Yep, I had another Green Monster for breakfast, although I do agree with a few of you that commented, I missed the “chew” of a meal.  I think these will make an appearance a couple times a week, but I miss my eggs and cheese in the morning!

And I stole Tony’s cup – it’s the only tall one that has a lid so I don’t spill it all over the car on my way to work. Open-mouthed smile

I ended up running a 5k at lunch.  Thank goodness that they have mini t.v.’s on the treadmill because my phone was d.e.a.d. as a doornail.  With a 5 minute walking warm up, I did the 5k in 39:02.

I had the last of my Bush’s chili and a cooked baked potato leftover from Sunday dinner.  It was enough to split, so I made this dish for my boss.

1/2 a large baked potato, 3/4 cup of chili, 1/2 ounce of cheese, baby spinach and roasted jalapenos.  That entire generous portion of food comes in at 437 calories, 16 fat, 53 carbs, 8.8 fiber and 23 grams of protein.

I think the roasted jalapenos leftover from when I made salsa over the weekend made the dish. Open-mouthed smile

My boss loved it!  Later in the day she asked me how many calories the dish was, and when I told her it was 437 calories I thought she was going to faint – you see, she’s used to her 210 calorie Lean Cuisines – and the thought of eating almost 450 calories for lunch was crazy to her – and she said that she’d probably skip dinner.

When I asked what she had for breakfast, she said a bowl of cereal – so we are talking less than 700 calories for the day!  And while she is a size 6, it got me to think that maybe skinny doesn’t necessarily mean that you are healthy.   I can’t imagine thinking that at 700 calories, I’d be done for the day eating.

But I do know how many people have struggled with eating disorders – two of my favorite bloggers are trying to keep it together each and every day after restricting food, weighing themselves constantly – but they are growing up, getting healthy, and I am proud of both of them – if you haven’t checked out Sophia or Melissa’s blogs, go say hello and tell them I sent you. Open-mouthed smile

When I left work to go home, it was still 95 degrees.  Seriously?  I am so sick of this heat.  It’s the most we’ve run our central air in years.  My plan to grill went out the window – our gas grill is on the side of the house that gets the sun set and its too hot to stand out there in the sun for too long.

Plan B.  Indoor grill pan with skinny pork chops, leftover brown rice and a cucumber and mozzarella salad that’s been tossed in a bit of olive oil, balsamic vinegar and crushed red peppers.  Dinner comes in at 495 calories, 22 fat, 39 carbs, 3.1 fiber and 33 protein.

It wasn’t until I put in my food for the day that I realized I was around 1200 calories for the day.  Later on as Tony and I were watching Robot Chicken (seriously, you have to see this show  – its on Adult Swim) that I pulled out the Merck’s port wine cheese and some garlic crostini.

My fatal flaw?  Not measuring out the portions.  I just brought the jar with a knife and the package of garlic crostini and put it on the table between us.  It was mindless eating if you ask me, and I have no idea how much I ate, but I can tell you how much less cheese and crostini were in their respective containers.

My guess?  It was a 456 calories, 31 fat, 30 carb, .5 fiber and 17 grams of protein.  I may as well have had a fourth meal for the day!

But, I am not going to beat myself up, just recognize it, learn from it and move on. Open-mouthed smile

Stats for August 7:

  • 1732 calories, 81 fat, 155 carbs, 20.5 fiber and 96 protein
  • 5k run at lunch
  • 80.8 miles to reach 100 miles in August

I saw this video on Marion’s blog and thought instantly that my brother would love it, (check out his latest blog post about his hair after chemo!) but I really love it too!  Does anyone remember watching this guy when they were little on PBS?
