Bizzy Weekend!

First off, my Mom’s party was a complete success!  Luckily one of the guests was a pianist, so we had a piano accompanist!  Um, let’s just say I have no videography skillz!  The first part is singing Happy Birthday, the rest is singing around my Mom’s piano, which went on for over an hour and everyone had such a great time! I have a new favorite breakfast!

Thanks for all your well wishes for the Foodbuzz Food Blogger Contest!  I went to Food Buzz to see my competition, and it will be a miracle if I make it to the next round.  Voting begins on Monday so I’ll be sure to let you know then how to vote – thanks! I have Allison to thank for introducing me to the savory oats...

I was on the Oprah Show.

I stayed up too late last night watching the season premiere of Oprah’s last season.  I have a love/hate thing with her – while I think she does some beneficial things for the community, not only in Chicago but around the world, her ego is about the size of North America. Every time I see her magazine with her picture on the cover, I kind...

Football Food

After our 3 mile charity walk yesterday, we went out to breakfast.  I figured I worked off enough calories to indulge in one of my guilty breakfast pleasures:  corned beef hash! On a “The best think I ever ate” on FoodTV, Michael Symon had a guacamole that had blue cheese, sage and bacon in it.  While mine didn’t look a lot like the one he...

Altzheimer’s Walk, Baked Donuts and Bacon

Altzheimer’s Walk, Baked Donuts and Bacon
We had an absolutely beautiful morning for our Altzheimer’s Walk! It was a wonderful way to start the day! Over the summer I bought a baked donut pan.  It quickly got lost in my sea of kitchen accessories, but I saw it the other day and since it was a rainy, dark morning yesterday, decided to give it a try. I wasn’t exactly sure how...

9/11

It’s hard to believe it was nine years ago already.  At the time I worked in Chicago, at a law firm on Michigan Avenue about 3 blocks from the John Hancock building.  Living out in the “sticks” my commute was a long one.  I took the 7:15 train that got me downtown at 8:25, and then I had to either walk for 20 minutes, take...

Thank you!

Wow, thanks to everyone who donated for our Altzheimer’s charity walk on Sunday!  My goal was to raise $100, and I raised $175 $185 $200 $225 $230 so far!   Thanks to these wonderful people – if you haven’t checked out their blogs yet, you need to! Golden Apple Sauce and I Need Your Help

Golden Apple Sauce and I Need Your Help
More than a month ago my neighbor asked me and Hannah to participate in this years local Memory Walk to raise money for Altzheimer Disease.  We jumped at the chance to join them!  But guess what?  The walk is on Sunday!  I hoped to raise $100 for the cause, so here is where I need your help. If you donate just $5 dollars, I’ll send...
