I have Jacky to thank for finding this online. Apparently one of my blog readers was upset that I was referring my food to looking like poo in a couple posts ago and thinks I’ve gone off the deep end.
I know what I put myself out here that I am fair game, but this is kind of crazy. She said she used to feel sorry for me because my husband died, but now I am just out of control. You can check it out here.
Just wanted this to let this sit out there and get your thoughts on it while I am visiting my parents in law this weekend.
And to this person – the “sponsors” I have are not really sponsors. Yes, I’ve been invited to an all expense paid trips for the National Cattleman’s Associate, and yes I get free cheese from Cabot and free yogurt from time to time from Chobani, but I don’t make a cent off of any of these “sponsors” on a regular basis, so I will continue to live out loud and well, if you don’t like what you read here, there are about a billion other food blogs you can read.
And from what I can gather: GOMI – means get off my internet, like you shouldn’t be blogging anymore and SOMI – means stay on my internet.
Have an awesome weekend!
I love your blog. And i love that people stood up for you on the GOMI site. I started reading skinny taste years ago and now i cant read it. everything is kale and fake and not how i can reasonably live my life. Keep blogging lady. I love ya!
Hey Biz! Your blog is one of my very favorites, though I admit I lurk on GOMI. I started out as a dedicated reader of several Healthy Living blogs (mainly the women who have all gotten book deals and then quit their day jobs). Eventually, they became unrelatable to me, and I stopped trusting their content (too many sponsored posts; couldn’t empathize with the challenges of eating healthy for people who didn’t have to leave the house to get their work done). I was thrilled to find your blog a few years ago, because it presented that authenticity — along with all the charms and warts of a REAL life — which I found to be missing from the now-professional bloggers. Your food is real; your tone is real. It is so refreshing in the cooking/healthy blogging world to see that. Keep on keeping on!
Biz, honey, you have it the big time-you have people hating on ya! Only famous chicks have people hating on them enough to start bashing you online. You keep living loud and proud and be exactly who you are, which is purely delightful. I’m proud of you!
I know people like her. Too much freaking time on their hands and they just aren’t happy unless they’re minding everyone and anyone’s business but their own. Looks for for that one who loves to find things to complain about, you have over a hundred who love and support you. I’m proud to say I’m one of the latter. 🙂
It’s funny to see that she immediately went off after a couple of posts because she had no more points to bring up. LOL. I think she’s running out of love from her supporters unlike you who have a magnitude. Thumbs up for just being real and amazing. 🙂
Long time lurker, first time poster. 🙂 Just wanted to chime in and say that I love your blog! And from the looks of it, outside of the person who created that thread, a lot of other people on GOMI love it too.
I love your blog.. and I sometimes laugh out loud at your self deprecating humor. keep writing your blog from your heart that’s what keeps us coming back.. you are a real person – not a politically correct character for us. Keep living your life out loud!!!!
DLTBGYD….. I love reading your blog..Keep on living and being brave…You are a wonder in your own right …Have a great life
WTAF? She doesn’t have to come back. Her comment was really mean. I think you are amazeballs 😉
I’m sorry, but how are chicken feet gross? It is eaten all over Asia and honestly, if you’re going to eat any animal, every part of the animal should be eaten/used!
The swearing? Why else are they called sentence spicers? SOMI!
GOMI is the stupidest thing ever.
Keep doing what you’re doing.
Haters gonna hate.
I took a look at GOMI and it seems like it was basically only one person who has an ax to grind. Your use of a paper plates seems to have caused a stir between a few of them LOL I just find it quite strange that the person didn’t just ask you directly about your sponsors or any other concerns.
Anyway, since I’m new to your blog, I’m enjoying finding some new twists on recipes like your adapted MIL’s Banana Bread that I’m going to try out this weekend 🙂
I’m not sure I understand all the hate here. Last I checked, people are still allowed to have opinions. If pictures of “poo” and salty language bother someone, then I don’t believe they’re necessarily being mean (or a “troll” or even a “dumbass”) when they feel the need to express that opinion. This entire comment thread is one large expression of opinion. Does that mean it’s okay when in agreement but it should be banned and belittled when it’s contrary?
If there was a like button, I would push it right here. You are exactly right Charlie. While I am really sorry Biz has hurt feelings about all this, people do have a right to express their opinions. Maybe that reader could have said something to Biz directly, but maybe they didn’t know how. In any case, hating on that person is crazy. When you blog, you open yourself up to other people’s opinions. Freedom of speech goes both ways.
hey biz, i’m a long time reader of yours (probably 3 years now?) — yours is actually the only “HLB” that i follow! i love reading your blog cuz your food looks delicious, you are hilarious, & like the GOMI defenders said — you keep it so real! please dont let yourself feel bad about that dumbass post at all because you dont deserve it all. thanks for keeping me entertained & motivated to stay healthy for so long! good luck with everything & keep on bloggin’! 🙂
Wow. Just wow. Never heard of that site before and won’t bother going back, but I was there long enough to see her getting shot down. You’re definitely a SOMI (stupid term) for me and if she doesn’t like your blog she has a much easier way to avoid that offence. And BTW, crass? I think you’re down to earth, real, and fun – and you handled losing Tony with a great deal more grace and courage than most people could manage. So SHE is the one who should GOMI (even stupider term. Arrggh)
Oh, for fuck’s sake. People need to find something to do with their lives. I’d rather see a photo of bean dip than an over-styled bowl of cereal.
Biz, do I need to go find this reader and giver her a piece of my mind????? I think I should. And I’m obviously living under a rock as I have no idea what GOMI is. Learning so much here!
So.. like someone said. I actually found you from clicking on GOMI (had never heard of your website before) and saw how everyone loves you on GOMI! It was literally that one person.. So I’m glad to have found you =)
