Wow, did it rain yesterday! Pretty much off and on all day long. One of our blog challengers Beth got water in her basement it was so bad! Hope it’s all better by today B! Thankfully the sun is out and our high today is 72 – perfect!
While I was blogging yesterday I cooked up a 4 ounce potato to go with my egg white, spinach, ham and cheese eggs with fruit. I really do love my microwave egg cooker.
There was no chance for a walk at lunch, so I went to the gym. I started out with 10 minutes of abs on the ball, then walked a quick 2 miles while watching The Chew – the show was about grilling! But it wasn’t anything I already knew – duh – I am pretty much a grill master – ha! I guess some people don’t realize that you can put a skillet or pan directly on the grill. I am following a bunch of grill masters on Instagram and I questioned one of them about the type of grill I should get – and he told me to “hold on” because a new product is coming out that’s going to be amazing. I bet it has a $1000+ pricetag though! All I know is that I need a bit more grill space, especially when I grill several things to have later in the week. Lunch was a Greek chicken pita with tzatziki, spinach, red cabbage and a bit of cheese with the best cherries.
Around 4:30 I decided to test my blood sugar and it was 125 – fuck. I want it to be at least 220, so I went in my lunch bag and ate the rest of my fruit – about a cup and that was enough fuel to get through my strength and finish another 2 miles on the treadmill – this time at a slower pace (3.6) but at 15.0 incline – holy balls I was sweating with that one!
The Bitesized Fitness chest routine took me just over 25 minutes to complete.
I loved my workout shirt yesterday – it was one of the .99 cent ones from the thrift store and it’s Danskin – I love the length of it and it’s really soft.
I had burgers on the menu along with . . . onion rings. Yep. More onions on My Bizzy Kitchen – the world has gone crazy!! I picked up these onions at the farmers market called candy onions – sweet like a vadalia, but much smaller. I only used one onion for the whole batch, and added just a few to the top of my burger salad. I don’t think I’ll ever eat a burger at home with a bun because this salad was amazeballs. Fresh farmers market spinach, red cabbage, carrots, cucumber topped with two teaspoons of light Caesar dressing, then I put the three ounce sirloin burger on top of that, then drizzled some of the chimichurri sauce I made over the weekend and then topped it off with the onion rings. You guys, I ate every.single.bite. Best part – the nutrition wasn’t bad! This whole plate comes in at 543 calories, 26 fat, 50 carbs, 9 fiber and 33 grams of protein.
Rummy wanted in on dinner too – such a diva with her painted toes!
So even without my morning walk I did pretty good and got just over 13k steps for the day.
Alright, gotta get this show on the road – I have about 25 minutes for a walk, then I need to get my food together for the day. We have birthday treats today at the office and I made peanut butter and banana muffins with an oatmeal crumble on top. I’ll be posting the recipe tomorrow – they are made with Greek yogurt, and the only butter is 1 tablespoon that’s mixed in with the topping so each one comes in at around 180 calories – nice!
Make it a great day!!
Cute toenails. Great thrift store buys. We don’t ever get quite that great a deal. I need to find some better thrift stores because I could use a few summer shirts.
Onion rings …. yum! We had a fantastic supper tonight during training for my new position. Corn flake and crispy french fried onion chicken with a cheese sauce and grilled asparagus, salad with homemade raspberry vinaigrette, and this creamy rice dish with red peppers and mushrooms. So, so good! I actually have the house to myself tonight so I stopped for a glass of wine on the way home. Now, it’s Netflix and pajama time! Have a good one, Biz!
That sounds amazing Erin! Love that you had some wine and did Netflix and pjs!
omg, those onion rings look amazing. Please send some of the rain our way, we need it. We just got a letter from our HOA telling us we’re going to have to get rid of our grill( on the balcony). I am so upset about it. J grilled us chicken last night and I made various veggie foil packets with farmers market veggies and they were so good.
Aw, that stinks – we’ve had such a cool and rainy summer – this morning it was 54 degrees – perfect sleeping weather so I didn’t want to get up!
Those onion rings look delish but I am staying away from fried stuff 🙂 That burger looks drool worthy atop that beautiful salad! I never eat a burger on a bun at home anymore…on a plate w/ lettuce, tomatoes, onions, dill pickles and ketchup. YUM. Tonight it’s BLT’s on sourdough w/ another walk at the park to round out the day. 🙂
Just a few onion rings were the perfect edition – I dipped them in egg whites and bread crumbs – so easy when you have a deep fryer – since it holds the perfect frying temp, nothing is ever greasy – it sears the outside without getting on the inside 😀
hahahha- I haven’t seen a dog with painted nails since my sister and I were little and we used to paint our dogs nails with water color paint ;). The burger salad looks ridiculous good. You are the grill master. Glad you’re slowly coming around on the onions 😉
That is too cute – and yes, slowly coming around to the onions, but basically I’ll eat anything deep fat fried 😀
I’m digging that pups painted toe nails; brought a big smile to my face!
I’ll be sure to tell Hannah! 😀
OMG….the red toenails are HILARIOUS!!!!!!
Roz, Hannah is crazeballs about that dog – she carries her around like a baby – it’s really pretty funny!
That burger salad looks incredible. And so do you! But I love those nails! They kind of look like mine. HAH! But I’d be clawing to get at that salad! And onions? I’m still in shock!
It’s the onion loving people that live with me that are rubbing off on me! Still can’t get Hannah to eat a steak, but that just means more for me and Jacob! 😀
That’s a cute tank top! And that burger salad looks fantastic. I’m trying to lose the bun most of the time when I eat a burger…it has to be really good bread (one place we go uses King’s Hawaiian buns – YES PLEASE), or else I remove it.
I agree – I am sure you’ve had a burger on Texas toast, no? A place near us ironically called the Texan makes a grilled burger on Texas garlic toast and it’s amazeballs and totally worth it!
Onions onions and more onions!
I know, can you believe it Carrie?!
that shirt is adorable and I can’t believe it was 0.99. I swear I’m going to have to fly to Chicago to hit your thrift stores because ours are so expensive!!
That burger salads looks SOOOO awesome, I can’t believe it.
Belated great job on the weight loss last week! I gained a pound. 🙁
Marcia – this thrift store is amazing – so huge you could literally spend HOURS in there an not see it all. Blue tags were .99 cents so that’s all I was looking for – my Mom was jealous too!
That burger looks delicious! I am making a pulled pork sandwich tonight. Usually pulled pork takes hours to prepare but my grocery store sells prepared pulled pork, all you have to do is put it in the oven for 30 minutes. Making a cole/carrot salad to go with it.
Oh please, please ask Hannah not to paint Rummy’s toes 🙂 It’s a dog!
That sounds good! I am actually doing a pork roast in the crock pot to make pulled pork – it will take about 10 hours though! Ha, I will tell Hannah – she even buys baby clothes for the dog at the thrift store! 😛
Your burger looks amazing love me some beef! I like your
workout top it is super cute! Your strength training program
looks really good too I bet you get great results too.
Do you take your measurements monthly? I try to.
Have a great day!
Actually this time I didn’t take any measurements – I just want to get to a healthy weight that doesn’t show me as obese on a BMI calculator! 😀
