These skinny pizza dough sopes are a great way to use up any leftover skinny pizza dough. So delish and customizable!
Best part about these sopes is that the filling is totally up to you. Have some leftover steak or chicken – perfect!
What is Masa Harina?
Masa harina literally means dough flour in Spanish, and as the name suggests, it is dough that has been dried and ground to a powder. Choose either a white or yellow corn variety to suit your tastes. It can be found in most grocery stores in the Hispanic aisle.
I also use masa harina to thicken chicken tortilla soup.
Ingredients needed for sopes:
- 3 ounces of lean protein – I used lean ground beef, but pork, chicken, steak or shrimp would be delish!
- masa harina
- prepared skinny pizza dough
- desired toppings: I used radish, cheese, cilantro, queso, guacamole and Taco Bell fire sauce
Once the dough is formed, simply divide the dough into three sopes, making a bit of an edge around each one. Spray with avocado oil before baking.
The sopes were a bit crisp on the bottom when they first came out, but within a minute they were soft and fluffy. If you’ve followed me for any length of time, you know I am a crunchy, crispy girl. So after I built my sope, I heated a skillet over medium heat with avocado oil spray and cooked for 4-5 minutes, until the bottom was crispy.

- 3 tablespoons masa harina
- 3 tablespoons water
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup fat-free refried beans
- 3 ounces cooked lean ground beef
- 3 tablespoons salsa
- 1 radish, sliced
- 1/8 cup cheddar cheese
- 3 tablespoons guacamole (I use Yucatan squeezable guacamole)
Instructions
- Mix the salt and masa harina with three tablespoons water.
- Add this dough to the Skinny Pizza Dough and knead until combined.
- Divide the combined gought into three sopes, and place on parchment paper.
- Shape each sope so there is a raised edge. Spray with avocado oil spray.
- Cook in the air fryer at 360 for 8-10 minutes.
- To make the sopes, simply divide the filling mixture between the three sopes and enjoy!
- Note: the sopes will be soft out of the air fryer. I prefer to fill my sopes and add them to a skillet with avocado oil spray and cook for 3-4 minutes, or until the bottom is crispy.
