Even though I don’t do a full grocery shop the week of a holiday, I can always count on a simple parfait for breakfast. This one comes in at 5 points – 3 points for the cup of plain Chobani, the fruit is free, and the granola is 2 points. I’ve been trying for over a year to come up with a low point granola that doesn’t taste like ass, but haven’t hit pay dirt yet. Believe me, you’ll be the first to know!
I was super busy at work yesterday – a lot of secretaries are still out for the holiday week, so I was assigned another attorney, so that kept me hopping. I wasn’t sure I’d be able to get away to walk, but it worked out. It was warm outside, so my sister and I walked Macy’s. When I got back I put together this quick lunch – not pictured is 4 points of veggie straws. I love, love, these Joseph’s brand pita breads – low carb and only 1 point each.
Look at who much stuff you can put in there?! I did 3 ounces of turkey breast (2), 1/2 once of cheese (2), the pita (1) and with the veggie straws, lunch came in at 9 points.
As luck would have it, I didn’t have to work as night secretary last night, so I made it home by 6:45. The benefit of having an hour train ride home is that you can be productive for 30 minutes, and then take a 30 minute nap, which is what I did. I was refreshed to hit Day 3 of Insanity – Cardio Power & Resistance. Um, I forgot how many push-ups were in that one! Even with the air conditioning on in the house, I worked up a sweat.
I had some fresh tomatoes to use up and last weekend made another batch of my zero point marinara sauce. I added 3 ounces of ground sirloin and chopped zucchini to make this 10 point pasta dish. This hit the spot!
When my sister and I were walking Macy’s – this outfit stopped me in my tracks. First, I don’t think I’ve ever worn white pants in my life. And second . . .I love the blue top that went with the pants. This is a size small, but I’ve declared this my goal outfit.
Which brings me to . . .GOALS. I know we are already nearly a full week into July, but I have some goals:
- drink 96 ounces of water a day – even in summer I still struggle with the water intake
- take a paddle board class – just found out that the town next to mine has an hour paddle board class for only $35 on the weekends ($30 on the week days). I’ve always wanted to try it, who know, I may love it!
- continue with Insanity, even on vacation – I know I can find an hour to myself, even if that means getting up early to get it done, while on vacation
I may add to this as the month goes on, or leave it as is. We shall see! I am on my way to WI this morning. This will be my last WI until I get back from vacation – my Aunt lives in a small town and the nearest WW meeting is 30 miles away. Again, no idea how I did this week, but I feel smaller and “tighter” if that’s even a word to use. While I puffy heart walking, I know Insanity is going to help reshape my body that walking will never do.
Happy Thursday! Make it a great day!
Paddle boarding is on my list too. Someday I’ll finally try it!
I am going to put it on the list when I get back from vacation – you need to sign up 48 hours in advance, and all the time slots were booked up this weekend. Still going to happen though!
I love that outfit and what a great way to reward yourself. I have recently started wearing white pants and they have been some of my favorites, so much so I had to go find another pair when my first ones got too big. You are doing so well , don’t you dare give up š
Thanks for being such a great cheerleader Kym! Don’t worry, not giving up any time soon! #goaldigger
You are gonna kill it in that outfit before summer is over. Let’s show it off after work in the river walk!
That’s a deal Jacky! š
That is a super cute outfit!
Thanks Em!
Try this granola. https://www.nigella.com/recipes/andys-fairfield-granola
Eeek! Thanks Randi! I’ll check it out! š
I just put it into the recipe builder š Each cup is 24 smart points, or 240 points for the whole recipe. Even at 1/4 cup that’s still 8 points which is nearly 1/3 my day of total points. Looks delicious though!!
Wow, really? I guess you can cut down on the fruit and nuts. I thought of it because of the applesauce.
Cute outfit! Love that you’ve made it a goal.
I am hoping I can find it on super sale at the end of the summer š
First of all, I love INC clothing. So much so, that I’ve actually paid full price for a couple items that I really wanted for vacation. I have 2 tops like that one you’re showing – a blue one I bought 2 years ago for Little Helen’s bridal shower, and a pink & white one I bought for our vacation this year. I paired it with white shorts – but the shorts were long, down to my knee. I think the trick with white shorts/pants for older women is to wear neutral undies (i.e. skin tone) and not have them too tight because they’ll show all your lumps and bumps hahaha.
Secondly, we did the SUP class in the Outer Banks and I’m glad we did. While it was hard and of course, we fell in, it gave us enough confidence that last year I got a Groupon for paddleboard rentals and we went and did it on our own. Just expect a good core workout and don’t be surprised if your lower legs and feet go numb – at least mine did.
I should have known you would know that brand – I had never heard of it, but it looks like it was really nicely made – I think the top was $89? Thanks for the tips on the SUP – I think I am might try it this weekend!
I’d be all over that top if it had sleeves – love it! So did you buy the goal outfit?
I may take a SUP class next time (haha, next time, like we go all the time) we’re in Hawaii. Looks like fun, as long as the water is warm because I know I’ll be falling in a lot.
It’s funny Shelley because I thought of you – I thought “Shelley would love this color!” You don’t do sleeveless shirts? My sister doesn’t either, but I love them, I don’t care how my arms look š
This SUP class is on a quarry, so I have no idea what the temperature of the water is?!
