It’s hard to believe that on April 14 I left work with snow on the ground, the air temperature was 23 degrees but with the wind chill it felt like 15 degrees.
Yesterday when I left for the gym? 89 degrees!
I am not complaining though – after the winter we’ve had I’ll take warm weather any day. I just miss the actually spring like temperatures. I love a crisp 45 or 50 degree summer morning before it warms up. Oh well! Mother Nature has her own agenda I guess.
I tried to make another caramel frappacino yesterday with my breakfast. It was 2 parts coffee, 1 part unsweetened almond milk, 1 packet of Truvia, 2 cups ice and 1 tablespoon of the caramel sauce – oh and whip cream on top. This was good – but not very sweet at all – more like an iced coffee than a caramel frap, but that didn’t stop me from drinking it all. I had more Pillsbury breakfast muffins – shocker! I have to admit, after having them again for breakfast this morning, I am a little done with these muffins for a while. I had a sliced banana on the side with schmears of peanut butter.
I am trying to build up my running stamina again. It’s amazing how quickly that goes when you don’t work out consistently like I have. I started out with a 5 minute walk and then told myself I couldn’t stop running until I got to two miles – so I ended up running 21 minutes without stopping – not bad!
Hannah got me that shirt for my birthday – its so soft I love it!
Lunch was the rest of my leftovers from Wok n Fire earlier in the week – there was only one piece of shrimp left and I sautéed a zucchini at home and added that to my leftovers. I couldn’t remember if I had many veggies left! I love, love this red curry sauce. I need to figure out how to make it at home.
When I got home from work, Tony was sitting outside, smoking a cigar and listening to a Doug Benson podcast. That show just makes him laugh! We hooked it up to our outdoor speaker and laughed while our chicken cooked. I love this candid picture I got of Tony!
We had giant bone in chicken breasts and while we easily could have split one between us, he didn’t want bbq sauce on his, just on the side. I had a batch of Rudy’s Copycat BBQ sauce in the fridge. We cooked the chicken per our usual way – coals on one side and sitting on a wire rack so the juices fall in the pan and not in the coals. I flipped the chicken around half way through.
We each ended up eating only half of each of our chicken – I may use the rest in soup this weekend.
I have to give a shout out to my bliend (blog friend!) Brooke of Brooke, not on a diet. She and I have been blog friends for a few years and I’ve watched her transform her body slowly but surely. It took her four long years, but she ended up losing 170 pounds. Recently Shape magazine asked her to be in one of the success story round ups. They asked for photographs of before and after. She chose to submit this picture as her after.
I love her smile in this picture – she’s wearing a bikini and loving it! You can read her story here about what happened next. Um, they basically told her that she couldn’t submit that picture and wanted her to put a shirt on. And guess what? She said no! So it’s been a whirlwind week for her – she’s been on Buzzfeed, GMA, Today Show, Today Show Australia – a media frenzy!
And ironically, it was one year ago today that I shouted that “She Lost Me!” because she met her goal weight on May 8, 2013. Since then she’s become a WW leader. So proud of you Brooke for standing up for yourself!
I don’t know how to imbed a video – but hopefully that link works – otherwise just google “Brooke Not on a Diet” and you can see all the media videos.
Alright, time to get this show on the road. How do you feel about Shape magazine asking Brooke to put a shirt on so you couldn’t see her loose skin?
Make it a great day!
How much fun that you were able to sit and dine outside, it was about time after the long Winter you had. I love that pic of Tony, he looks so relaxed and happy.
Well Tony looks like he is feeling better! Such a happy smile. I saw a news article about Brooke’s story and while I understand that she wanted to be real about how her body looks after a massive weight loss, I also understand that it doesn’t exactly fit with what Shape magazine wants to show
I am probably in the minority about Brooke. I think she overreacted to what they were asking her. I was in Shape and they came and did a photo shoot for me. I was asked to wear a solid color full coverage shirt. I never thought it was to cover any skin.
I agree w/ Kym, if Brooke felt comfortable with that photo, it should have been acceptable to Shape. If Shape isn’t interested in depicting the reality of the before and after of that kind of (dramatic) weight loss, they shouldn’t bother telling the story.
Bullets today!
~ It IS really hard to get stamina back up there when you haven’t been running for awhile. But you did awesome!
~ I *love* soft t-shirts the most! For some reason, our local brewery ones are the best.
~ Tony looks so happy! But you could have cropped that Chicago t-shirt out of the pic for me. 😉
Have a great weekend Biz!
Yay…..so glad you guys are enjoying your backyard and grilling again. The joy on Tony’s face shows it.
I kind of knew we would go from “winter to summer” weather in a flash. Now “they” can say, “See, we told you so, it’s “Climate Change” and “Global Warming” scam!!!
Your food always looks so good!!! Have a wonderful Mother’s Day!!!
Great pic of Tony – he looks like he’s feeling better, and I hope that is the case!
Your weather is like ours – blink and no spring, although we actually had some cool mornings along with our 80+ temps, which was unusual.
Have a great weekend, and a great Mother’s Day!
Shape can SUCK IT. Magazines like that drive women to try and attain some crazy kind of perfection. Welcome to the world of reality!
If you’ve been obese and lose a lot of weight – you are going to have lose skin!
If you’ve had a baby or babies in your 30’s and 40’s, you are going to have loose skin!
Some people have cellulite. I had it in my TEENS. Same with stretch marks.
She looks GREAT. We aren’t doing women any favors by showing only “perfect” bodies.
Oh, how I have missed blogging and blog reading! I can’t believe how warm it was yesterday and today over here in MI. Like you, after the winter we had, this is very, very nice!!
Have a great weekend!
89*??? What the what?!?! That’s crazy.
We’re gonna hit the 70s this weekend and I’m super excited, except for the forecast of rain for half of it. Ah well…good with bad I suppose!
Super photo of Tony! I like that his eyes are smiling too. I like the use of the word “bliend” I may have to kidnap that one. Of course I will give you full credit for its creation. As I posted already on Brooke’s blog a couple of days ago, I support her decision completely. If she was comfortable with the photo that is what should matter. Her photo is real. It shows a real body and what happens when you loose such a large amount of weight. Brooke is awesome and I am glad she is getting the media attention. Our society really needs to change its attitude about the way we view our bodies.
