I’ve found out that I really, really have to be in the mood for a breakfast parfait. I was putting my stuff together yesterday and it was easy to toss in a Chobani, some fruit and granola and call that breakfast.
Even though I had plain Chobani, this ended up being really sweet to me – maybe the bananas were too much? I ended up eating only about 2/3 of this.
It looked nice when I went to the pool, but storm clouds rolled in and I thought they might close the pool, but I got in my 30 minute swim. However, the kids were like a magnet to the adult swim lap lane. Not kidding I think the lifeguards blew the whistle a couple dozen times telling kids to stay out of it!
I wanted to show you guys how close the gym is to my office – so I can never have an excuse that I don’t have the time. I am not sure you guys have heard my voice yet?!
Hope you got a kick out of that!
I made a batch of Renee’s chicken orzo soup for lunch – so good! The only thing I forgot was the chopped baby spinach – I wanted to add that when I reheated the soup, still good though!
When Tony and I were shopping over the weekend, I saw this cranberry walnut bread – it was packaged as half a loaf for $2 so I decided to give it a try. I was pissed though when I was looking over my register receipt when I got home and saw that it cost $4.19! Gah. I normally pay better attention – I blame Tony, he was probably distracting me! I do need to find a recipe for this though!
I made a deli turkey/cheddar panini. The bread isn’t overly sweet, and I love the nuts. (that’s what she said).
I asked Tony when I got home what he felt like for dinner – I gave him several options after which he said “whatever you want is fine.” So grilled chicken Caesar salads it was!
That was a great pre-workout meal. After dinner Tony and I watched Ray Donovan – a new series on Showtime with Jon Voight. It’s really good. That hour rest time was enough time for my dinner to digest and I killed Insanity last night – it felt really good to push hard. It was Max Interval Plyo and it was 56 minutes long!
So sweaty!! And that was even having the central air on! I ended up buying a case of this Gatorade – I plan on drinking one after Insanity – its low calorie and low carb – 45 calories for the whole bottle with 12 grams of carbs. I like that it doesn’t taste as sweet as regular Gatorade. And for the record, I didn’t mix it with the vodka that’s in the background.
I have to give a shout out today! Dave, of the couple Rachel and Dave of Losing It, just hit his 10% goal at Weight Watchers. Even before he started WW, he lost weight, and has lost 36 pounds on WW – so his total weight loss to date is 70 pounds! You should be so proud of yourself Dave! And it was Rachel’s birthday yesterday – happy belated Rachel!
They have this quote on their blog, which I think I’ll print out and put at my desk – just as a reminder to stay focused:
“Obstacles are what you see when you take your eyes off the goal.” ~ Vince Lombardi
Stats for the Day:
- 1762 calories, 84 fat, 147 carbs, 23 fiber and 114 protein
- 34% calories from carbs, 43% from fat and 23% from protein
- 30 minute swim at lunch
- 56 minute M2:D10 of Insanity – Max Interval Plyo
So how did everyone’s week start off – on the right foot? If not, today is a new day – you can’t change yesterday but you can brush yourself off and start again – make it a great day!
I love your little voice! And you have an outdoor pool? We had that in CA but my 9yo just tried out for swim team at an indoor pool (hello east coast). Loud, echoy, chloriny, argh!
Not what I make you sound like either. You’re laugh is pretty close. Now do we get to hear you and Tony together?
Loved hearing your voice, you have a very pleasant voice.
We have a subscription to the Dutch HBO. One of the advantages is that shows are on TV the night after they aired in the US. Dutch HBO bought Ray Donovan and I decided to give it a try and after 3 episodes I’m going to keep watching it. Love it.
I loved hearing your voice Biz. You sound so young! You should make a cooking video!
Love the video, you definitely have that Chicaaaaago accent going!! Congrats for kicking so much ass on your 2 a days! It takes a lot of willpower and drive to do that, especially in this heat and humidity! Go Biz!
