I think I read that this is the coldest and most snow we’ve gotten this early in the winter in years. Last night on the drive home, it started to snow and it took me over an hour to drive home. Not fun.
I did, however, get my ass to the gym yesterday.
It was a legs day – I forgot how hard this workout was!

- Leg Press: 3 sets of 15 reps
- Squat Jump: 3 sets of 15 reps

- Lateral Bound (side-to-side single leg hops): 3 sets of 20 reps
- Smith Machine Squat: 3 sets of 30 reps
- Working Set Active Rest:
- Standing Calf Raise: 3 sets of 20 reps
- Jump rope: 3 sets of 1 minute
- Working Set Active Rest:
- Calf Press on Leg Press: 3 sets of 20 reps
- Jump rope: 3 sets of 1 minute
Whew! That took me 50 minutes to complete. The lunges take me the longest, since it’s 15 reps on one side, then 15 on the other. It was the last day of Fitmas at the gym, I only participated 4 out of the 8 days. Yesterday I got a $5 gift card to use for coffee, bottled water, or at their deli.
I never got around to making my zucchini quiche, so I made two breakfast tacos with fruit on the side.
I had to do a Sam’s Club run for work, and my plan was to hit the gym up for some cardio after that. Sadly, my blood sugar was perfect 102 – I guess I overestimated the insulin on the fruit. So I came back to the office and heated up my stir fry. For the record, the sriracha chili sauce is amazeballs!
After the long drive home after work, I decided to make something quick and easy – chicken Caesar salad. Tony bought this huge piece of Parmesan cheese at Sam’s club for only $8 and it’s really good!
My right eye was killing me last night, like I scratched it or something. So I just took it easy, watched Biggest Loser from last week, talked to Hannah on Facetalk, and then Tony and I caught up on some of the shows we have on the DVR. I love Long Island Medium! And, I won the football pics this week – I know it drives Tony and my step-son nuts when I win because I just completely guess and really know nothing about football.
I am taking a break from strength training today and plan on hitting up the stair master for a serious sweat session at lunch today. It’s been a while since I’ve done any cardio and I miss it.
Stats for the Day:
- 1630 calories (includes peanuts and veggie chips not pictured) 136 carbs, 81 fat, 100 protein, 14 fiber
- 32% of calories from carbs, 43% from fat and 23% from protein
- 50 minutes strength – legs
- average blood sugar 95
What I really want to do now is go back to bed and snuggle with Tony, but I guess I’ll jump in the shower in the hopes that it wakes me up! Make it a great day!
Lunges kill my legs – and they do take forever!
How cool that you got a gift certificate. I would be buying coffee for sure 😀
What a beautiful sunset! I also love to watch The Long Island medium. She is awesome and I would love a reading.
What is UP with all the snow here? It’s killing us….! Although saturday was nice with the warmer temps as the boys could play out in the snow!
I’m still so amazed – with two jobs, you are still rocking it at the gym. Keep it up!!!
Lookin’ good, Biz! Nice to hear from you. This is a very cold winter here in Minnesota, and we have a long way to go. Can we stand it? I guess we have no choice.
Hi Biz! You look soooo good! Yes, this has been a very cold and snowy winter so far, in our neck of the woods. I’m just thinking about 2011 when we took Christmas Eve photos on the steps, a bit chilly, but just with sweaters (and no coats) on.This year, I went to a party in early Dec., where the hostess’s home was so cold! I just couldn’t get comfortable, despite having a dress jacket over my dress.
Brrr…just looking at the pic of snow makes me cold! It’s pretty to look at but I don’t want to be in it. lol It’s 57 here in Alabama today. Now that I can handle! 😀
Yay you on the football pics! We are football watching fools at our house – college & pro. lol
I’ve been such a slacker lately on the work outs. I could say I’ve been too busy but you put me to shame with your schedule and still getting to the gym – so I’ll keep my mouth shut! lol 😀
Stirfry looks good…think I will do that today, have some fresh beans and peppers and chicken. I checked out the “hot sauce” section at the store, thinking I would get a bottle of that rooster sriracha hot sauce and they were all gone. There was a new brand there to take the place of the old sriracha sauce, guess I will have to try that. salad looks delish.
How did Tony like that Packer game on Sunday? They are saying Aaron will be back for the Steelers game AND @ Chicago!! That will be a BIG GAME!!!
Oh Louise,
The first place Bears don’t notice teams below them. Nice cards….bad team!
Wow, that is an awesome leg workout! 🙂
I hope your eye is OK!!!
I’m living through you on the workouts these days – hopefully I will be back at it tomorrow!!
Those cold and snowy days are ones I prefer to stay inside unless of course, it involves fun!
You go, girl…looking good! I wish I had your dedication.
Hahaha – I love when my girlfriends win the football picks for the week when the boys put so much time into it! (I don’t participate – I only know which uniforms I like best – lolol!)
Congrats on the football picks! We don’t watch pro football with any real seriousness, but I am missing college football already. The wait between the season and bowl games isn’t bad; it’s the other 8 months that I dread!
Love me some Caesar salad! I really need to learn to make a good dressing, anchovies and all. I’ve never had the guts to try making it…
You have been SO busy and don’t look tired at all! I always show how much sleep I’ve gotten ;). Those salads look perfect. I can’t wait until my allergy testing is done so I can enjoy milk products again….
Look at you! You are going to start the new year in such a good place. There will be no need for you to make a resolution to lose weight and exercise because you’re already doing that.
I’m glad I no longer have to content with snow. Be safe on the road. 🙂
I believe you about this being the coldest “winter” – and winter hasn’t officially hit, yet! I fear January, is all I’m saying.
We are having more cold and snow than usual in CT too. 4-6 more inches coming right now which will make the drive home tonight miserable. Weatherman is saying there’s a warm-up coming for the weekend, which will be nice for the retailers as this is the last big push and we had snow last weekend.
Biz you look terrific! I’m amazed at how you are able to do the entire workout. I usually have to improvise with at least a few of the exercises because my gym doesn’t have something or other.
I would love to crawl into bed myself, but I’m off to the gym instead. It was -3 when I left work this morning. It just started lightly snowing. We are supposed to get a few inches today.
Stay warm and have a great day!!
i totally hear you about wanting to go back to bed – I REALLY didn’t want to get up today! I’m going to BJ’s Warehouse, another club/warehouse store today and plan to stock up on some good stuff. I may have to check out the cheese section!
Have a great day, Biz!
You sound like my wife with football. She picks who she wants to win based on the color of their uniforms or their names.
