Jacky sent me a link yesterday on Facebook yesterday morning. I hadn’t even gone on Facebook yet when my sister called me to tell me that I made the list for the Top 100 Most Influential Weight Loss Blogs.
There’s only one slight problem with that list. Um, I haven’t lost any weight in 5 years. Yes I’ve dropped a few pounds here and there, but in September 2008 I was 168 pounds and today I am 169 pounds. WTF?
These lists are just giant advertisements in my opinion. They want you to take their widget and place it on your blog. I don’t even know many of the blogs mentioned on the list except for Diane, Shelley and Brooke, who all most deservedly need and deserve the recognition.
And looking through the list there were glaring errors, names of bloggers wrong, even the name of some of the blogs are wrong. I don’t even know how they got this list, but some of these people lost their way through weight loss surgery, some lost the weight only to today be back where they started.
This is what it said about me:
When you open up “My Bizzy Kitchen” and start to read, you will laugh. Not just chuckle a little, but actually laugh out loud. Elizabeth’s writing clearly reflects the positive stance she takes on life. In fact, it’s almost as if she was never diagnosed with Type II Diabetes and never had to overcome weight issues. But she does, and her blog proves it. With a pension for silliness tapered with some very emotional posts about her day-to-day struggles, her life and more, you will find yourself returning to Elizabeth’s blog again and again.
First of all, I never go by Elizabeth. Ever. I’ve always gone by Beth, except for my crazy grandma who called me Liza for a while, which turned into Beth+Liz=Biz. What do you think about lists like these?? Just curious.
Yesterday was another busy day at work – a quick egg white spinach sammie with frozen fruit on the side. Well, it was 1/2 way thawed. While Tony loves to eat frozen fruit out of the bag, I need it to thaw a bit.
I ended up running errands for my boss at lunch, so no work out yesterday. When I was trying to figure out what to make for our lunches with what I had on hand, I decided to throw all the ingredients I needed to make sausage and sauerkraut soup and figured I’d just throw everything in the crockpot at work and let it do the work for me.
Sausage and Sauerkraut Soup
- makes 6 servings, about 1.5 cups each: 276 caloires, 11 fat, 39 carbs, 5.4 fiber and 12 protein (eek, 1540 sodium)
Ingredients:
- 8 ounces Polish sausage, sliced
- 8 cups low sodium beef broth
- 2 cups jarred sauerkraut
- 2 large carrots, peeled and chopped
- 4 stalks celery, chopped
- 3 medium potatoes, peeled and chopped
- 1 can red kidney beans, drained
- 1 teaspoon caraway seeds
- salt and pepper to taste (to me it only needed pepper)
- 1 tablespoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
Throw everything into a crock pot and cook on high for 3-4 hours. I sent this picture to Tony around 11:00 and his reaction was “ick.”
This was delicious and got rave reviews. The smoked sausage flavors the broth. While this would be considered a hearty winter dish, it felt like a light summer soup!
The picture I took at the office was quick and sucked ass, so I brought home the leftovers and took another picture so it would at least tempt you to make it.
When I got in the car to go home, check out the temp!
I thought for sure once I drove for a few minutes the temp would dramatically drop, but it only dropped down to 91 degrees – crazy!
So in “operation use what I have in the house no grocery shop before vacation” I defrosted a small package of ground beef and ground lamb. I asked Tony if he wanted Salisbury steak, burgers, or taquitos. He said he didn’t care. Of course taquitos won!
These three taquitos aren’t that bad for you. Yes, they are deep fried but I take that into consideration when figuring out the points:
- 3 corn tortillas (3 pts.)
- 3 ounces beef (3 pts.)
- 3 tablespoons fat free refried beans (1 pt.)
- 3/4 ounce cheddar cheese (2 pts.)
- 1 tsp. oil for frying (1 pt.)
- chopped baby spinach and jalapeno (0 pt.)
- 3 tablespoon salsa (0 pt.)
Yum and yum. I’ve said it before and I will say it again, I could eat Mexican food every night of the week and never get sick of it. This is a super quick dinner too, even quicker if you cook the ground beef/lamb the night before.
Alright, I have exactly 20 minutes to get ready for work – I kinda slept in this morning!
Make it a great day!
This blog is an inspiring weight lose blog and to lose weight we can use the raspberry ketone for the good health and lose the weight..
I think So Good Written
From the author: Hi Beth. I am the author of this list and I actually ran across this blog post today. I apologize about getting your name wrong (I adjusted it). I didn’t realize you only went by Beth. I did want to say that I really enjoyed your blog, which is why we chose it to be on our list. Our intention here was to point out and award influencers in the weight loss community who approach healthy living in the same way we do: with common-sense and in moderation. Our goal is to be an ally with the weight loss community. Thanks for the post and feedback, and also for your hilarious blog, which motivates many people to lose weight every day.
