Because it is all about the sauerkraut!!! My favorite brand of sauerkraut is Frank’s Bavarian – my Dad used to love this one too – it’s slightly sweet with the caraway seeds. I could literally eat this out of the can cold!
So while the beer I chose for this dinner is not Irish – it is damn good. Boddington’s Pub Ale from Manchester, England. Tony introduced me to this beer and I’ve never looked back. It’s expensive, typically $8.99 for 4 pints, but it is so creamy! If you can ever find this beer on tap do it!
So I cooked the potatoes and carrots at my office in seasoned vegetable broth this afternoon. When I got home I just tossed it all in with the corned beef that had been cooking in a covered pot in the stove for 2 hours at 350. After I added the veg, I cooked for an additional 30 minutes while Tony and I enjoyed an awesome breeze, read the paper and had our beer!
I have no idea how many calories my dinner was, but I had about 750 to spend so I am going to call it even!
Another night of BizTV! Can’t wait to see the reaction of friends and family when the contestants go home tonight on Biggest Loser! I am still a week behind on American Idol – I’ll have to catch up with those soon!
See you tomorrow for none other: corned beef hash!
I think Boddingtons is about the same price here in the UK (when converted to £s) I’m not a fan of beer, but my Dad, he’s an expert. He’s retired now and loves finding new beers by local breweries. 😀
While i was removing the fat from the corned beef tonight, it reminded me of a placenta. Eww. But the beef was good.
OMG, I laughed out loud when I read this!
Hannah doesn’t like trimming chicken, because the says it feels like she’s peeling skin of human flesh.
My husband and I were just talking about how I have never had corned beef. It looks great 🙂
Happy St. Paddys day!!! I managed to get one corned beef sandwich in today, and remembered how much i LOVE corned beef!
What a nice irish dinner!
You always make delicious eats!!!
Great beer shots! Enjoy relaxin’ by the TV!!
The perfect Irish dinner!
That looks good, except for the sauerkraut. And Boddingtons Ale is awesome!
i’ve never tried that beer, but it does look good 🙂
Yum!!! That looks so good!!! (p.s. Got my corned beef and cabbage fix…whole foods did have it…got some leftover for hash. 🙂
My husband is all about the saurkraut. He is Irish and never wants me to deviate from a recipe just like yours. I only make it once a year, but should really make it more often.
Hmmm, I just can’t get into corned beef or saurkraut. But the potatoes & carrots look yummy 😀
