Knowing we would be going out for Hannah’s birthday, I wanted to keep my breakfast and lunch on the lower side. I made these pumpkin pancakes over the weekend, and while I loved them the day I made them, yesterday I could really taste the baking powder – going to have to go back to the drawing board on these. I still ate them though – ha! 4 points for breakfast.
I was solo for lunch – Jenn had a work engagement, so I was on my own. I went across the street from my office to pick up something for lunch. I went to a place called New Orleans Kitchen, but when I got up close it was basically Chinese food – huh. That was their bourbon chicken – she gave me a piece and even though it was thigh meat and would cost me a point an ounce, it was delicious! I got that with steamed broccoli and no rice.
When I got back to my office the chicken in my bowl had so much gristle and fatty pieces – I only ate about 1/4 of the chicken but all of the broccoli. Because the sauce was a bit sweet (even though most of it was in the bottom of the container) I gave myself enough insulin to cover it. But then I didn’t eat all of it. So the insulin kept working and my blood sugar was 62. Dangit.
Luckily my friend Lauren gave me and my sister some Bilt Bars and I had one – it was delicious! The inside reminded me of the inside filling of a milky way bar. That did the trick, and I ate an apple on the train ride home.
I am also getting my eyebrows done this weekend – you’re welcome. 😀
We went to a Japanese restaurant. I thought for sure she would pick the hibatchi side – where they cook the food in front of you, but she thought it would be easier to talk if we sat at a table. She even got a drink! It was so sweet – pineapple mango something – it’s about the only drink she’ll have all year. 😀
Cheers!
That was called a firey tuna – it was kind of like a jalapeno popper, but with raw ahi tuna and spicy mayo on top – so good!
We also go the shrimp shumai – little shrimp dumplings in a light sauce and more spicy mayo. Pretty sure the spicy mayo has no points, right?!

My plate: filet mignon with garlic shrimp. So much food! I ate barely half of this and had to ask for a to go container. And you’ll be happy to know I picked out all the big chunks of onion.
Oh, but wait. Hold up. You have green mint chip ice cream for dessert that comes with our meal? Okay, I can make room for that. 😛
I am still doing the 100 days of honest tracking, and with a meal like that, you sometimes have to guess at the points. I tend to go higher than I think, but then maybe I am underestimating – so while this isn’t exact, it’s pretty close. So I kind of ate like an asshole last night, but your daughters birthday only comes around once a year, right?!
So let’s just say I am not looking for a loss on the scale this week. In fact, because I went out so much this week, my goal was to maintain, so we shall see!
I may be doing a last chance workout out tonight at the gym.
Tomorrow I am going to a free Orange Theory class after WW. It’s perfect because Meijer grocery store is near there and I need to buy some Certified Angus Beef to hopefully grill out on Sunday – it will be near 40 degrees! I’ll probably be grilling in a tank top and flip flops.
Happy Friday friends – make it a great day! And don’t eat like an asshole.
Love, Biz
Hope you share the pumpkin pancake recipe. I love anything pumpkin! I have been tracking the last few weeks to see if I can finally start losing weight. So far it been real SLOW! But seeing you kill it encourages me to keep going. I hate calorie counting but if it helps, I just have to suck it up. Happy Birthday to Hannah. Glad you enjoyed the time with her rather than fretting over stupid calories or points.
I am tweaking the recipe. They tasted good the day I made them, but I think I added too much baking powder, because reheated the next couple of days, it was overpowered with the taste of baking powder 🙁
Looks like you guys had a great celebration. Love those tiny shrimp dumplings. I may have to try and make a tiny dumpling.