Thanks for sharing this information about weight loss.
I am so glad to find your awesome post. Thanks for sharing.
Congratulations for this success. I hope you will stay in the top 100 weight loss blogs as long as possible. By the way you have very good site design. I like it a lot!
Uhhh thank you for these most popular weight loss blogs! I was just looking for those..
What exactly is the criteria for making it in this top 100 list? What does one have to do to be in the top? Thanks for the list. I would not have found out about some of these blogs without the list.
Well clearly they don’t compile these lists according to actual weight loss. Never the less, you do deserve to be on the top 100 purely for the content you offer…always a great read, thanks. Now time for that soup 🙂
i am so glad that you spent so much tym coming up with this list, thank you so much
Wow thanks for the top most influential weight loss blogs list…
Weight loss, within the context of drugs, health or good condition, may be a reduction of the whole body mass, attributable to a mean loss of fluid, body fat or fat and/or lean mass, specifically bone mineral deposits, muscle, sinew and alternative animal tissue. It will occur accidentally attributable to associate underlying unwellness or will arise from a acutely aware effort to enhance associate actual or perceived overweight or corpulent state.
What a great list, thank you so much!
Thank you for spending time to come up with this list! I will so gonna try to check all of the blogs included on this list! It is always inspiring when people try to share their knowledge to others. I really love those taquitos! Three won’t hurt. Cheers!
You can still be an influential weight loss blog without having lost weight yourself – simply by being real and yourself, and always cheering on others, and providing recipes with points…I could go on. Sometimes it’s not the results that are the most influential, but the journey with it’s ups and downs.
Also I want to make that soup.
Well Elizabeth 🙂 it is always nice that someones blog is on a list of some ranking but they have to put in the right information. Otherwise it’s more a joke than a serious list. Nevertheless I do believe you should be on the list.
I have been reading your blog for years now. I am in my 20s and my goal has never been weight loss but yes, I would classify your blog as weight loss because of you showing the scale and telling us your weight. I think that may separate it from a healthy living blog.
I appreciate that Nikki – thanks for coming out of the woodwork to say hello! 😀
Just because you haven’t lost weight doesn’t mean you aren’t a positive influence!! This is awesome!! And it’s true, you’re hilarious, and quite an inspiration.
Thanks Gina! 😀
Elizabeth, i do declare, I’m just now getting to know ya! I think it is great that you made the list. Think of how many people you might be able to touch in your own special way. And if you benefit what does it matter if they do, too? i say more power to you and I’m happy for you-BIZ!
Thanks Abbe!
I never pay attention to those lists, so not sure how effective they are 🙂 As for Tony eating frozen fruit out of the bag, what a great idea for my pups when it is 110 degrees outside. They love fruit and they love ice cubes, perfect for summer. I never thought of that.
Sam’s Club sells a giant bag (6 pounds I think?) for $10 bucks. I usually defrost it some on the counter, I can’t eat it straight out of the bag like Tony does. 😀
Congrats on being included on the list! I kinda agree though. Funny, cause I got an email that I was included on a top 20 food blogs in Colorado list — I was #20.. ummm gee thanks? I thought it was kinda weird too. Must be the season or something. lol! Of course I love sauerkraut — I made some the other day that was spicy kraut, so I know you would like it! 🙂
Yep, you knows I can handle the spice!
Yeah I agree with your thoughts on the list! There are some good ones on there and there are many iffy ones.
What can be better than sausage and sauerkraut soup 🙂
I saw the list and those errors too because I knew/read quite a few of those blogs…but you do deserve recognition Biz! Even if you haven’t lost any weight, you are still working on it, correct! That’s some serious effort right there!!! We love you!
I am loving all the pictures you are taking of the Redwood Forest – so beautiful – thanks Mel!!
I don’t know how I feel about the list, but I love your blog!! 🙂
That soup looks soooo good and so does dinner. Mexican food is my weakness.
Thanks Sam! 😀
I didn’t think of the lists that way! I got all excited that I knew a celeb blogger when I saw it 😉 I think you’re not giving yourself enough credit…you deserve the recognition! Even if it was intended to get bloggers to put the badge on their site, someone still went through and selected 100 blogs that were worthy of mention, you know?
I did wonder about the Elizabeth thing and was worried I had been calling you the wrong name all this time! 😉
Thanks for always being a great cheerleader Lara – I am loving the videos of Baby G and the dog – so fricken cute!!
Well the list sounds like a gimmick but for what it’s worth, congrats on making it. And despite messing up your name, I really like what they said about your blog! And your soup?! I’m so making that.
I knew you would love the soup V!!
