In case you missed it over the weekend, I’ve made it into the land of the 150s! I am finding my inner athlete that was in there the whole time, she just needed to be woken up, that’s all. It’s hard for me to believe though that the lower right picture of me on the track team at O.P.R.F. was 30 years ago – wow!
So now my next goal? 149 pounds. I am not going to officially WI in here until . . . October 5. I think six weeks is the perfect amount of time to lose 10 pounds. Think I can do it?
One of my goals over the weekend was to weed out the 1000s of photographs that I no longer need to keep on the computer. I was a bit overzealous and erased my pictures from Saturday – oops! Tony will just be happy to know that I got rid of 10,720 photos (even I was surprised by that number!) and gave us 10.1 GB more memory. Thank goodness I took some pics on my iPhone!
One of the things on my list of things I wanted to do over the weekend was get my eyebrows threaded. You can tell by my face before going in I am not happy because I know it hurts like a bitch even though it lasts less than 2 minutes and is worth the $7 of torture.
Um, yeah, I guess I let them get a little out of hand. And after!
If I had done the same thing with waxing, it would look like Tony beat me up and the swelling would last for days. Usually by the next day, the redness goes away.
We enjoyed one of my favorite summer beers that both Tony and I can enjoy:
And I ended up getting a $5 dollar 5 pound chicken to grill out for dinner Saturday night. This bird was so big, I can easily make 2 more meals out of it. Click on this post to see how to grill a perfect chicken.
While we’ve had warmer days in the last few days, our nights have been cool, once the sun goes down its very pleasant sitting outside.
Sunday morning was a lazy/productive morning. I slept in a bit, did some laundry and made some shitty ass muffins. I am sure the recipe is just fine, but I forgot my muffin tin at work. We have another office birthday and I was going to bring in muffins. I thought this would work – just line cupcake liners on a baking sheet, fill them fast with the batter and then put them quickly in the oven.
But this is what happened.
Yep, they became square and kind of like one giant muffin. And they didn’t rise very much either. I still think I am going to take them though – they are oatmeal raisin muffins. I mean, I’ve had people I’ve worked with eat leftover donuts that are a week old, I think they’ll eat misshapen muffins.
I did make another dish though – check out this peanut butter banana cake! Except I made mine in a pie pan (could not find my 8×8 pan – that’s probably at work too!). I’ll share the photos and adapted version of the recipe tomorrow.
Next thing I knew it was after noon and I hadn’t really had anything to eat other than a few licks and tastes of the muffins. I decided to make Portillo style hot dogs at home – I had all beef hotdogs, poppy seed buns and crinkle cut fries. My topping? Lots of yellow mustard and my pickled jalapenos – a jar snuck into the back of my fridge and I was so happy when I found it!
I was contemplating what to do for my exercise – and not kidding I was eating that hot dog and thought “I think I’ll run 5 miles today.” I did a 55 minute Insanity workout on Saturday and I wanted to do something different. It went by fast because I was watching the Little League World Series – such a good game!
I did it under an hour! Woop! And I didn’t feel like I needed a nap when I was done.
With the cool down:
After that I went to the grocery store – spent a little over my planned budget of $50 bucks, but only by $11 – not too bad!
Tony didn’t have much of an appetite last night for dinner, so guess what is my back up when I am just making dinner for myself?? PIZZA! Yes. I couldn’t let a whole weekend go by without one! When I was cleaning out the fridge I found some dough that was a couple weeks old – still good though! I made a small spinach and sausage pizza. So easy, simple and delicious.
I hope to take advantage of the outdoor pool this week – so sad that it will be closed after labor day. And I am back to my last week of the 40 minute Insanity’s at night until next week when they go back to 50-60 minutes. It makes the 40 minute ones seem like not a big deal!
I am off to make a glaze for my banana bread – it kind of fell overnight so we’ll see how it turns out. That’s why I don’t bake much (other than bread!) because it never seems to turn out for me.
Questions of the Day: Do you have any fall goals? Did you accomplish everything you wanted to this summer?
Make it a great day!
You are doing great! Wow, the 150’s. 🙂
I have the opposite problem with eyebrows. I say when I get to heaven, I’m going to have a perfect, beautiful voice so I can sing in the choir and I’ll also have eyebrows. Yep.
Congrats to you! I have no doubts that you can hit 149!
This is great! That is so great that you are losing weight, happy, and healthy! Great job!! I love how your eyebrows came out, kinda prompted me to go tweeze mine:) I think you can hit 149 if you keep at this pace and positive energy, why not right?! You can do it! My Fall goals are to push a little harder at the gym since my shoulder is pretty much healed up. I can do pull-ups again in October, so that will be fun to get those going again. I have a SUP race this Saturday- gulp:)
I’ve been taking 3 mile walks every morning bright and early before work and/or anyone wakes up in the house. It’s a bitch to get up that early, but my day feels so much better when I do it! By the way you look great – I can really tell a difference!
I think I may do the same thing – even if just 30 minutes to get the right mind set for the day – before we know it we’ll be snow blowing so we may as well enjoy it while we can! 😀
I loved the picture of your kids wearing goggles while watching cartoons – too cute!
That is sooo cool Biz, congrats on making it to the 150s! I can’t wait to get back there myself! My eyebrows are starting to need threading/waxing too so I might have to bite the bullet. I tried plucking them but have no idea what I’m doing and they ended up all short on the sides-haha!
That’s why I can’t pluck my eyebrows for shit – they never work out right. You look great V! Only 15 weeks to go until baby Joshua is here!
Be proud Vat, you look and obviously feel marvelous!!!
Thanks Roz!
Brows look great. So when you say you had your brows threaded, did you just have them plucked with a tweesers??? Guess I better go google that.
