We made it to Friday! I shouldn’t complain because I was off on Monday, but damn this felt like a long week. And yesterday I was “this close” to calling in sick, because I wasn’t feeling 100% and it was cold, rainy and just the perfect day to lay around all day.
But the last day and the first day of the month are the busiest for me, and the woman who sits next to me is on vacation so I knew I would have to help at least one of her peeps. I took the earlier train and took a leisurely 15 minutes to walk to my office.
I am most looking forward to meal planning and grocery shopping this week. I feel lost without it, although all told, I probably only spent about $35 in food I bought downtown this week, so that’s not too bad. I picked up $3 worth of egg whites from Corner Bakery and made this plate. So yummy. 3 points for the eggs (topped with 1/2 ounce of cheese I brought from home) 2 points for the low carb bread and zero point strawberries for dessert.
I knew I was working late because people signed up for night secretary by 1:00 p.m. yesterday so I staggered my lunch and ate that at 2:00 p.m. Ham sandwich on low carb bread, baked Cheetos (16 for 2 points!) and honey crisp apple.
I took this picture at 5:30 – LOVE how light it is staying. I’ve actually never seen window washers on our building before, but then again, not sure I’d want the job of washing windows 41 stories up.
This is the view facing Northwest from my bosses office – Chicago is so pretty at night.
I worked until 7, but my train isn’t until 7:30, so I didn’t get home until nearly 9. Hannah picked me up at the train station, the full moon was gorgeous. I love how this shot turned out.
Hannah was insistent on making me dinner, and suggested Mrs. Grass soup and that sounded so good. Extra noodles please! She made this whole carton (8 smart points) and added lots of pepper and baby spinach at the end. Hit the spot after a long day.
Delish!

I have my first weigh in tomorrow in two weeks. I haven’t weighed myself, but I feel I’ve either stayed the same or maybe gained a pound. I have to be honest, I haven’t been “in the zone” lately, just kind of going through the motions.
And from the people I follow on Instagram, I am not alone. I follow one woman who lost 16 pounds in January only to gain 15 back in February. Another woman gained 6.8 pounds in a week. While I haven’t gone completely off the rails, I know I could put in a lot more effort.
So I am throwing my March goals out there to see if they will stick:
- lose 5 pounds
- once my cold is gone, hit the gym up 2 a week
- celebrate my 50th birthday and not turn it into a celebratory month š
- 100 ounces of water a day
Nothing too outrageous, but just something to keep me focused. Last year I did amazing the first 10 weeks of the year and then my birthday month hit and in the next few months gained all 20 pounds that I lost.
I have to laugh because I remember a few years ago thinking, “by the time I am 50 I will have met goal!” Well, let’s hope I can make it to goal in my 50th year. š
Happy Friyay my friends – make it a great day!
I’ve always thought you were pretty awesome, but I see you have a gem in Hannah. I love how she takes care of her momma. As we say in Texas, “the apple doesn’t fall far from this tree.” I’m praying you get some rest this weekend and “kick that cold to the curb.”
Thank you so much Irene! I appreciate it – yep, I am a lucky Momma to have such a great girl š
Love the pictures. Reminds me that the world is a beautiful place. I can so relate to being out of the zone. I will be 55 & I told myself I would be at goal & stay there when I was 50! Yep, just a bit behind but not giving up.
I’m not giving up either, we will both get there eventually!!
Hopefully you will rest a bit this weekend and be back to healthy come Monday. I was surprised to see so many missing bikes along the rack during your walk into work. I would think in the colder weather they wouldn’t get as much use. I really need to try the Mrs. Grass soup. Everyone is always surprised when I say I haven’t had it. It probably has a high amount of sodium and I steer away from stuff that does. Heart disease and high blood pressure run rampant in my family so I have always paid attention to sodium. French fires, not so much, give me all the fries! That is the one thing on WW I miss the most. I have a serving every now and then but they are my Kryptonite. I have been trying to find Jimca to see how well is subs out but haven’t had any luck yet. Feel better and have a great weekend.
Those bikes are used 365 days a year – even when there is snow on the ground! You can buy a years subscription to use the bikes for $99 a year, but you can only “rent” them for 30 minutes at a time.
Our dollar store sells the Mrs. Grass for $1 for two packages – Hannah loves it! I just ignore the sodium and drink more water š
Okay, now I want fries! š Happy Weekend!
