I didn’t come up with the idea, but I think blog reader Carol sent me a link to Roni from an Instagram post that she was going to go as a bottle of sriracha for Halloween. As luck would have it, Hannah bought me a sriracha t-shirt for my birthday last year. All I needed to buy was the green hat and red pants. Um, finding red pants was a bit tricky, but I finally found them at Goodwill for $3. The hat cost $1.50 and still had the tags on it. I know it grosses some people out wearing used clothing, but it doesn’t bother me at all. I will tell you that I do buy my underwear and bra at the store, so I am not THAT crazy. What was funny was that when I bought the red pants the woman remarked at what I great deal I got, and that the fabric of the pants will pack really well and won’t wrinkle. Um, I didn’t plan on wearing red pants after Halloween, but it was a nice tip!
The pants were super long – the top of them almost came to my boobs and you can still see how long they are in the bottom. At least they were comfy! Only ONE other person in my 12 person office dressed up. She’s pregnant and came as Wilson! This is not her, but you’ll get the idea:
I really wanted her to do something like this, but I couldn’t convince her!
I declared that next year, dressing up was going to be mandatory, and I am going to try to get the partners to withhold paychecks on October 31 if they don’t comply. Ha!
Breakfast was super easy – I made it at home and just finished it off under the broiler with a bit of cheese – hashbrowns, a fried egg, some Cabot cheese, and a piece of toast. And for the record, that’s a salad plate, not a dinner plate.
I was in charge of the mains for our potluck. I made two batches of my Award Winning Buffalo Chicken Chili – you can see in the bottom right hand picture of the collage that it BARELY fit in my 5 quart crock pot. I think there was only about 3-4 cups left – everyone loves it.
One of the secrets to my buffalo chicken chili is that I grind my own chicken breasts in the food processor – the ground chicken at the store gives me the heebie geebies. Look at how big these chicken boobs are!
And I bought nearly 4 pounds of chicken breasts for less than a package of six all beef hot dogs – crazy!
I brought all beef hot dogs and had them simmer in another crockpot with two cans of beer, so that if someone wanted a chili dog, they could have that. Lots of delicious salads, chips, hummus – it was all delicious.
My bowl and plate:
I raced home from work with the hopes that we would get any kids at our door – our town the trick or treating runs from 4-7. I got home at 5:45, and no one had come by as of yet. At 6:15, I got three little kids and that was that. I was happy to get those at least!
Dinner was quick and easy, just some alfredo pasta with fresh mozzarella and baby spinach. Tony left the spinach off of his.
Tony and I are actually headed out to see St. Vincent with Bill Murray and Melissa McCarthy. It’s just my kind of movie. I am pretty sure Tony will be taking a nap, but I am happy he’s going to see this with me.
Happy November 1st! Can’t believe it’s November already, October went by with the blink of an eye. Pretty sure they’ll be Christmas music on the radio today.
Have a great weekend!
Oh, and don’t forget to vote for my Honey Roasted Almond Shortbread Cookies – the voting ends on November 4 – thanks!
That costume is AMAZING. I LOVE IT!! 🙂
I saw this on Instagram. What a funny costume idea!!
LOVE your costume! Halloween is my favorite holiday and I always look forward to trick-or-treaters. We live on a busy street and don’t get many, but this year we were lucky – the weather was great and we got 11! Such great costumes, little cuties! Hope you have a great week! 🙂
Hate to break it to you Erica, but Bill Murray was born in the north suburbs of Chicago, then moved to New York as a young adult.

He has homes in New York, Charleston, L.A. and Martha’s Vineyard.
Nice job on the office food!! I love that you grind your own meat- that’s fantastic. Did you know bill Murray is from Charleston? He owns the local minor league baseball team here too!
Cute costume! Good luck in the Fisher contest. I just voted 🙂
Thanks Lisa – I appreciate it!
I’d say that you looked HOT in your costume! ;]
Ha – love it Traci! 😀
Perfect costume!
Thanks Andrea!
Love your costume – great choice for you!
I really want to see that movie – enjoy.
It was so good Kim – I knew nothing about it going in, which is how I like to go into seeing movies – no preconceived ideas.
Happy November to you too!!! LOL of course, you are just one “red hot Sriracha bottle of sauce” and very spicey too!!! Your food for the office potluck looks good. Hope you are enjoying your day today.
We had 0 trick or treaters, I was ready just in case….the porch light was not on, so no visitors. There did not seem to be a lot of kids on the block like there used to be….times are a changing.
Yep, I think you are right – I know that the local mall by us had trick or treating there – maybe it’s just safer that way?
You have the coolest costumes. I like they are original ideas and you make them yourself. I did love the “Guy” costume. I wonder if your new “BFF” Sunny showed it to him when she liked your photo? We only had three sets of “trick or treaters” but they were a good size of group of five or more 🙂
I am sure she did, being that we are BFFs! 😀 Jealous of all your trick or treaters!
Your costume is adorable!
Thanks Jan! 😀
