What a wonderful weekend! It went by in a flash though, as most weekends do.
Saturday I spent the day with my family – my Aunt from Virginia was in town and today my Mom and Aunt are flying to Vegas for the week. They have a couple shows they have tickets for already:
I remember seeing Terry Fator from America’s Got Talent – he is so amazing, it’s no surprise that he’s pulling big crowds in Vegas six years later. Do you remember seeing him on that show? They are also going to see the new Cirque de Soleil. And of course, will be going to a few good restaurants. We joked with them that what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas!
My twin sister and Hannah:
Us being goofy!
My Aunt and Hannah:
Mom’s youngest and oldest grandchildren – both of whom are taller than her!
She made a wonderful dinner – the star of the show was this pork roast though – and she bought it at Aldi! I don’t think I’ve ever bought meat at Aldi before, I’ll have to check it out.
Yesterday while Tony was watching football, he realized that a few squirrels were hanging out on our deck – we’ve never seen squirrels get so close before!
I at first threw them Cheerios, and that wasn’t a big hit. I tried a carrot, no such luck. I did throw them some almonds, but I wasn’t going to waste my almonds on squirrels! So when I was at the store, Tony texted me and said “they like hot nuts!”
I texted back “you’ll kill them!” When I got home, he did say that after eating a couple, they were rubbing their faces on the table – I am sure wondering what the hell was so fricken hot! I guess they won’t try to get to the bird feeder anymore!
How was your weekend? It’s cold here today – It’s days like this I am happy I don’t work downtown. And if anyone is wondering, I will be wearing a winter coat today.

You have a twin sister?!
We love Aldi’s Country Style Ribs; however we make them untraditionally. Instead of making em’ BBQ we pound em’ a little just till tender and grill them. So good! They also make great stir fry pieces when chunked.
And here I think it’s cold in Holland: you definitely win, brrrr.
What a fun weekend you had Biz, loved looking at the pictures.
Aww…poor squirrels. Look out Tony, they’ll get their friends together and come looking’ for you! 🙂 Thanks for sharing the pics Vat. You, Jenn and the whole gang look great! Hope your week ahead is a great one. Hugs
Poor little squirrels! I put out some Newman’s Own Hermit cookies for them today and apparently they aren’t fans of those either. Mine were dried out and I figured I’d give them to the squirrels. Maybe the birds will eat them tomorrow. I also gave them some water but it’s probably frozen now-lol. I love that fat one that is looking right at you! It looks like he posed. Looks like you had a blast with your family! You and your sister aren’t identical are you? Because I totally see so many differences even though you are very close in looks.
We are identical, but as we’ve gotten older, we don’t look as much alike anymore. We look more like sisters than twins! Although there was a time when no one could tell us apart! I can’t wait to make the hot shrimp dip you made – it looks amazeballs!
That’s crazy-you really do look more like sisters or fraternal twins. I bet having your own personality and living separate lives shows on the outside a bit as you age…you think? Anyway, guess what? I just made your chicken chili! Omgoats, so good! Hubby is a happy camper. If you make the dip, make sure it’s for a crowd as it is “indulgent,” esp if you eat the whole batch. tee hee!
Haha at feeding the squirrels hot peanuts! 🙂 Our dog did the same thing when he got into some wasabi peas.
Stay warm today, it’s currently -1, and -25 with the wind chill. I’ll trade you?!
Um, no thanks Mel – you can keep it up in Wisconsin!
Balls and nuts…. you seem to have a way of getting our attention with your headlines 🙂
Looks like you had a great time too bad you could not go to Vegas too.
Oh my the squirrel photos are cute. I love to watch critters.
Ha – that’s my aim Kym! Plus I just like saying balls and nuts 😀
I’m glad you’re finally wearing a coat Biz! Looks like you all had a nice time together. The pork roast does look good. I’ve bought meat at Aldi and it was fine. I love the squirrels here I’m always feeding them. Our local mill has a mix for squirrels and then I have black walnut trees and they are always picking up walnuts. I wish they’d pick all of them up…lol!
Oh I do not miss that weather at all! I hope your family has fun in Vegas, it is pretty hard not to, though 🙂 Have an awesome week!
