You guys, I am am falling more in love with this puppy every day. He went to the vet yesterday for his first check up – he has a bit of a yeast infection in his ears, which I guess is common for dogs with ears that stick up. So the kids had to put drops in his ears last night – he looked so pitiful! All I like to do with him is snuggle with him.
And when I got home from work last night, Hannah was emptying the dish washer with Roman in a Baby Bjorn!
Breakfast was an English muffin breakfast panini – although I forgot to put any cheese on it. I know, I can hardly believe it myself!
I got to the gym again at lunch and did another 2 mile run, and it felt really good!
I got this cute top at Goodwill – it was in the .99 cent bin!
Lunch was more leftover rotisserie chicken from Walmart that I made into tostadas. The salsa on top is the dried guajillo pepper salsa from Bon Appetit magazine. So smoky and spicy!
I had pizza dough in the fridge so it was Party Pizza Wednesday. I sometimes just make my no rise dough (2 cups flour, 1 teaspoon yeast, 1 teaspoon salt and 1 cup of water) and throw it in a ziploc bag to have later in the week. I think the longer it sits in the fridge the better the dough tastes. Hannah made a stuffed crust pizza with string cheese in the crust. And added onions. Of course.
I ended up making a sausage, pepperoni and fresh giardiniera pizza – I got the giardiniera off the olive bar at Heinen’s grocery store – so spicy good.
I can’t remember if I told you guys or not, but two of the light fixtures that my friend gave me – one in the living room and one for my bedroom – well when I had an electrician install them, um, turns out neither light fixture went to a light switch. Both the fixtures before were fans with lights in them that Tony installed, and were controlled by remote control. So the electrician came back yesterday to bring my electric up to code and installed dimmer switches in the living room and my bedroom. Guess what the electricians name was??! TONY! He did an excellent job, and even upgraded what I asked for because he said I’d been through so much. He was actually here the day the floor was being installed so the place looked like a huge mess. When he walked in yesterday morning he literally said “Holy fuck” apologized for cursing, but said “if you weren’t standing here, I wouldn’t believe I was in the same house!”
So the other Tony – the window guy? I asked for an estimate to replace three windows in my living room and one window in each bedroom. I got the estimate last night: $4,950. Um, no way. They may be Pella windows, but unless these windows can pour me a glass of wine, I am going to get another estimate. I really only need to change the two bedroom windows before winter, so I may opt to just do those and call it a day. Am I right that it seems like nearly $1000 a window is a lot of money for windows??!!
I will leave you with Roman’s Halloween costume – Eeyore!
I have my Cooking Club tonight at Courtney’s house. It’s a fall menu and I was asked to bring an appetizer. As soon as I saw Jessica’s cheese soup in mini pretzel bread bowls, I knew that’s what I was going to make. I did a dry run last weekend to make sure it would turn out. And the answer to that is a resounding yes. I am borrowing tiny spoons from Hannah’s work, although you could just sip the soup out of the pretzel bowl before eating it. How cute are these??!!
Glad it’s Thursday already – bring on the weekend! Make it a great day!
Too much cuteness in one post. I had to go print out the soup bowl recipe and I’m going to tackle it this weekend. I’m quite sure I will love it but my not so soup loving family will have to be won over.
How can they pass up such cute food?!! If you wanted to make bigger bread bowls, I would do between 2.5 and 3 ounces of dough before boiling. After they cooled it was pretty easy to cut the top off and hollow out some of the bread.
Let me know how it turns out Kym! 😀
Sadly enough with temps this weekend in the 90’s the bowls had to wait. Here’s hoping for some cooler weather next weekend.
Roman sure is adorable, he’s so cute! But don’t forget to hug Rummy too otherwise he gets jealous and he’s adorable too.
Read on Instagram that you cooking club was a success, cool!
Yes, I’ve been making sure that I give Rummy equal petting time – she’s the diva!
That puppy is so adorable!
We went with Window World when we had 18 windows put in our old house and they were custom because it was an old house. They were great and really affordable. The problem with going with Lowe’s or Home Depot for installation of things like that is that they will hire a contractor to do the work and then they just tack their own fee on top of that for the estimate. So if you went direct to the window contractor – you will save a lot of money. Things to not do through Lowe’s or HD would be roofing, windows, siding.
Thanks for the info Lori – going to check out if there is a Window World near me 😀
He is so dang CUTE!!!
OMG….I’m a little in love with your puppy too!!!!!!!
