I woke up yesterday with low blood sugar – it was 49. I immediately grabbed a Nature Valley protein bar and inhaled it – if you’ve ever had low blood sugar before you know you want that feeling to go away as quickly as possible.
I was kicking myself afterwards though – I could have had a cup of grapes and it would have done the same thing without the extra calories – oh well! I ended up with another spinach omelet – this time all egg beaters/spinach/mozzarella cheese. These are so filling.
Regardless of being filling, it was a boring work day, so I ended up snacking on my granola I had at my desk – gah! Before lunch I realized I’d already had 755 calories! And yesterday was a rest day, so no exercise.
We had birthday celebrations at work, and I had to go to Mariano’s (local grocery store) to pick up cupcakes. On my way I saw a sign for a garage sale. I should have a bumper sticker:
I stopped at the house and bought a shirt, and she asked me if I wanted a map. I asked “a map of what?” She said the whole subdivision was having a garage sale and it marked the houses that were participating – score! I probably went to about 12 in 30 minutes.
I found a tupperware cupcake/muffin/cake container to take stuff to and from work, a couple cookbooks (shocker) and some shirts. I only spent $4.50.
This shot is for Michelle – she loves this store just as much as we do – we have to meet some day!!
I ended up getting a salad from the salad bar. I had my Ken’s reduced fat Caesar dressing at the office. This was very tasty.
Here are the cupcakes that I did not partake in:
The ones with the white frosting are red velvet – I was able to bring one home for Tony – he loves their red velvet cake.
I came home to cocktail Friday! I’ve never had a bloody mary before, I don’t know why, but at the Lake I had a sip of my Aunt’s it I liked it! Tony found me this spicy mix – Uncle Dougie’s makes awesome hot sauces.
I bought Uncle Dougie’s many years ago at a grocery store, loved it, and then I could never find it again. This was back in 1999 or so. I met Tony in 2000. We had only been dating a couple months and we were invited to his best friends house for a bbq. I asked if there was anything I could do to help, and the wife pointed to a cabinet to get some plates down.
I opened the door and all I saw were Uncle Dougie products – I couldn’t believe my eyes! I quickly asked “where did you get all this Uncle Dougie stuff?” And she replied, he’s a neighbor of our and brings us stuff all the time. What??!! Later that day, I met Uncle Dougie and he sent me home with a dozen bottles of hot sauce.
I ended up making the deep dish pizza dough yesterday morning before work. I just left it on the counter to rise all day. I really, really like the corn meal in the dough. I used 1/3 of the dough to make our thin crust pizza.
Green olives, artichoke hearts, deli pepperoni and sausage. Have I mentioned before how much I love party pizza Friday?!
The crust was perfect. I ended up blind baking the dough at 450 for about 5 minutes – added the toppings and then let it cook on my oven grate. So good! I ate 2 1/2 pieces.
The storms rolled in around 8:00 – it got pretty windy!
But after that, the cooler air came in and we were able to open up the windows and turn off the air. Right now, at nearly 10 in the morning, it’s a beautiful 77 degrees.
So today is my first WI with the DietBet. I worked out nearly 8 hours this week. Yesterday was my highest calorie day at 2045, other than that, I stayed below 1800. I know I “feel” smaller, so I thought I’d show more of a loss, but I’ll take any loss, even –.6.
I still have 3 weeks to lose 6.1 pounds – totally doable! I just have to make sure I keep up with my water intake over the weekend – I usually don’t do so well at that.
Stats for the Day:
- 2045 (includes the before dinner cocktail and wine)
- 73 fat, 157 carbs, 14 fiber and 84 protein
- 31% of calories from carbs, 32% from fat and 37% from protein
- rest day
Today is my Fit Test and Max Interval Circuit for Insanity. I also have some major clean up in our basement from when it flooded – some of the furniture I thought would eventually dry up, did not and it needs to be thrown out, and the carpet we had in a bedroom Tony built for my step-son ten years ago needs to be thrown out too. I have gloves and a mask though – don’t need to get sick from the mold.
