It’s so funny when I think how diverse our television show watching is.   Since it was Thursday night last night, that meant an NFL game.  Double bonus was that mixed martial arts was on another channel, so when the football game got boring, he would just switch back and forth.  Tony was in heaven!

Me?  I made a pot of pasta fagioli (I just did spell check on fagioli and it said “did you mean fagging?!) for my lunch today and then I watched an episode of Sing-Off and the last episode of Top Chef.  It was a win/win for both of us!  Do you and your significant other have the same t.v. show taste??

Of course, there are the standard shows we watch together:  American Pickers, Modern Family, the Office, Raising Hope.  I don’t even know how we survived so many years before a DVR!

I made breakfast nachos yesterday morning – only one thing went wrong.  I didn’t put the egg whites in my lunch bag!  So instead of having 1/4 cup refried beans, I upped it to 1/2 cup (3 poings) with 2 corn tortillas made into tortilla chips (2 points), 1/2 ounce cheddar cheese (1 point) with an orange sent from my MIL.  6 PointsPlus.

This orange is by far the best one I’ve had all year.  When I first started peeling it, I thought “oh, its a ruby red grapefruit!”  But it was an orange – so juicy!

I had every intention of working out at lunch.  I’ve stated that I purposely take half the amount of insulin at breakfast, and eat a piece of fruit before working out.  I ate the orange around 10:45 (with no insulin) and had to cover the front desk until noon.  Around 11:30 I could feel the sweat start to drip, and I knew my blood sugar was dropping.

I had someone cover the phones and when I got to my desk, my blood sugar was 43.  Rats!  I ended up eating 3 mini Twix bars and 1/2 a chocolate chip cookie (10 PlusPoints!) to get it up to 100.  Even at 100 that’s not enough to work out, so since I normally make Sunday my rest day, I am going to switch it this week.

Lunch was leftover beef stew – you can actually see one of the pieces of cauliflower – it kind of absorbed the beefy flavor – delicious!  8 PointsPlus.

I called Tony yesterday to tell him that I forgot to marinate the skirt steak for dinner.  He ended up marinating it in olive oil and lots of garlic.  My first thought was to use our cast iron grill pan and get it screaming hot, but it smokes up the whole house.  So I did it in our cast iron skillet – we both missed the charred marks, but it was tender and delicious.  And because it was so thin, it cooked up in just a couple minutes.

I had 1/2 cup of rice with red bell pepper and basil (3 points), asparagus (0), and 3 ounces of skirt steak (5 points).  8 Flex Points.

I want to thank Ally for her wonderful giveaway win – check out my Christmas loot!

Can I tell you how stoked I am to have this cookie cutter?!  Can you believe I’ve never had a snowman cookie cutter before?

I think I'll be making sugar cookies for my neighbors this year 😀

Stats for Thursday:

  • 32 points used
  • 0 flex points remain
  • 30 activity points no used
  • average blood sugar 90

So what are you plans for the weekend?  While Hannah’s shopping is all done, wrapped and under the tree (shocker!) I haven’t even started my Christmas shopping.  But I can usually do it all in one day – at least I have a plan!

So I have lot’s of cookies to make, brittle to make for my cookie exchange at work on Monday.  We are also having an ugly sweater contest on Monday too – so a trip to the thrift store is in order.  And then on Sunday Hannah and I are going to my Mom’s church holiday dinner on Sunday night.   Should be a bizzy weekend!

Have a great Friday and weekend and I’ll see you on Monday – come back on Monday for a delicious pasta fagioli soup recipe! 😀

I almost forgot my Hot 100 Update! So tomorrow is my first official weigh in after the first week of WW.  I think I did well – I haven’t gone over my points, I’ve exercised, but I still feel like I am eating a lot.  Come back Monday for the recap! 😀