We do not have accents in the Midwest; just southern people and folks on the East coast. Sheeesh 😉
You’re doing really well, and still have that great attitude. I wish you so much good luck on your dietbet and just in going full force in general for your health. I’m trying for new hard goals right now to, so when I’m making the hard choices, I’m sure you are too.
I laughed out loud at your comment about the kids being a magnet to the adult lane. I think I tell Logan 50 times every time we are at the pool to not go into that lane.
Your grilled ceasar salad looks AWESOME – love that idea!!!
Love the video! It is nice to hear someone’s actual voice. I read so many blogs and have no idea what most of the authors’ speaking voices sound like! Good for you on all the exercise! You are rockin’ it, girl!
No excuses. You are rockin’ it! I sing show tunes. And because of you I don’t complain when my husband wakes me up for our morning walk! But the dog goes crazy if we don’t take her. I guess I’ll have to make it up to her tonight! I love grilled caesar, too!
PS
You sound perfectly fine to me! I’m from Milwaukee and I used to work with someone from Kansas – she told me I sounded like I was from Canada! Yah hey dare Tony 😉
Haha! I didn’t think you had an accent but I’m from North Dakota! Your voice sounds different than I thought too! Higher pitched or something! I put Fiber One cereal on my yogurt and berries. (The one that looks like dog food! Lol!)
I bet you have an accent being from North Dakota! 😀 Yep, Fiber One does look like dog kibble, doesn’t it?!
Loved the video, but no Maroon 5?! boo 🙂 I think it is hotter there today than it is here, so stay cool.
I LOVED the video 😉 And the singing was just beautiful ;). That bread! Gah! I have grilled Caesar on the menu for next week- cannot wait. I agree with Randi- you sound super young!!
Let me know how you liked the grilled Caesar Erica! 😀
Love this. Know what Vat, you sound NOTHING like I imagined you would. Not really sure what I’d imagined. Made me think “I wonder what Vat thinks I sound like”. Just to clarify, I don’t sound like Bob or Doug McKenzie and say “eh” after everything like a Canadian hoser! 🙂 Not that I’ve ever met a Canadian who does that. Eh? 🙂
Have a great Tuesday eh? OK…I’ll stop.
Ha – you said hoser! 😀
You sound so young and wow, that Chicago accent!! I cant get into greek yogurt, unless its in a smoothie. I’d rather eat low-fat cottage cheese.
Thank you – I am glad you think my 45 year old voice sounds young! 😀
Ah-ha-ha-ha-ha!! laughing with the comments of your “accent” You know Biz….I think we do have a “Chicago accent” I have been accused of having a different accent and I live in upper WI – close to Green Bay (30 miles)……People have said to me, where are you from??? When I say Chicago……..they say, oh I can hear it. I actually don’t hear my accent, it’s everyone around me that has an accent of some sort…lol… 😀
Oh, but now I can put a voice to your blog! One thing I do not miss about Chicago is the long lights!!! And yes, I wait for all the cars to pass me too before I make my turns. Better to be safe then sorry…I say!!
As for your quote from Vince Lombardi….(this is for Tony)…. “GO PACKERS” Training camp starts July 24th will be great to start hearing about the Packers again!!!
That ceasar salad looks good, I should try that some time. Thanks for the Blueberry Tart recipe, shall try that also, what with all the berries I got the other day. I am needing to make a run to Door County for Cherries!!!!
Mr. Lombardi always said he was happiest in Washington after he got away from Green Bay.
Yah Hey Dare, that’s Wisconsin for hello.
hahahahaha you are so funny hey!!! “Yah Hey Dare” back to yah…hey ;D
I’m always pissed when items go through the scanner at the register and ring up wrong! Of course we never notice until we get all of the way home….right?