Other than that, we have the usual grocery shopping, etc. Maybe lunch out – we’ll just have to see.
Have a great weekend! See you on Monday.
Wow that looks awesome, keep up the workouts too 🙂
Keep up with your workouts Biz – seriously, beyond impressive! I would die.
You are doing so well with the Insanity workouts again! I can’t wait to start it again in three weeks!!! Yay!
You do have the best stories. How fun to meet Uncle Dougie’s in real life.
Your doing so great with Insanity. It’s so hard not to see bigger losses on the scale but keep up all your consistent hard work Biz. It really does pay off.
I hope you are enjoying your weekend.
That’s what I keep telling myself Aimee – this is the longest time I’ve been consistent with exercise for a long time – and I am loving it! Hope you are having a great weekend and don’t have to work too much!
I’m anxious to visit Marianos. I just recently heard of them. That pizza looks good and so does the rain. It seems to have cooled things off a bit around here.
Best,
Bonnie
You will love that store Bonnie! Maybe there is one by you?

You have the neatest stories – way cool you got to meet Uncle Dougie! And yay for pizza and weight loss! Thanks for proving you can have both. 🙂
Our favorite bar and restaurant that serves the hot sauce Tom is addicted to has a bloody mary bar. They bring you a glass with ice and vodka and then you go make your own. They have 4 kinds of mix, about 15 different hot sauces, garlic, horseradish, pickles, hot peppers, celery, olives, spices, etc. It is amazing 🙂
I hope you and Tony have an awesome weekend.
I’ve seen those bloody mary bars before – but I just always thought I would hate them – I don’t like tomato juice, but spicy shit? Yes please!
Never had low blood sugar, sounds scary. Doctor put me on a mild medication last week so I am still watching what the blood sugars do. My average for 7 days is 143, guess I am still pre-diabetic and I would prefer to keep it that way. Losing weight and exercise is the key but when age creeps in, losing is hard (p.s. I like to eat and so does the husband)
Pizza and salad look great! I could pass on the cup cakes though. What is the name of that store you shopped and where is it located?….sure would like to shop at a place like that….would spend hours there for sure!! Many new things to look at and maybe try.
Well, have a great week-end and I am off to make one of those omelets again, sounds goood!! So glad the weather has cooled down a bit, it’s 73 outside and 79 in the house…it is livable today and my poor dog is not panting.
Oh btw, great garage sale finds!!! Love garage sales, I need to have one next month maybe. I will put out LOTS of cook books if you will come to mine….hahahaaaa
Yep, you can spend days in that store Louise!
Here is the link – don’t think they have Wisconsin locations yet.

Enjoy the cooler temps! 😀
I’ve never experienced low blood sugar. I’ve had Type II sine 2002 and it’s still too high. Will be finally giving in to the doctor within the next month or so to start insulin injections.
Party Pizza Friday sounds like a winner. Yum!
I haven’t lost any weight yet for the dietbet, so I’ve got work to do. Enjoy your weekend.
The needles are so thin these days Louise, you won’t even feel it – its just a part of my life with shots, and you just get used to it. Get out and move this weekend Roly! 😀
I bet the smaller than expected loss was salt related. You’ve been doing so awesome! Keep pushing! Salads from salad bars always taste way better than made at home versions. Yours looks delish
Low blood sugars can be scary, so glad you got it taken care of right away. Good for you in losing this week. I lost too, and am ready for the next three weeks.
Can’t wait to see your Fit Test results!!!
And, major score to find cookbooks at garage sales!! I love cookbooks – have way to many and occasionally end up buying a duplicate (which usually ends up in a garage sale unless I just give it away first).
I thought of Kim as soon as I finished it – I did twice as many reps on some things from Day 1 to Day 50 – woop! Enjoy your vacation!
Awesome!!!
