When I was hanging out with my Mom yesterday, she said “I read your blog that you are quitting WW.”  She interpreted that to mean that I was giving up losing these 30 pounds I am hanging on to.

Quite the opposite, I knew WW wasn’t working for me this time around for whatever reason.  While I suppose I can consider myself a success in maintaining 165 for almost four years with Tony’s cancer and subsequent health problems, my brother being diagnosed with cancer, etc., it’s still not where I want to be.

While I don’t talk about it too often, I am an emotional eater and am pretty confident I’ve always been.  Turns out that in high school and college when I was on athletic teams, working out 2-3 hours a day I literally could eat whatever I wanted and never got above 120 pounds.

Until I got a desk job, and before I knew it I was 210 pounds.  Well, it was gradual, it was almost like I didn’t see it happening, even though I had to keep buying bigger clothes!

So I started to think to myself . . . what would motivate me? What would have me wake up each day with the motivation and inspiration to move more and eat less.  It didn’t dawn on me until I saw this video on my brothers Facebook page and on another bloggers page.

So how am I going to use this motivation to my advantage?  I am going to channel other peoples inspirational videos to motivate me – today for example, I will keep this guy Arthur in my thoughts to help me make the right decisions for that day when I want to reach for the potato chips or not get to the gym.  I am hoping that the visualization will help me reach my goals.

So each day, at the end of my regular posts, I’ll have a new inspirational video of the day.  Maybe you’ll watch one that will inspire you?  I am also changing my WI days to Monday.  I think having it on Saturday’s gave me the excuse to eat whatever on Saturday and Sunday’s “because I have the whole week to work it off.”  Nope, that’s not gonna work either.  So I stepped on the scale this past Saturday on the Zero Scale, and next Monday I’ll post my first WI on this plan.

Who knows – it just might work! Open-mouthed smile

I had a wonderful Mother’s Day.  I spent the day with my Mom and Hannah – she just bought a Wii Fit and we did that about an hour – so fun!  (although it did say I was obese with a BMI of 30.55 and my “Wii Age” was 53!)  My Mom’s Wii Age??  55!)

Then me and my Mom taking a goofy picture.

I made a delicious zucchini and ricotta quiche – I haven’t figured out the calories yet, but this was delicious!

We had a side salad too – perfect Sunday lunch. Open-mouthed smile

And then Tony made a delicious dinner.  We saw an episode on Food Network called “The spiciest thing I ever made.”  Melissa D’Arabian made a spicy mussels with chorizo wine sauce.  As soon as I saw that I knew we’d have to make it – so Tony did his magic.  OMG, you guys this was amazing.  Tony knows when he’s hit a homerun when I keep eating and don’t say anything!

The spice level was perfect – which is amazing since Tony usually can’t taste the food he’s making for me because he can’t handle the heat. He did add a touch more cayenne pepper and left out the cream at the end.  And the best part is that there is a lot of broth left so I am going to try to morph that into a soup later this week.

The main dish was shrimp risotto, again cooked perfectly, although I only ate about a half a cup because I was so full – again, this will probably morph into a stir fry or soup later this week too.

momma day 023

Alright, I am off to do my 30 minute stretch before work.  I thank Arthur for being my inspiration for the day!  Make it a great day!
