I had planned on taking Ed to the trails this morning, but I ended up sleeping in a bit. So I had to settle on a 20 minute walk to the river. Although it was already 40 degrees it was quite windy!
Believe it or not, I was actually going to make cottage cheese pancakes for breakfast, but time got away from me. So let’s see, what should I have?
Every time I eat canteloupe, the smell immediately makes me think of my Grammy’s house. Every summer, my brother, sister and I would visit our grandparents in Virginia. It was a tiny town called Warsaw, and the arrival of Chicago relatives routinely made the local paper!
I can remember sitting at her kitchen table, with a bowl of freshly cut canteloupe, and the smell of cinnamon bread that she made with white bread and put under the broiler. The result was a crispy crust and a soft/chewy middle – melt in your mouth sugar cinnamon deliciousness!
And of course as any good cook, she always had a container of bacon fat that she used to cook the best scrambled eggs! Those are always good memories.
Do you have a certain food that takes you back to a particular place in time?
Morning break is over – see you at lunch!
I love cantaloupe! I just had some today!
Beautiful pictures..it must have been a wonderful walk.
What pretty pictures, and a yummy breakfast!
definitely foods relate to memories! when I have a toast with cheese and preserves and coffee it reminds my Sundays back in Argentina, I used to spend the whole morning with my bf having breakfast and reading newspaper/magazines. So enjoyable! 😀
The smell of lemons makes me think of my old girlfriend MariKay, and my Impala, and rabbit fur jackets, and web feet, and Manfred Mannn’s Earth Band’s Blinded By The Light on the radio.
Next time I will cover what I think of when I smell baby oil…..
Okay Tony, your list made me laugh out loud!
That’s why I love you! 😀
Mmm that bacon fat sounds delicious! 😉
Great question, but offhand I can’t think of anything! Although, when I smell sweet breakfast cereals it usually makes me think of my little brother and us hurriedly getting ready for school in the morning! haha
The smell of baking bread always takes me back to when I was a child, my Dad always baked bread, he never bought it from a shop. Funny he does now.
Your breakfast pic looks amazing. I can see why they call it food porn.
BTW I’ve moved my blog to wordpress

The first walk pictures – spring is near! I look forward to watching the new season appear.
My grandmother made the best vegetable soup and always served it with warm homemade bread and butter.
I knew you would love the river pics! 😀
oh yeah 🙂
My mom always makes fudge pies at Thanksgiving and Christmas, and that’s the only time we have them. Just the smell of them baking is amazing.
Love the pics! So pretty. Cinnamon toast already takes me back to my grandmother making it for me when I was little.
I am the Queen of Nostalgia. Everything I smell reminds me of something 🙂

That breakfast looks phenomenal! I haven’t had an English muffin in a while but I have some in my freezer. You just reminded me to get them out 🙂
It’s finally starting to warm up a little – yay!! Since I eat so many of the same things over and over, food always takes me back to memories!
