We are still experiencing unseasonably warm weather, so much so that we’ve had to turn the air back on. WTF? It was a warm 68 degrees at the train station yesterday morning.
I got to work and it immediately got busy. So much so, I didn’t fix my breakfast picky plate until nearly 11! Weight Watchers sent me a boat load of their new cheeses that will be available in stores soon. This jalapeno cheese stick is amazeballs – so spicy and only one point.
It was a rainy day yeseterday so my sister and I walked Macy’s again. As I was waiting for my sister I wandered the purse department and thought of my blog friend Fran when I saw this purse – I would have gotten it for her, but it was $350 bucks!
I once again walked off and left my packaged soup in the fridge at home. I picked up this sandwich, grapes and carrots in Macy’s food court – I had Bolthouse Farms avocado dressing for dipping.
And the work continued until it was time to get the hockey puck out of there to meet my Mom, my cousin Susanna and her husband Frank for dinner. Shelley, this snapchat filter isn’t too scary for you 😀
The Bergoff is a Chicago institution. It was opened in 1893 and was run by family until 2005 when the sons of the original owner decided to retire and close the business after 107 years. It was closed for six months, and the great grand daughter opened the downstairs cafe, and within a year, the restaurant resumed as it always had.
We were meeting at 6, but since I only work six blocks away, I got there early and enjoyed a Golden Monkey beer made by Victory Brewery.
And why not have another beer with dinner? This time it was Berghoff’s Hefe-Weisen.
My cousin got the deconstructed Chicken Cordon Bleu.
My Mom couldn’t decide between the halibut and pork shank, but the pork shank won 😀 It was served over staetzel with grilled asparagus.
Frank and I both got the “pork trio” plate that was on the Oktoberfest menu. Pork chop, two kinds of sausages, new potatoes and LOTS of sauerkraut. I love, love, love sauerkraut, and turns out I like pork and sausage too so I was a happy camper. And that mustard? So good! I used everything in that container.
They are in town another day today, then are heading up to Seattle, then down the California coast, then to New Orleans then back home – what an epic trip!! #jealous
I woke up this morning though feeling way out of shape, bloated (probably about 6000 mg of sodium in dinner alone!) and need to turn my ship around and get back on track. With work being so busy, Hannah’s shower and wedding coming up, I’ve kind of lost the reigns a bit and need to get a grip.
That being said, I had a wonderful night last night – always happy to spend time with East Coast family in Chicago. Jenn, you missed a fun night out 😀
Happy Wednesday – make it a great day!
It all looks so good! The purse is really cute but I am too rough with my purses to spend that kind of money on them. I am not a beer person but every time you post a photo of one I hear myself saying ahh, like I just took a drink and it was ice cold. I’m not crazy 🙂
That purse is so cute, but wait for it to go on sale!
Fran should totally get that purse!
That purse is ADORABLE!! but yea….spendy!
Yeah, beer alone will cause that bloat! The bubbles and the sodium. Luckily, drink a bunch of water and the bloat goes away!
It’s hard to get back on track sometimes. I either have to buckle down and do NO eating out -OR-, I have to come out with “rules” for eating out that keep me on track.
It depends on where I am in my life at the time. Right now my schedule is so busy, and eating out with kids sucks, so it’s “almost never eating out” plus I gave up wheat. So no beer, pizza, burgers, sandwiches…
In the past, it’s been more of a choose your poison. I could have *one treat*. Either a single alcoholic drink OR tortilla chips OR fries… only one.
Then of course I do NOvember every year (no wine, wheat, fried food, sugar). I’ll probably skip that this year since I’m already at no wheat. And that seems have shaved 8 pounds off of me that I thought were here for good. Seriously never thought I’d see <133 lbs ever again.
