Witches and Onion Sandwiches

Witches and Onion Sandwiches
We weren’t in a huge hurry to get back on the road yesterday.  We both woke up around 8.  I went down about 8:15 to bring us up some coffee from the grab and go.  Tony watched the news and I did some computer work.  I ended up heating up two portions of the breakfast casserole I made over the weekend.  There really isn’t a...

And . . . More Tests.

And . . . More Tests.
I have to admit that the drive to Rochester isn’t too bad.  Once we get through the bullshit construction on I-90, it was pretty smooth sailing.  Although Tony had me drive the whole way.  Which is good and bad.  Good in that I know he can just sit back and relax, but bad, because I can see that he cringes pretty much the whole time...

Breakfast Bruschetta

Breakfast Bruschetta
Saturday morning out refrigerator looked a bit bare.  No ham, bacon, sausage or any meat to speak of.  I did have a steak in the freezer, but I was lazy and didn’t want to take the time to thaw it, plus I hate thawing meat in the microwave, I think it ruins it. What did I have?  A .70 loaf of sesame bread from Walmart...

Mini Meatballs for One

Mini Meatballs for One
All day yesterday felt like a Monday to me at work since I had been off for four days.  Even though I could have still taken the day off since it had already been approved, I figured why waste a day when I may need to more next week or down the road.  And it worked out because one of the other secretaries had a...

It’s Not Just His Liver . . . It’s His Heart.

It’s Not Just His Liver . . . It’s His Heart.
This week has been a bit of a roller coaster.  We left Illinois knowing that Tony had some sort of liver disease.  Our thought was that we could get some ideas on how to control/stop the continued liver disease, find out how he got it, etc.  After a battery of initial tests, everything is pointing to his heart.  His heart is actually causing liver disease....

I was afraid to go into a Laundromat.

I was afraid to go into a Laundromat.
We had a super early appointment yesterday morning.  Like, get up at 5:00 a.m. to get to our appointment.  Here’s the kicker.  We couldn’t enter the same Mayo Clinic main entrance as we did the previous day because the hour of our appointment.  Luckily as we got to Mayo, there were a couple of cabbies who pointed us in the right direction.  But here is...

Day 1 At Mayo . . . Are We At A Hotel?

Day 1 At Mayo . . . Are We At A Hotel?
So we had our first day at Mayo, and all I can say is . . . WOW.  We met our shuttle bus down in our lobby.  Totally on time to the minute.  We get to Mayo and the shuttle bus pulls in and the first thing I think of is, are we checking into a high end hotel?!  There were three lanes into the...

Made It to Minnesota!

Made It to Minnesota!
We had a nice time at the wedding on Saturday night.  It’s just weird that we are old enough that our friends kids are getting married.  Tony was the best man at the parents of the grooms wedding – so they have a lot of history.  I’ve known them for now 14 years, but I always like hearing the stories of when Tony was younger. ...

It Was A Tostada Day!

It Was A Tostada Day!
And there is nothing wrong with that!  As we got down to the tail end of the week, and after spending less than $30 for groceries this week, it was slim pickings.  I had some ground beef leftover, so I decided to cook that up and noticed I had 4 tostadas left in a bag in the pantry.  So beef tostadas were on the lunch...
