I have Jacky to thank for finding this online. Apparently one of my blog readers was upset that I was referring my food to looking like poo in a couple posts ago and thinks I’ve gone off the deep end.
I know what I put myself out here that I am fair game, but this is kind of crazy. She said she used to feel sorry for me because my husband died, but now I am just out of control. You can check it out here.
Just wanted this to let this sit out there and get your thoughts on it while I am visiting my parents in law this weekend.
And to this person – the “sponsors” I have are not really sponsors. Yes, I’ve been invited to an all expense paid trips for the National Cattleman’s Associate, and yes I get free cheese from Cabot and free yogurt from time to time from Chobani, but I don’t make a cent off of any of these “sponsors” on a regular basis, so I will continue to live out loud and well, if you don’t like what you read here, there are about a billion other food blogs you can read.
And from what I can gather: GOMI – means get off my internet, like you shouldn’t be blogging anymore and SOMI – means stay on my internet.
Have an awesome weekend!
Team my bizzy kitchen all the way. Ignore her!!!
Maybe it was KERF who wrote that. LOL.
Those women who are talking smack need to get a life. Holy crap, I can’t believe forums like that exist.
OMG! That is hysterical! You know I love you and we would certainly be BFFs if we lived closer so I definitely want you to SOMI. Of all the crap out there, someone has the BALLS to talk smack about you (crap and balls – ha!)? Apparently they are ok that you swear like a sailor at times (just keeping it real) but run to GOMI because you commented that your food looked like poooo (which it definitely did!). That is just so ridiculous. Keep on keeping it real Biz – that’s why we LOVE YOU!!!! XO
PS. I actually typed up a whole comment on my phone during my commute but when I hit post I didn’t have a connection so I lost it all which is why I don’t get to comment anymore. LOL
Fuck what they think Biz! You rock! I’ve been a faithful reader since 2008 and I love what you have to say…and let’s get real everyone thinks pb and certain dishes can tend to look like poop anyway..I love that you just put it out there and say it!!!
Wait… did anyone read the rest of the GOMI thread? After that first post, there’s just a bunch of people talking about how much they love this site, the realness, the recipes, and how they think the OP is totally off base.
Because of all the shit people are talking, I feel like I need to defend GOMI. I’m a longtime GOMI member, and it started because of bloggers who were increasingly censuring legitimate dissensions or critiques. So readers found another outlet. Read the “How did you find GOMI” thread for many examples. The site continued when some of these bloggers started deleting every comment that wasn’t a complete suck-up, abusing and not disclosing affiliate links, etc.
Users definitely crosses the line sometimes (for which they often get called out), which is inexcusable, but it’s not some cesspool of hate or bullying.
I haven’t read the particular comment in question, but I actually found your blog through GOMI. It was on a SOMI thread where people were listing blogs they loved, and so many people raved about this one that I wanted to check it out. I have been a loyal reader since. I love your voice, your adoration of your family, your dedication to your marriage and your husband, your strength in his absence, your commitment to health, and your obvious humor and generosity. If someone didn’t like your poop meat pictures, it has nothing to do with you. It has to do with them. You put your stories online and while most people seem to love them, obviously one person didn’t. That’s their business, not yours. Just keep doing you. I’m really glad GOMI lead me to this awesome blog.
I echo this comment. Biz, I’m a GOMI reader myself and I’m sort of sad that you put this thread out there. If you read the rest of the thread, over and over, everyone says how much they like you and think you’re great – a real refreshing person in the food blogging world.
I know everyone thinks we’re all evil nasty trolls, but we are not. We have lives, jobs, and don’t just live in a basement eating ham.
Biz, you mad it big! Someone told me once (it was something similar in relation to my job) that you haven’t really made it until you have haters!!! 😉 Get it girl, go on with your bad self! Can I just mention how much I ADDOOORREEE your blog and sense of humor!!!!!!!!! MUAH!
Oh-emmmm-effing-geeee. Some people. You just have to laugh at their complete ridiculousness and feel sorry for their lack of a life. But I agree with a previous comment…she brought all kinds of new traffic to your blog, and everything I saw was positive! So keep on being you Biz. And you know….f*ck her 😛 xoxo
She use to feel sorry for you, thanks but no thanks! Not once have i ever thought you needed that. I cracked up when i saw the post with the crappy food pics, that is real life!!! I work where death is always on my mind (assisted living) so when i get home and log on, and the F bomb had been dropped a time or too, it makes the day not so serious.