Oh my gosh, I don’t think I’ve ever heard your voice other than your fried rice video. I read the rest of this post listening to the video again, just trying to imagine you reading your post. Haha! I’m such a freak… 🙂
Ha – love it – maybe I should do a narrative post! 😀
Biz you sound like a teenager-so cute! And you have some sort of accent – maybe it’s a Chicago accent but it sounds sort of just northern to me, but mild. Looking good in that bathing suit, Biz!
LOL @ Beth having an accent! I was not aware of people from the midwest having accents, just the south and east coast(especially Boston) 😉
I’m from the midwest too and never thought I had an accent either but a friend up north insists I have a drawl! lol!
Thanks V! And I agree with Laura (Docklady) we don’t have accents – everyone else does!
Jay and I watched the first episode of Ray Donovan – I’m not hooked yet but I’m curious to see where it goes.
I will never ever record my voice for people – I sound like a 12 year old little girl!! haha
Your voice is different than what has been in my head..I had the accent, but your voice is not as deep as I imagined…not that I had you talking in a man voice or anything. I hate hearing my voice recorded, it’s realllll Southern!
I can definitely see the difference with this workout plan! You must be so pleased. I watched Ray Donovan, too and enjoyed it. My husband and I noticed that a lot of the actors really overdo the Boston accent, but the one who nails it is Liev, who is Australian! Pretty funny.
You are close to the gym. Your voice is not what I had imagined in my head either. You sound so young and sweet!! Not that you aren’t but you know what I mean. That soup of Renee’s looks delicious! Glad you got to use the pool even with the critter kids trying to steal your lane! 😉
Thanks for sharing your voice and your little drive. It seems like you went in a circle to get back to your office?? So nice that it’s so close. It still takes great commitment to do what you do – inspiring! Your salad looks yummy – I haven’ tried grilling my romaine yet…that’ll be my next step as wade into the ‘deep end’ 🙂 Oh, and I checked out your refried beans recipe that you linked yesterday – that sounds awesome and Yes, I could Mexican food everyday, too.
It looks like that because there is a housing subdivision next to the gym that I can’t drive through – its a gated community so I have to take the long way around.
I’ll have to save the video until I get home. 🙂 Question: do you wear a swimming cap? Not sure I could make a lunchtime swim happen, but even early morning, a swim cap might be advisable for me.
Nope, I don’t wear a swim cap. I always wear my hear in a pony tail – when I get out of the pool I usually just rinse my hair with water and conditioner, then partially dry it and put it back up – I am super low maintenance Sheryl – I can get out of the pool and be back at my office in 10 minutes. 😀
The granola is probably making it too sweet. I just use fresh nonfat Greek yogurt, berries (especially Wyman’s frozen blueberries – plus, they keep the yogurt cold!) or other seasonal fruit and then cinnamon on top. The cinnamon is good for your heart and keeps everything from being too sweet. With all the protein and fiber in this, you will be full for a long time!
I like your laugh, it sounds familiar 😉 Cool how close the gym is to your office; we have a fitness center at work, and very few of the employees use it 🙁
No vodka in the gatorade? My hubby made me a drink a few years ago (he made it up) and one of the ingredients was gatorade…it tasted like I imagine lantern fuel would taste like! Horrible, but it kicked a punch…and yes, I drank it anyway, don’t judge!
I’m pretty sure that we would be friends in real life!! You crack me up – I’m the same way with the singing – not on purpose just because I can’t carry a tune but it doesn’t stop me from belting out my songs!!
Awesome to be so close to the gym.
And I love what you wrote about not being able to change yesterday – 100% agree!!! Always moving forward, not looking behind!
You are seriously the best cook!
No matter when I read your blog, you are always whipping up something delicious! I love that you grilled the lettuce for the salads. YUM!
Loved hearing your voice! You actually sound just like my neighbor! haha anyhow…ya, I’m one of those wait until there’s no cars before I make my turn too…safety first ya know. Yay to making my soup! 🙂
That is not what your voice sounds like in my head!
Fun to hear you speak, and sing? LOL…you ARE really close to the gym, how nice!!!