I like Biz and Bizmoto!! It seems weird even seeing Elizabeth in connection with you, since like you said, you never go by it. I think your blog is great too but, too bad they didn’t have someone writing those that actually knows you! I can eat mexican food all the time too, I love it!
How could I forget Bizmoto??!!
I’m laughing at how casual you are about being on the list – I think it’s great! good for you! You obviously work very hard at this blog. 🙂
And hey, I’m with you on mexican food – although, I’m NOT with you on onions 😉
That’s the funny thing is that I don’t work all that hard on the blog – I don’t know how to use social media all that well, although I am getting addicted to Pinterest! My detox water has been pinned 100+ times a day since I posted it, and it wasn’t even my idea! 😀
Thanks Courtney!
I’m on a similar list somewhere. I agree, it feels like an ad. And looking through this list I see a lot of people that aren’t really blogging anymore on that list!
I don’t really consider my blog a weight loss blog but I suppose it is. I’ve kept my weight off for 5 years now and I don’t lose weight anymore. So is it REALLY a weight loss blog?
I definitely think its a weight loss blog, but you are the QUEEN OF MAINTENANCE!
Well Biz, (alias Beth, Elizabeth, Liz and whatever other names you have)…Better to be on a weight loss list then the “FBI’s most wanted list” lol!!! Even though you have not lost any weight for 5 years, just the fact that you have “maintained” is fantastic!!!
Was looking at some of those blogs……interesting….just shows that losing weight “can be done”
Your food looks good today, you are very inspirational, and a good cheer-leader too!!
Glad we are in Wisconsin….it was in the 70’s!! 90’s are TOOOOO hot!! You can keep the 90’s.
This is for Tony……..Go Packers Go!!!
Have a good day!!
I am sure Tony didn’t see your comment, otherwise he would have said something about the Packers crack! 😀
Other than them calling you “Elizabeth” I thought it was very well written!
Weird. That’s too bad that the list wasn’t more reputable . . . because I think your blog is definitely award-worthy!! 😉 But they had one thing right. You do have a way of making me laugh out loud–and I love that!
Thanks Michelle! 😀
Beth, Biz, Elizabeth….all you, but you’ll always be “Vat” to me!!!
I think you are well deserving to be on the list. (and hey, I’m there too. Who knew?)
Have a great day!!!
Glad you saw your link too! And I love it that you call me Vat! 😀
Hey congratulations Biz! I think you have a great blog. Your posts make me smile. Those lists are interesting especially because that Carrots n Cake lady seems to pop up everywhere. I’m surprised the oatmeal lady didn’t make it. I think she lost 26 pounds at some point.
I could totally eat Mexican food every single day. I die when I think of how picky I still was when I lived in Mexico. I want to go back now just to eat.
Haha “the oatmeal lady”, that just made me laugh out loud 🙂
I love the reference to 26 pounds! Ha!!
Hey…congrats! at the very least, they will draw traffic to your blog! 🙂 But you do have a great blog..so just savor the moment, I say!! 🙂
Thanks Renee – good luck getting your daughter to her internship! 😀
I’ve been in Seattle for a week, so I have to catch up on your blog, but the soup looks fantastic and of course, so do the tacos.
Well Elizabeth, I got a chuckle out of that list…apparently I am middle-aged and was fixin’ to die by 65. Too funny!
When I read that list yesterday, I wanted to know who the hell Elizabeth was! Also, can you help me get a pension for silliness? Like, you are earning money for retirement by being silly?! Or do you have a PENCHANT for silliness instead? I’m confused. 🙂
That soup looks delicious; I am the only person in my house who eats kraut (unless MAK’s grandma is around; then he’ll eat it just to appease her) so I’m usually solo on all dishes like this.
I think the lists are BS, but I do agree you have a great blog 😀
Thanks Maggie – I think we’ve “known” each other since 2008 – crazy!
Cutting through the BS, that is what makes you awesome. Weight loss or not, you are definitely a great motivator and cheerleader for other people. Keep on keepin’ it real! Those taquitos look amazeballs.
Thanks for the kudos Jacky – its just because you love the word “amazeballs!” Glad you had a great weekend with your oldest for Momma Day!
I found something similar when searching Google for WW blogs. Lots of misinformation and blogs that hadn’t been updated in years. I love blogs and when I started reading yours (back in 08!) I loved it from the start. Wtf is with Elizabeth? Obviously if they read even a few posts they’d realize you’re a Biz!!!
The taquitos look so awesome and thanks for referencing the points! You rock! Have a good one…storms here once again…Blech!
Thanks for being such a loyal reader Mary! 😀
Yah- some of those lists are such BS. I got put on one once. They have to be doing it for hits and advertising money. Regardless- I do think you’re hilarious Elizabeth :). I like frozen fruit straight from the bag like Tony!
Thanks Erica! 😀
