I follow a lot of people on Instagram. I love the social interaction, and you do truly form friendships on there believe it or not.
Marlena is one woman I follow (20 years younger than me) but she makes me laugh – she always starts her stories pouring a proffee (protein coffee) and saying “what’s up bitches.”
But as with life, sometimes I don’t catch up with as many people as I would like, and by chance I thought, “I haven’t stopped by to see what Marlena is up to for a while.”
So by chance, last Saturday I was watching her stories, and she’s SO CLOSE to goal – like already lost 55 pounds and within 7 pounds to go which seems so close and far away at the same time.
She’s been on a plateau even though she’s killing it in the food and workout game, and she made an offhand comment that basically said the last time she was on a plateau she did 500 flights of stairs in 7 days. She then said “none of you bitches would want to do that with me, would you?”
I immediately said “I WILL!”
Mind you, I had only been to the gym once since May 23. (but who’s counting!). But I knew I had to commit to someone other than myself because I can always talk myself out of doing something, but when another person is counting on me, I will always, always step up to the plate.
So I began my first 100 flights last Saturday, with no idea how long it would take me to even do that – 15 minutes, an hour? Turns out 37:22 is how long it took me the first time. Then I did it in 37:16, then 33:13, then 36:30 (I didn’t get to the gym until 9:30 that night, so I was a bit tired!), so last night I had to PR since it was my last 100 flights. Less than 33:13 was my goal.
I did it! I was so close to getting under 30 minutes – so that will be my next goal.
When I was done I did the ropes for 4 minutes, then 10 minutes of abs and 5 minutes of stretching to finish my hour working.
Pretty sure I have abs of steel now! I look pretty “fit-ish” in that pic!
Ha! Camera angles are everything.
The point of those two pictures though, is to tell you that what you see on social media isn’t always what is reality. I can take a picture of myself that instantly makes me look 20 pounds lighter – angle the photo in a mirror that’s tilted a bit – just do you – don’t compare yourself with others.
I made the best quick dinner last night. It doesn’t really even need a recipe card because it was literally just leftovers thrown into a Tumaro wrap – I forgot to take a picture of it, but these are all one point each. I used the basic white though for this crunch wrap – well, without the inside crunch.
- 1 Tumaro wrap
- 2 ounces cooked lean beef
- 1/3 cup black beans, canned, drained
- 1 tablespoon Frontera Grill chipotle salsa (use any salsa you like)
- 1/2 ounce low fat cheddar
- 1/4 cup chopped romaine
- Mix all together and stuff into the wrap. Fold into a burrito. Heat skillet over medium heat with avocado spray, cook seam side down for 2 minutes, flip and cook an additional 2 minutes.
- THAT’S IT!
It was delicious. There was a bit of crunch in the wrap because it was pan “fried” but still chewy which is what I love about those wraps, and if you can find that Frontera Grill Chipotle salsa, buy it – it’s so fucking good!
Happy Friday! I have a busy weekend. Three recipes to put together, doing another YouTube video (you’re welcome!) (if you missed the last one, here is the link). I have a cheese event on Sunday at Pacific Standard Club on Sunday and I’ll be staying at my beloved Hotel Monaco on Sunday. #love
Make it a great day – check on Instagram to see how I did on my first week back after I hit the reset button. Hugs! And don’t eat like an asshole.
