Thanks for all your comments yesterday – so the general consensus is – TOO MUCH SODIUM! I guess I never realized how much sodium was in my food on Friday – and the day before WI! Note to self: don’t have Chinese food before a weigh in!
Not gonna lie, I did feel like crying – I had such a great week, but then when I was watching the news yesterday, and saw that 31 U.S. Troops were killed, including the some of the elite Navy seals, it was a smack in the face. The thought that I was upset about a gain on the scale when there are so many worse things going on in the world, I quickly moved on and looked at the big picture – I am running faster than I ever have, I can hold a plank for 2 minutes, I upped my weights to 4 pound weights from 2 pounds weights – and most importantly, my size 12’s are still loose. 😀
How was your week? Struggling, succeeding, need some cheerleaders??
We had a great time with Joe and Lizz yesterday – I made a super simple meal, brats, hot dogs, Italian sausage, pasta salad, fruit salad and chips.
I also made snickerdoodle ice cream sandwiches – they don’t look pretty, but everyone said they tasted good. I used this recipe for the cookies, and just put Edy’s vanilla bean icecream in the middle.
Spending time with family . . . priceless!
After storms rolled through this morning, its now sunny skies and 70 degrees – love having my windows open!
I am in the process of making six homemade frozen pizzas for my friend who is having surgery next week – come back tomorrow for step-by-step instructions. 😀
Enjoy your Sunday!
The hot dogs and the ice cream cookie sandwiches look excellent!
As important as weight loss is to many of us it really is so tiny a problem to have when you look at the big picture. It’s good to keep things in perspective.
So glad you enjoyed time with the family and put the small gain out of your mind. I didn’t make much progress in pounds but had a little NSV last week (RUNNING 🙂 *gasp*).
My 101 Days of Summer Challenge update is at http://finallyfiguringitout.blogspot.com/2011/08/slimmer-this-summer-and-101-days-of.html
Stay cool and have a great week Biz!
It is SO important to look at all the other measurements and milestones! I can’t imagine holding the plank for 2 minutes- you rock!
Hi everyone! I had a good week fitness wise:
-I ran 12.75 miles
-I did yoga three times
-I strength trained 3 times.
I have to say though, my eating has not been exactly where I want it to be – not awful (not by any means), but lately I’ve been snacking a lot in the evenings. I’m going to try food journal again and measuring my portions, so I can get back to feeling awesome inside instead of feeling like I overate, etc 🙂
What a fun family weekend! You are all so darling!
The snickerdoodle ice cream sandwiches just look amazing!
Ok. Can I just say how genius you are for frozen home made pizzas?? Seriously– the thought never crossed my mind. DUH CHRISTINA.
I’ve been juicing for 4 or 5 days now. I’m replacing 1 or 2 meals a day with juicing. Mostly vegetables w/ one fruit to sweeten it up so I’m not getting too much sugars. I haven’t stepped on the scale yet, so I don’t know how it’s going. It fills me up and I’m hoping it will kick start a much healthier lifestyle.
You are so right about putting things in perspective. I lost 2.2 so did that was a shock for me. I still rode my bike every day, but didn’t eat 100% great so I was thankful about that and its the lowest I’ve weighed all year, so I’ll take it.
Love the picture of the brats! Glad you guys had fun!
I had a good week. I rocked my 8 mile run, finally! I started my aquacize class, and even though it is mainly old people it was good. I haven’t had any processed sugars, and I am losing some weight that I had gained over the past few stress-filled, sugar-filled weeks. Overall I feel good! Half-marathon is 4 weeks away, and I am ready for it to get here already! I am feeling nervous about my 9 mile run coming up on Tuesday, but I will just tackle it when it gets here and do the best I can.
I begin my detox diet tomorrow…today I had pasta, bread, a cupcake and frozen yogurt. I am really taking the detox thing seriously apparently. 😉
Um….you can hold a plank for 2 minutes? You. Are. A. Rockstar. SERIOUSLY!!!!!
I just learned that’s called “Last Supper” eating!
Yawn. I’ve nursed my sprained ankle and done rehab exercises twice a day. My ankle is much better already and I’m returning to my normal exercise routine. Thank god! My brain is turning into mush.
Yup, sodium can be insidious.
I need a support group when I come to your site and see all the pics of delicious dishes! 🙂
Back from our 17 days on vacation. I won’t be facing the scale until tomorrow. 🙂 Trying to catch up on my feed reading.
Great attitude! That is definitely the approach you have to take because sometimes your actions don’t directly translate into the scale and you just have to know that eventually it will pay off!
I had a good week for exercise, and ended up going over my goal. Eating wasn’t as healthy…a big wedding over the weekend, which was a blast but I may have eaten way too much! 😀
You are doing great, Biz! Keep your head up and rejoice in all of those things that are going right!
I love meals just like this…simple, but super tasty!
Can’t wait to see those pizzas!
I think you’re doing fantastic! Just keep pushing. How sweet of you to make the pizzas for your friend- I know she will appreciate them! And fantastic summer time meal- especially the fresh fruit (can’t get enough!)
Yay for family! I get how you want to cry with the scale, but think about in 6 months, will you remember what the weigh in was unless you actually look it up? That’s how it doesn’t matter. As long as the overall trend is down, the week to week fluctuations are nothing.
I’m with you, I was having a bad day and feeling bad for myself and then saw the 31 lost and knew my problems were nothing. All 31 families will be arriving at our base, so we’re baking for them and it really puts things into perspective.
Glad to hear that you had such a great day with your family 🙂
