I think my work will be lightening up a bit soon – thank goodness, because it literally is a non-stop day. I went to work early so I could definitely have lunch that I had planned with two co-workers and my sister. I was going to make that lunch come hell or high water. š
So when I was getting ready for work, I reached for my black work pants, and pulled out . . .black yoga pants. Huh. So I threw a top on, put my flip flops on and left the house. And guess what? No one said anything! I may have to make that a habit – ha! Today I have on regular pants that zip and button – so fancy!
Knowing I was going to have a 20 point lunch, I had this 4 point breakfast – chia pudding breakfast parfait. 1/2 cup chia pudding mixed with layers of plain Chobani, strawberries, blueberries and a drizzle of agave nectar. So good.
I’ve been telling my one friend at work about this burger, and I was worried that I may have oversold it. Much like when someone tells you they just watched the best movie, and you watch it and think its just okay. It’s all subjective.
But what was I thinking? This is THE burger – just raised to #3 of all Chicago burgers I’ve had because why have I never had Nueskes bacon it before?!
My friend got the “loaded” burger with avocado, bacon and fried egg on top – swoon. If you are visiting Chicago, hit The Dearborn up after 2:00 p.m. after the lunch rush.
I only worked an hour late last night, but had to pick up my insulin on my way home from work. I got stuck between two cars in the drive-thru and what should have taken 5 minutes, took 20 minutes. While I was sitting in my car waiting, I was thinking of all the low point options I could have for dinner to even out my days eats. I settled on a chicken breast and veggie stir fry for 2 points. Perfect!
As I was just leaving Walgreen’s, Hannah called and asked me when I was coming home, because she made dinner. So sweet!
She even took pictures before it got dark for me to use on my blog and Instagram. Love her.
I could have done one of two things. I could have told her thanks, but I don’t have the points for that tonight and made my own dinner. Or second, give her a hug, tell her thank you for making dinner and tell her how delicious it was – I opted for the second choice. And these were amazing. I finished the day with 36 points, but I still have 6 points of weeklies on the table, so it’s all good.
So whether your child is 6 or 26, if they take the time to make you something to eat, loosen up, be thankful and eat the delicious food – because it was made with love. š
I have to give a shout out to my friend Emilee from Instagram. She’s a young Momma of an almost 3 year old I think? She’s lost almost 50 pounds since January of this year! Her husband was killed in a freak accident when she was 6 months pregnant with her son. She’s now dating a great guy and enjoying life to the fullest. You can follow her Instagram here.
She posted her favorite Weight Watcher peeps and I was honored that she included me in such a great group of cooks! Thanks Emilee š
Are you one to worry about the points or calories in a dish that someone makes for you, or do you just enjoy it?
Happy Thursday friends – make it a great day!
That was very sweet of Hannah to make you dinner. And yes I would have enjoyed it and said a big thank you as well. Being healthy and also achieving weight loss requires finding balance.
Thank you is such a simple phrase yet far underused in my opinion. I continue to drive it into my 11 year old. I am always impressed by any of his friends that say it. I have also found thank you to be an integral part of dealing with people in my job. I spend a lot of time calling medical providers and there are some very miserable people answering the phone. It’s as if they are ready to attack before I even say hello. Instead of responding in kind, I try to offer please and thank you. Sometimes it softens them!
I would enjoy the food š

Life’s too short to not splurge some times … and if anyone takes the time to make food and is thoughtful enough to invite you to eat it–do it! Life’s not just about counting calories (you can always try to find small ways to “make up” for splurging later)–my new motto: LIVE LIFE! š
As long as it was gluten free since gluten makes me sick other than that I wouldn’t say anything about calories to the person that was lovely enough to cook for me what a gift that is to give someone . I miss my moms cooking so much since she died back in 2004.
Sorry you miss your Momma’s cooking, but hope you have some great food memories with her – hugs!
Yep I do – but internally – I would never say anything to that person. I just deal with the aftermath with my tracker later! Sounds like you’ve been having a great week
It’s been a fun week – just kind of letting go of food guilt, ya know? Life is too short not to eat a burger or a piece of cherry pie š