Thanks Roz – he’s just so cute to hold and his tummy doesn’t have any hair on it 😀
just lovin’ the baby roman pics!! Cracked up with the eeyore costume! That’s what we call Toulouse now…Eeeyoorrrrreeee. She’s just like Eeyore! LOLLL That baby soup thing in a bowl looks perfectly delicious! and cute. what’s better than cute food? only puppies. That is all that’s cuter than cute food. =)
I agree, cute puppies trump cute food!
omg, that puppy is adorable. Are there any rebates available for the windows? Also, did you check home depot? Do you know anyone in the military? They get an extra 10% off at Home Depot and Lowes. You also might look at the Habitat for Humanity resale store or online.
All great ideas – thanks Randi! I know if I get energy efficient windows I can deduct that on my taxes next year. 😀
He’s SO cute Biz!! Before you know it you’ll be a dog lover and looking for your own!
I won’t go that far Lauren – they are still a lot of work! It’s kind of like holding someone elses baby and then being able to hand it back when you are done.
GOOD LUCK THIS WEEKEND at your cooking contest!! Can’t wait to hear about it. 😀
$1000 per window is high if they are simple double hung, double paned windows. If they have special glass are triple paned, etc. maybe not.
You should go back to Home Depot and talk to them about your custom windows, they do that too.
They had some sort of glass that was energy efficient, but I don’t know if I actually need that. Even with our old roof and windows, our heating bill was never more than $100 a month even in the coldest months – and Tony had our heat set to 78! I know have my heat set at 66 😀
Love that puppy in the Baby Bjorn!! We had estimates of $2000 per window in our old house. Because of the age, they had to be six-over one and custom made. There were 27 windows. We opted to just keep with the old ones. Don’t know what the new owners will do though.
Best,
Bonnie
Holy balls that’s a lot of money!
I can vouch for dogs with ears like that. My frenchie has been a total pain in my ass with his ears, his whole life. You MUST stay on top of the cleaning. I use the Petco brand ear drops, and the key is to drop them in and then massive the base of their ears and sides of their face (the ear canals go so deep!)…the dog will then shake his head and it’ll loosen up any junk way down in the canals, to be swiped away with a cotton ball and/or q-tip.
We made the mistake of letting Crash’s ears go too long and he developed the WORSE staph infection that caused temporary FACIAL PARALYSIS. Live and learn. It was awful. I felt like the worse dog-mom ever. But we got through it with two weeks of antibiotics and new routine. Good luck!
Massage….not massive…geez!
Thanks for all the info Tia! I’ll let Hannah and Jacob know 😀
Bullets today!
~Snuggle Bug!
~Tony is looking out for you sending all these Tonys to your house. 🙂 (Maybe the estimate you received from the one was Tony’s way of saying – just wait on those…)
~You are always so thrifty! I rarely find anything, but the one pair of jeans that fit like a glove that I did find once are my fave pair.
~Love the flavor of guajillos!
~Roman Eeyore – a-dog-able!
~I need those cheese soup bread bowls – stat!
~Okay. Those are all of the exclamation points I can muster for the day.
I know – all the Tony’s makes me feel like I am making the right choice!
Windows: $1000/window is crazy. Do you have a Window World franchise near you? Might be more cost-effective. I also had good luck with Feldco, waiting for one of their two for one, or free installation, sales.
Will the mini pretzel cheese soup recipe be posted? Looks delish!!!
Here is the link to the recipe Lara – the only thing I changed was I used cashew milk for the milk in the soup (as opposed to heavy cream).

Everything is cute – Roman, pizza, the soup! Windows are expensive, but save money in the long run. I think you’re right to take care of that in stages. Have a nice day!
Yep, I agree, I think I’ll just worry about the bedroom windows this year and bite the bullet next year – although I do have another company coming in to give me a bid, we’ll see if that is more reasonable!
Roman is adorable!!! Love the pic of him in the Baby Bjorn!
Cute top! And what a deal!
I love the cheese soup in mini pretzel bowls – too cute! Have fun tonight!
It’s funny because I come home and I forget how tiny Roman is compared to Rummy!
When I first saw you put giardiniera on a pizza I thought it was really strange….but, Chris and I recently had one of the best pizzas we’ve ever eaten at the Moose’s Tooth in Anchorage, AK. It was a pepperoni pizza with a ton of chopped up pepperoncini on top. Man, was it incredibly delicious. Since then, I’ve been topping all my pizzas with pepperoncini. Now, I want to try the giardiniera too! The HOT kind!! Also, those pretzel soup bites look quite tasty.
I love the spiciness and brinyness (is that a word?!) of giardinera – so good! I cannot wait to try your husbands Pork Belly tacos – I may sub in pork shoulder for the belly though – not sure I can find a 4 pound pork belly at my grocery store, but we’ll see!