Keep them coming!!!!!!
Geez Louise, the ONE DAY I have to go to work, and something like this blows up. For what it’s worth, I don’t always like what you post (chicken feet, haha), but I either say so, or I just don’t comment. We can’t please everyone with every post, and I, as a fellow blogger, know that. I hope you don’t let this bother you anymore…although, I didn’t realize until someone on GOMI pointed it out, that you using paper plates is somehow terrible. 😉
From what I see that site looks like gossip. And some folks get pleasure out of trash talk. I was always taught that if one has nothing good to say than don’t say it. Forget about it and get on with your vacation. That site looks like another time waster to me!
Ok, so I guess I “get” your sense of humor. I thought it was funny what you said about the poop stuff. GOMI people by and large seem to be seriously lacking in objectivity. And having a life. And diplomacy. And Kindness. And the list goes on and on. They are “Mean Girls” a thousand times over who really don’t have anything better to do than be mean, judge and snark and pick people apart 24/7. I find it disgusting. Revolting. You keep doing what you do. You are the real deal, Biz. And we all love you for who you are! =) oh and what Melanie said up above THUMBS UP. Do it. Name a dish after her. LOL.
I love your writing and you have kept my interest for several years. You are the most positive honest person and I adore you even though I have never met you. Never thought I would be so involved with your blog but it keeps me coming back day after day. I remember the very first one I read. Enjoy your long weekend! You’re the best Biz!
BIz, I read several GOMI forums on a semi-regular basis. It’s how I keep up with some blogs that I just cannot stand to read/support any more, and I love the snarky goodness of most of the GOMI posters.
That said, you are definitely a SOMI for me!
I wouldn’t let it bother you. When you put stuff on the internet, it is fair game for praise and criticism. Not everyone is going to like and/or agree with everything that gets posted. That person is entitled to have their opinion, just as those of us who support you have that right.
It’s best to leave it be.
I’m with Lori on this one. I didn’t even know there was a special forum for something called GOMI …. crawling back under the stone I have been living under 🙂
But wait…the meat did look like poop! That doesn’t mean it didn’t taste delicious, which is how I imagine all of your food tastes. When I read that post, I about spit out my precious morning coffee at work! I still don’t get it- what is different about what you posted, versus what you always have? Frank, honest, warm, friendly, and hilarious! Remember during insanity, and we would get your wonderful boob shots!? I would crack up when you said ‘You’re welcome’. That is so my sense of humor and it just about killed me! haha People have such brazen balls to be rude online. To be dismissive and ugly, when in reality, I don’t think most people have much courage to even do the right thing, let alone be jerks. I am happy you addressed that, but in the future- don’t feel like you have to! Biz, I don’t know you, but you rock everyday. You live a real, authentic, life with choices- good, bad, ?- like the rest of us. As my friend’s grandma recently said “Can’t let the haters get you down.” 😀
Wow…she really is full of it, isn’t she?!?! You’re definitely a SOMI and if she doesn’t want to read your blog, well good riddance. You’re not forcing her, nobody is. If she felt the need to post on GOMI, she could have easily emailed you. It’s not like she doesn’t have a way to contact you.
I love reading your blogs and look forward to them everyday. I think you’re awesome Biz!
Have fun with your in-laws!!
I have been reading your blog for a few years now and love that you keep it real. I am also a regular reader of GOMI primarily for those bloggers who are NOT keeping it real. You are definitely a SOMI in my book!! Keep up the good work!!
The reason I like your blog so much is that you are real. You don’t sugar coat anything or claim to be anything besides real. I love your blog, and all your recipes. You are a normal person eating real food and working the hard way to make yourself the healthiest person you can be. Ignore the haters for sure!
What a bitch. You keep it real, and that;’s why we all love you! Have a great trip!
Wow – I never knew there were sites like this! So not worth it!. Love your blog and I love the fact that you pointed out your poopy pictures (I was going to suggest a dessert plate filled with tootsie rolls and baby ruth bars 😉 That’s what we like about you – you’re real! Have a great trip 🙂
