It was one of my bosses birthdays over the weekend, but she wasn’t in the office until yesterday. Did you know that Panera has a Tuesday special on bagels? $6.99 for 13 bagels! I ended up having a picky plate breakfast – 1/2 an oat bran bagel with a shmear of 5 calorie “butter” grapes, a hard boiled egg with hot sauce, thank you very much, and 1.5 ounces of diced deli ham.
This was surprisingly filling for only 307 calories! Had a leg workout that I knew was going to be tough just by looking at it. Holy balls was I right – this leg workout took me 40 minutes to complete!
- Barbell step up – 10 reps x 3 sets
- Single Leg Smith Machine leg press 10 reps x 4 sets
- Single Leg Cable Side Leg Raise 15 reps x 4 sets
- Cable squat 15 reps x 3 sets
- Seated Leg Curl 10 reps x 5 sets
- Sumo Squats with Arm Raise 10 reps x 4 sets
- Stationary Side Lunge 10 reps x 4 sets
Here is a video that has some of the exercises in it. The exercises that I made red are new to me! The hardest and longest exercise for me? The side cable leg raise – that was 15 reps ON EACH leg times 4 sets! After each set I had to stretch because my side muscles (whatever those are called!) were screaming at me. Needless to say, my legs are a bit sore today – back exercises are on the menu today. Since my strength took me so long, I literally only got 5 minutes on the treadmill before I had to head back to the office. Again Kym, had most of the gym to myself.
I ended up bringing the leftover pasta from the night before – whole wheat pasta mixed with baby spinach and topped with broccoli tomato sauce. I realized this had no protein to speak of, but luckily I ate lunch at almost 2:30 so it kept me full until dinner.
I had to stop by Walgreen’s and pick up my insulin prescription. Remember the link I mentioned yesterday for the free trial offer for FIVE insulin pens from the manufacturer? Well, I thought it might not work once they saw that I did have insurance, but it totally went through. Not sure if my insurance was billed or not, but we’ll see – all I know is that it saved me $580 bucks and I paid zero dollars! #winning
I saw this glass on an end cap that had stuff on sale. I almost bought it, but realized I have way too many cups at home.
Over the weekend when Tony and I went to The Fresh Market, we picked up two ahi tuna steaks – a bit of a splurge at $11 for both, but totally worth it. I have this soy sesame sauce, while high in sodium, a little goes a long way. I literally just brushed each side of the tuna in the soy sesame sauce and then rolled the sides of the tuna in this sesame mixture.
I served mine with zucchini and 3/4 cup cooked white rice. I may have added some sriracha to mine. Although I wish I would have taken the picture before adding the sriracha – it kinda looks like ketchup to me in this picture!
I didn’t realize how close I was to my 10,000 step goal! Just missed it.
This morning I woke up and both my eyes were crusted shut – gross – hope you aren’t enjoying your breakfast right now with that visual!
My eye doctor opens at 9 so I am going to try to get in there this morning – I texted my boss and the two other secretaries to let them know, and my boss thinks its pink eye, but my eyes don’t itch and I thought pink eye made your eyes itch like crazy. So I am sporting my eye glasses at the moment, that are approximately 14 years old – sexy! I put eye drops in my eyes so the redness went away, but my eyes are super sore when I touch them for some reason.
Probably because I was crying during the Little Couple last night. Bill surprised his wife Jen with a vow renewal and had 50 family and friends fly in and surprise Jen. I am a sucker for little people AND weddings!

When Jen saw her Aunt Barbara who hadn’t flown on a plane in 38 years, but did to get to the wedding, I lost it! Tony just shakes his head at me sometimes!
I have time to squeeze in a walk since I have to wait to call the eye doctor at 9. Gotta get those steps in! Make it a great day!
Dang it! I haven’t watched that episode of The Little Couple yet! LOL no worries – it would have been a month or two before I had time to sit down and watch it anyway.
Hope nothing serious is going on with your eyes !
Hope your eyes are okay.
I had to laugh that you were crying at the little couple. Let me say this: if I was there with you we would have needed 2 boxes of tissues and R. would be sitting next to Tony rolling his eyes 🙂
We’d be crying and walking buddies – love it!
