Doctor and First (okay second) Day of the Month Giveaway!

This cough is not letting up!   It is so past being annoying now.  My doctors office didn’t open until 8:30 this morning – I called exactly at that time, and got an appointment for 10:45.  Nice!  Only to be called ten minutes later that there was a double booking and my appointment is being changed to 3:15.  Uggh.  Even though my stomach muscles are killing...

Sweet!

Probably the hardest thing about being an insulin dependent diabetic is days like today.  Unplanned meals, snacks, appetizers – you name it!  Guess what my blood sugar was before dinner:  So while I told you that the Italian Sunday Gravy thawed really well?  Well, it did, but it lost a lot of the sauciness on the reheating.  While the flavor was still there, Tony and...

BSI – Dates!

I think I am going on a record of how many posts I can do IN ONE DAY! So a couple weeks ago I resurrected the BSI (Blogger Secret Ingrient) recipe contest.  I passed the torch to Sarah and her selection was dates!  I don’t really know anything about dates to tell you the truth, so I was a bit stumped on what to do. ...

Mmmm…..dip.

So if any of you live in the midwest, you’ll know that the price of good seafood is rediculous!  I ended up getting our crab at the butcher – they have it canned in the refrigerator section.  Check out the price for one pound!  After I made the bread this morning, since I still had the food processor out I decided to make a quick...

So far, so good. . .

The boys are eating eating their tartare now and are making nummy noises.  I can’t get over the fact that it looks like brains on a plate! So to add some extra heat to the jalapeno dip  (thanks Robin Sue! ) I added one fresh seeded jalapeno pepper to the food processor.  The bread rested for two hours before baking: And 28 delicious minutes later:...

Are you ready for some football??

So I was going to make the dips last night, but when I pulled out the recipes, I realized I needed to let the cream cheese come to room temperature.  So I made them this morning.  I’ll show pics when they come out of the oven! Another thing I made this morning was the steak tartare.  I cannot urge you enough to get your meat...

Pan Fried Chicken Sandwiches

So Hannah and I were going over the menu for the week, and tonight we decided that we would have Asian chicken lettuce wraps, fried rice with peas and bean sprouts and Trader Joe’s chicken egg rolls.  Yum! Until we are driving home from the store and we both remembered that she had to babysit tonight at six!  There was not going to be enough...

Robitussin is my new bff

I feel SO much better after taking this stuff!  I haven’t been sick in so long I didn’t even realize that I needed to sign off that I was over 18 to buy this stuff!   I got the non-drowsy for the day and then Tylenol PM for tonight.  All I know is that I am able to do things, like grocery shopping, without having to...

Mmmm….Ham Steak

Tony loves ham steak but I rarely think to get it.  When I was at Aldi last week I saw it and picked it up – this whole steak only cost $3.25!  I pan fried it in Pam for about 6 minutes a side. I heated up some premade hashbrowns in the toaster oven, and made us eggs/egg white scrambled eggs.  Delicious! I still haven’t...

Home Remedies and Easy Pizza

So although I have buffalo chicken pizza on my brain, we just ordered pizza tonight – I didn’t want to get my germs all over everyone’s pizza!   Next week that will definitely be on the menu!  So Tony has been on the internet trying to find home remedies for my cough.  It’s a dry cough, not a satisfying cough if you know what I mean! ...