My husband is coming to your house…..I told him you were making Lasagna Soup this week 🙂
Well good job on the weight loss. I can’t remember when I was 159…been waaayyyy toooooo Long ago. I know you can do the next 10 with ease!!!
Gosh….that is something I would have done, “so why wouldn’t muffins work in their lining…who needs a muffin tin???” (moi) I am sure they still tasted great!!
Pictures…I always move my pictures to a flash drive, would find it hard to get rid of all my pictures.
Have a great rest of the day!!!
Ok…brow threading….now I know, shall have to try that myself 😉
Just be prepared for pain when you get your eyebrows threaded – but its short-lived! Tell J.P. I’ll send him a bowl of soup! 😀
That’s awesome that you’re in the 150’s! I know you can reach your goal of 10 pounds. I think your eyebrows look great or maybe you just didn’t like the redness? You know I’m back in my glory this week with the pool. I just got out in fact 🙂
Yep, I always think of you once the temps get close to the 90s because I know you’ll be in your pool! I LOVED the video of your grandson walking at 10 months – I watched it 10 times!!
149? No problem for you….!! Totally have faith.
I laughed out loud at the muffins – don’t you HATE that….?? I’m sure they are still delicious though.
Tyler’s and Becky’s was so fun! Can’t believe they are off to Paris on Thurs! Ahhhh newlyweds….those were the days 🙂
I just found out today that’s where he was going – he needs to spill the beans more often! Glad you guys had a great time – and enjoyed the time with no kids. 😀
Your flat muffins look like something that would happen to me!
Ha – I think you’d do better! I am such a better cook than a baker.
Congrats on being in the 150’s!! That’s awesome! Also, the muffins look hilarious 😀 I bet they still taste good though!
Nope, they kind of tasted like ass too! Your Jamaica trip looked amazing!
Of course I think you’ll make the goal! You have been just rocking through these challenges! Your pizzas always make me hungry. Whoops on the muffins ;). I bet they’re still yummy. I did pretty well on my summer goals. I have one fall goal…not ready to disclose!
Thanks Erica! Can’t wait to see what your fall goal is! 😀
Congrats on the weigh in! You should be very proud!
I’ve been avoiding the scale all summer. 🙁
Thanks Lisa!
OMG BIZ!!!!! So happy for you being the 150’s! I definitely think you can make your next goal!
Thanks Anne Marie! Hope your son is feeling better. 😀
Yes, you’ll make your next goal!!! You are on the right path and nothing can stop you! 🙂
One of my goals for this summer was to continue to eat right while traveling, and I did that, and I’m very glad.
I think you eat very well all the time Andrea – I wish I ate as many vegetables as you!
I want to run a half marathon by the end of the year…so I guess that’s a fall goal, right? I hear you on the need to clean up the computer. I backed up all my photos on two external/back up hard drives this weekend and at this moment am about to hit delete on them on my computer so hopefully it’ll run faster (it’s sooooooooooooo slow!)
That is definitely a fall goal, especially where you live! Our computer definitely runs faster. 😀
Fall goals are to hike at least once a week, join in the local climb against cancer (a three mile hike up Mt. Cranmore, NH) and take a day a week to just relax. I’ve been working 6 days a week for a while now.
I agree, a day to relax makes all the difference – I used to feel guilty, but not anymore – and last weekend I took 2 days off! Good luck on your goals. 😀
You look fantastic!
Fall goal is to a run a 5k again! Getting close… Then, I’m planning a 10k for the spring. As for the summer, I really should have stepped up the weight loss game. At least doing the C25k has kept me moving and doing SOMETHING. 😉 Have a great week, Biz!
Thanks Carrie! And congrats on running 20 minutes without stopping – that’s awesome!
Well, you know my summer has been one of regeneration, recuperation, reinvigoration and meeting some of my own goals. It’s been a good summer!
If you want to prep yourself for that 5K race you keep talking about you need to put that treadmill on a 1 or 2% incline! Just do it – you’re getting in such great shape from your Insanity workouts you can handle it.
You have had a great summer Helen, and I could not be happier for you! And so happy you are back to blogging, I wanted to see those Grand Canyon pics! Okay, I will listen to you Helen and up the incline! 😀
I just looked up threading eyebrows and oh my goodness it sounds uncomfortable. I always wondered if that was just a cute name you gave an eyebrow wax. How does one find a person qualified to do such a task? My fall goals are to downsize, clear clutter and get super organized. No such luck on my summer goals 🙁
Yes, its painful, but its a quick pain! I just went to the place in Wal-Mart – the $7 price tag got me, and so far everyone I’ve had to it does a good job. Here’s to both of us having a great fall!
Dang, Biz – you look awesome!!!
I’ve never had my eyebrows threaded – years of monthly waxing have pretty much taken care of them and now I rarely have to do much to them – that threading sounds painful!
My only fall goals – finish my year of 43s (less than 3 weeks to go!), run 44 miles on my b-day and run 50 mile race in Oct. After that I don’t know!!
Good luck with the new goal – I know you will get it!!
Thanks Kim! You are crazeballs doing those insanely long runs, but if anyone can do it, you can!
I’m the same way with my eyebrows, I hate getting them waxed, they stay red and puffy for days. We’re so much alike, I constantly am saying, “Me too” when reading your blog. You also need to do what I just did, thicken your bangs a bit so they aren’t as stringy and wispy. Mine were just like yours and I had them cut and they look much better now. It’s 8 am but that Bud Light Lime looks really good! I haven’t tried that!
I’m going vegan for September. I joined a challenge and have always been intrigued by the idea. Hope I can stick to it! I will miss my eggs the most!
Yep, we both have sensitive skin don’t we?! I have such thin hair Debbi, not sure I could get thicker bangs. At least if you go vegan you can have your beloved sweet potatoes!
