The Perfect Day!

Tony called me yesterday afternoon that tell me  it was a perfect day!  While I am not sure how many baseball fans I have as readers, yesterday was opening day for both the Chicago White Sox and the Chicago Cubs.  Tony and I are avid White Sox fans, so the perfect day for us is when the Sox win and the Cubs lose.  Sorry Mara! ...

Olive bread attempt and cinnamon rolls!

Olive bread attempt and cinnamon rolls!
Last week Olive Spelt Bread was selected in the HBinFive club.   Only problem was I could not find spelt flour anywhere, so I used garbanzo bean flour.  And I didn’t have plain yogurt so I substituted buttermilk.   The dough actually came out really well! But the flavor was just “meh.”  I think I needed to add a bit more salt – Tony and I both...

I’m 42 and can still sleep like a teenager!

Yep, my office is closed for Good Friday today, and I am proud to say that I woke up at 10:45!!  😀 I’ve really lucked out on buying the best oranges!  They were so good, I ate the oranges before my breakfast sammie! Any my typical egg white/spinach/ham sammie: I bought the WW 1-point pita breads and I am a bit underwhelmed.  I was trying...

Perfect Weather!

It still amazes me after 42 springs in Chicago that we can go from 20 degree weather on Monday morning to 80 degree weather yesterday!    It was absolutely gorgeous! My Aunt got me a magazine subscription for my birthday – suprisingly one I don’t already subscribe to – Cuisine at Home!  One of the first recipes that caught my eye was English Muffin Baskets.  You actually roll out the...

So not technical.

I’ve been trying to figure out over a year how to have printer friendly versions of my recipes.  I’ve gone on wordpress forums and the explanation on how to do it made no sense to me at all – first off, I don’t know how to write any code so I was pretty clueless from the get go. I was on a blog yesterday, saw...

Breakfast Pizza!

Since I had so much dough leftover from our pizza party Saturday night, it was inevitable that I would make breakfast pizza again!  This time: 3 oz. dough, 1/4 cup sauce, 1 ounce mozzarella, handful of baby spinach and 1/4 cup egg whites poured over the top.  You can taste the egg whites even if you can’t see them – it kind of blends into...

Foodbuzz, 24, 24, 24: German Exchange Pizza Party!

We had the privilege of having some of our German exchange students over for Pizza 101!  They had a great time and loved the pizza! I decided to make my our pizza sauce when I lucked out with these tomatoes! I sliced them in quarters and generously sprinkled them with salt and pepper while 1 tablespoon of minced garlic was being sauteed in my stock...

Sushi!

I had such a non-Biz breakfast yesterday – it reminded me of something Meghann would normally have! 😀 Two Van’s brand multi-grain waffles, 6 large strawberries, 6 ounces of plain Greek yogurt split between the two waffles and 1/4 cup of sugar free pancake syrup.   This plate comes in at 294 calories, 52 carbs, 18.2 protein, 2 fat and 7 fiber 😀 My friend and...