You know I am sure you are a great legal whatever but you are a great motivator, trainer, blogger and cook! Plus i am sure i am leaving out something! Hope the eye gets better fast! My glasses are that old, too!
Ha – you are too nice Abbe – hugs!
haha, that cup is awesome!
I had red, red eyes for a while and thought it was pink eye, but it turned out to be allergies! Hope you have a quick solution to it.
Thanks Lori – I am sure you are glad John’s back! 😀
That cup made me crack up!!! I would be tempted to buy it too but I have a great tumbler that a very sweet gal gave me and I use it daily….LOL!! (Thanks again BTW) Score on the insulin! Awesome! And last night when I was flipping thru channels i saw a show called Little Women of LA. Extremely opposite scene of the Little Couple! Your workouts are great, KEEP it going girlfriend!
OMG, I was just asking Tony if he had seen the commercials for that show Little Women of LA! (and I may secretly record it on the DVR!)
Thanks for the cheering Jody!
I love that teriyaki sauce!
I’ve had some weird eye stuff going on for awhile now – my right eye waters a lot (nonstop) and has been swollen in the corner. The DR said maybe just a clogged tear duct. Hopefully your eye thing is an easy fix and doesn’t bug you too much!!!
I wonder how you unclog a tear duct??! Feel better!
I hope it’s not pink eye, that’s the worst! Maybe it’s just allergies. Mine have been really bad lately!
Just taking the drops for the last two days have made all the difference – thanks Lisa!
Great workout and food 🙂 I cry over everything always have.
Hope your eyes are better soon
Thanks Suzi! 😀
I have to laugh at Jessica’s comment. My daughter and I feel the same way about that song. I wish I could get past the pink color of the Tuna. My brain knows it is cooked but somehow I relate it to a med rare steak (yuck for me). Fourteen year old glasses? Your prescription hasn’t changed any in fourteen years? Hoping you don’t have pink eye.
It took me a long time to get over the color of the tuna – now I love it! And yes, my glasses are 14 years old, because I am so blind that they cost $500 back then to get the lenses thin enough so that my glasses would be comfortable to wear. They aren’t my strength now, but its fine for watching t.v. – that being said CANNOT wait to wear my contacts tomorrow!
I can cry over a 30-second Hallmark commercial, so I’m totally with ya. I have also teared up over a TV soap opera wedding! My two big things I cry over really easily are old people an animals. Just hearing that damned Sarah McLachlan song for the ASPCA/Humane Society commercial is the worst!
Me too Jessica! That’s why I could never watch Hallmark movies because the commercials always made me cry!
And we have to change the channel when that ASPCA commercial comes on too
That dinner looks SERIOUSLY gourmet. I hope you don’t have pink eye! We just went through that with Kay and then I sort of kind of got it…nasty. My eyes hurt just thinking about it.
No pink eye – but poor Baby K – that’s awful for a little kid. 🙁
Awesome workout! Hope it’s not pink eye – that sucks. I’ve only ever had it once but I don’t ever want it again.
I love that Krazy Jane’s seasoning. I’ve never seen the sesame one before, but we had some sort of original mixed seasoning from them and haven’t been able to find it since we ran out of it.
I wish I could remember where I bought it – did you find yours in the regular grocery store?
No, we ended up finding ours at a place called Ocean State Job Lot – kind of like a Big Lots type place, but local to New England.
Ooo, maybe your eyes are due to allergies?? I hope it’s just that. Love your breakfast! I love those plates with lots of different stuff – of course, I think that can be a problem for big eaters like myself. Too many options means I choose to eat too many things! That’s where counting and measuring comes in handy. I need something to help me know when to stop! I love the Little Couple too! He’s such a sweet guy for her…and those kids are cute, too. I keep telling my husband that Zoe looks like a little doll. He just stares at me – although he was kind of watching it with me last night 😉 Have a great day!
Luckily it’s not allergies – not sure I could handle that with our weather – seems every other day there is a pollen alert for our area!
Zoey looks exactly like a doll! 😀
