In keeping with the fried fest theme – one of Tony’s favorite donuts is a Boston cream donut. I searched high and low for recipes and they all involved a 2 1/2 hour process, letting the dough rise for an hour, cutting the donuts out, letting them rise again – until I found the ultimate recipe thanks to Christy at The Southern Plate! It is so simple, I can’t believe I didn’t think of it!
- 1 roll of refrigerator biscuits (not layers)
- 1 small vanilla pudding
- 1.5 cup milk
- 8 ounces whip cream
- chocolate frosting in a can

I took about 3 tablespoons of the chocolate frosting and melted in the microwave for 30 seconds until it got nice and shiny.

Seriously, it took longer to heat the oil than it did to make these! Pretty sure these are a keeper!!

I did decide that these were insulin worthy! I had one without filling and one with – lord have mercy these were divine!!
Joe is coming around noon today and then on to round two of fried food fest! See you then!
Oh my goodness, those look sooooo darn yummy! Not the healthiest, but Father’s Day is a day for treats, right? ;). They look very cute too. Great job!
Lucky lucky Tony! So true, they look devine!
Oh my heavens! Homemade donuts are so impressive! I love your little shortcuts, it reminds me of Sandra Dee’s “semi homemade” tricks! I bet Tony will love them!
YUMMM!!! Anything chocolate is yummy in my book!
Those are my favorite donuts, too! Never would have thought they were that easy – thanks for sharing!
Most definitely insulin worthy! Those look delicious!!