Funny squirrel pictures, had to chuckle for the day. That pork roast sure looks really delicious. But I was told that meat sold at Aldi’s comes from Mexico, so I never bought meat there. Sometimes I like to go to the local butcher, costs more but I know the meat is local.
I am sure your Aunt and mom will enjoy Las Vegas, been there a couple of times visiting my mom and stepfather. Weather is usually in the 3 digets during the summer…..gosh it is warm there!!!! I am sure they will enjoy the food and entertainment!!!
Next time I go to Aldi (usually for wine!) I’ll check to see where the meat comes from – now I am curious!
Looks like you ladies had a lot of fun together! We’re in the deep freeze here too although this is just the first day. I think it’s going to get worse before it gets better.
I thoroughly enjoyed your post today about perspective – thanks for sharing it!
omg . . . Just got back from Florida this morning. I sorta wanna turn around and go back. The weather is downright frigid here!! Eek.
Loved seeing the family photos. What a beautiful family you have!
Thanks Michelle! Totally love the idea of freezing Greek yogurt for smoothies – going to steal that one!
Feels like -10??? omgosh. Stay warm! So fun that they’re going to Vegas- I’ve always wanted to see a Cirque de Soleil show. What a fun family get together
Poor squirrels! Hopefully they don’t bring back an army for revenge on Tony! Watch your back, Mr. Bizmoto! 😉
Love the family pictures as always. I always imagine myself in your mom’s position in the future with grandchildren towering over me. My 18 year old is 6’4″ and my 5 year old is gaining on me fast. 🙂
Yep, I think Hannah was taller than me by 5th grade!
I love pork roast!! Yum!
My weekend was so nice. We didn’t have any set plans so it was so nice to just do what we wanted when we wanted. I loved it. 🙂
You should be so proud of your coaching skills Heather!!
Love that pork roast, looks amazing! Glad you had a great weekend. I had a super relaxing weekend…we’ve been having super chilly weather lately, but this past weekend it warmed up enough to actually ENJOY being outside, so my boyfriend and I took long walks on both Saturday and Sunday, so nice!
I’m just sharing our cold weather with you 🙂 Love the squirrel pic’s
Great pics! I can imagine the squirrels were quite shocked by the intensity of the nuts, much like I am whenever I rub my eyes after using mint flavored floss. It burns! Too cold for me, hope it warms ups soon.
I’ve made the same mistake cutting jalapenos before work for my lunch, and THEN putting my contacts in – ouch!
My dad always feeds animals on his porch. I swear he has his favorite animals named! He used to have a duck who would peck at the sliding glass door when he was hungry. He’s had chipmunks and squirrels come right up to the glass and look in. When I was a kid, he’d buy corn for the ducks and had 2 come in our backyard every day. Never thought of hot nuts though!
I got you beat, it’s UP to -10 here. It started out -15 when I woke up. Wind chill is way lower than that. A bit chilly.
I always love your pictures of your family.
I am also thrilled that wordpress actually has me signed, I think there is a chance that this comment MIGHT actually work!
Hopefully I’ve finally fixed it Debbi – and your comments won’t go into spam anymore!
Yes! Can you imagine walking to the el on a day like today? BRRRRRR!!!! No fun. That second photo of the squirrel is hilarious – it’s so fat!!! The party looks like a blast and I love the photo of you and your sister with the wine glasses. And I do believe Hannah gets prettier all the time!! Stay warm, Biz!
Glad you had a great weekend Nicole – congrats again to your brother!
The squirrel pics made my morning! Especially the second one – reminds me of a fat Tiny Tim, begging “please sir, may I have some more?” – LOL!
How fun that your mom and Aunt are off to Vegas. I hope they have a wild adventure!! The family pictures are great – you all look wonderful. I don’t know what Aldi’s is so don’t quite get the shock about the pork roast – is it a sporting good’s store? 😉
Glad you are wearing a coat today – stay warm!!!
Oh my gosh – just saw this and thought of you — did you know today is National Squirrel Appreciation Day? hahaha

That kills – it was purely a coincidence!
75F here today…have to dig out a short sleeved shirt
Thanks for rubbing it in Marcia ;D
Stay warm! Sounds like a great weekend!
I am going to give your sauerkraut recipe a try!
