Note to Self . . .

If you touch a pickled jalapeno with your bare hands, don’t rub your eye an hour later!  I should have known better too!   It stung a bit, but I’ll survive! But I barely survived Level 1 of Jillian’s 30-day shred.  I don’t think I’ve worked out that hard in months – and although I completed everything, I thought my arms were going to fall off...

Goat Cheese = Yum!

I believe there are only two camps when it comes to goat cheese – you either love it or you hate it!  I love it!  When I was at the store last week I saw an 11 ounce log (nice!) and I thought it was marked $3.89.  Well, when I got home I was looking over my register receipt and it was $12.89!  I contemplated...

Birthday Dinner and Loot!

I wish I could say that dinner was amazing, but it was anything but.  Mind you, we have been to this restaurant at least a dozen times and have never been disappointed!  Tonight was just an off night.   First off we were sat at a table that was meant for two people not four.  Every time we have gone here we have gotten a booth,...

Egg Sammie and Pepperoni Pizza!

Wow, thanks for all the birthday wishes!   My two bosses forgot it was my birthday today.  One didn’t say anything, and when the other found out, she said “Oh, I forgot” and walked back into her office.  Oh well! I brought in Panera bagels for a birthday treat.  An everything bagel is probably the best bagel ever invented!  I brought an egg and some cheese...

Happy Birthday to Me!

and my twin sister!  Today we are 41 years young!     I am 30 minutes older than my sister.  And for some reason being the first born I felt it my obligation to take care of her.  I did most of the talking for us, made decisions for us.  That’s just the way it was.  Our parents always kept us in separate classes.  If we...

Chicken Satay, Fried Rice and Shrimp Wontons

I think Tony thought dinner was the appetizer!  I marinated the chicken cutlets in 6 ounces of Greek yogurt, minced garlic, fresh grated ginger and lime juice all day.  I think I over cooked the chicken a tad, but it takes me a while to get back into the grilling swing!   So I am off to watch LAST WEEKS American Idol so I am...

There is no such thing is too much sauerkraut

Spoiler Alert – Biggest Loser Last Night! I literally was tearing up when Mike and Ron went home and Mike’s brother Max just openly wept.  I don’t even know these people, but I can usually cry at the drop of a hat (read any Hallmark commercial, weddings, Extreme Home Makeover, etc!) 😀 But that Cathy sacraficed herself for her daughter was awesome.  If I were...

Happy Birthday Paul!

Today is my nephew’s 13th birthday!   I was trying to find a picture that I have of Hannah holding Paul.  She’s 4, sucking her thumb, while she’s holding on to him!  It’s really cute, but I could not find it!   But I’ve always liked this picture! Anyway, woke up with low blood sugar today, so food was my first thought.  I cooked down the remainder...

Sauerkraut and Corned Beef

Because it is all about the sauerkraut!!!  My favorite brand of sauerkraut is Frank’s Bavarian – my Dad used to love this one too – it’s slightly sweet with the caraway seeds.  I could literally eat this out of the can cold!  So while the beer I chose for this dinner is not Irish – it is damn good.  Boddington’s Pub Ale from Manchester, England. ...

Roast Beast Sammie and Soup

I love our local deli.  The quality of meat is not only wonderful, but the prices match it.  We got 1/2 pound rare roast beef for $2.63!   Tony and I were going to do a comparison corned beef experiment – buying a medium to low grade and then a high end corned beef to see if there would be a significant difference in taste. ...
