I was a whirlwind of activity before work yesterday. Putting together the granola I made for Hannah and her friend, putting all the stuff together for my taco fiesta lunch at work and checking my check list to make sure I had everything.
I got half way to work and realized that I never made anything for my breakfast! My first thought was “just have a taco!” but I ended up going to Subway. I got their 6 inch ham and egg white for 390 calories. Not only that, but through the month of April if you buy a sandwich before 9:00 a.m., you could get another sandwich of equal or lesser value for free!
I ended up getting two breakfast sandwiches, and promptly left the second half at the office – it will not be good on Monday.
I set the taco fiesta spread out at noon. Hannah and her friend Melody stopped by right around that time too. Melody and Hannah have been friends since 4th grade. Mel has a son who is 18 months old, and he is cute as a button.
Every time he got close enough to take a picture, all he wanted to do was grab the camera – such pretty blue eyes!
And then we started laughing our asses off because he kept wanted to feed us! First Hannah:
Then me – the only problem was after this chip, he’d take a chip, put it in his mouth and get it all soggy, then try to feed it to me. I was laughing until I was crying!
The spread: ground beef for tacos, lettuce, tomato, cheddar cheese, I even diced onions!, cilantro rice and confetti corn salad. I sadly forgot to add the chopped jalapeno to the corn salad, but it was still tasty. Right after I took these pictures, my camera died.
Don’t let the cowboy wallpaper scare you.
Tony wanted to grill again last night, so he said he was going to the store. We over the phone both looked at the sale flyer, and on page 9, I saw it. Pork shoulder for .99 cents a pound! I cannot wait to make pulled pork sandwiches for later in the week.
He ended up finding something in the 50% off bin! Love it. T-bone steaks, after the discount were each just over $2 each. I cooked both of them knowing that I’ll have leftovers to morph into one of my SIL’s lunches for next week.
He eyeballed my best beef marinade ever, adding a touch more soy sauce, but it was delicious.
Sadly, it was 42 degrees on our deck. Here is Tony’s Zoolander look:
I love, love, love Instagram! I am biz319 if you want to folow me.
The first picture was taken with just my camera, the second was taken on Instagram.
The meat marinated for about 3 hours.
I made twice baked potatoes on the side.
I only ate about 1/3 of the steak and all of my potato. Since I was busy before work and ate lunch in with Hannah and Mel, I took yesterday as a rest day. Hope to get outside and run this afternoon – temps near 60 today!
Tony and I plan to grocery shop and lunch out today – I have to seriously deep clean my freezer and fridge before I even begin to meal plan. Do you have anything new you are going to try this week?
With some of the leftover steak I think I am going to make a version of this Beef Pho soup:
And I still have cauliflower to make the buffalo cauliflower “wings”:
Alright, I’ve been up far too long without having a cup of coffee. Hope you have a great weekend!
Gahhh! Pork shoulder for 99c/lb?! I would kill for that price! My son’s first communion is in two weeks and we are going to make pulled pork – I haven’t bought it yet because it’s $3.19/lb! That steak looks delicious!
You are so thoughtful chopping those onions!
isn’t instagram fun! i should really use it more. i love looking at your pics.
so much good food in this post! love me a good steak.
That steak looks amazing! I can’t get over how juicy it looks. Yum!
Sometimes I love Instagram and sometimes I like my phone camera better. Sad that I don’t use my proper camera much any more 🙁 I’m watrmlon on instagram!
I love instagram too! Looks like you found some great deals, happy happy!
You diced onions?!?! Wow! 🙂
I laughed out loud when I got to Mariano’s this afternoon. Brussels sprouts were on sale for .99/lb. You know I stocked up!! Did you grill again tonight? We made our entire dinner on the grill–it was awesome to have the warmer weather (even if it only lasts for the day). 🙂
We actually had a late lunch, so I made pizza! The dough had been in the fridge for a week, so it was amaze balls!
My kids love zoolander, personally I don’t get the humor, but enjoy seeing the kids crack up.
mmm…tacos…
Great price on that steak – it looks amazing! I’ve recently gotten really into instagram too…just followed you! 🙂
I LOVE Instagram…its so addicting and fun. I must try that cauliflower….looks good and spicy..
k, I don’t have an i or smart phone so I’m not a 100% what instagram is other than sharing pictures, but I LOVE LOVE LOVE that second shot! BTW did you notice that your door and window are flipped in the wine? I recently learned the photo trick from my FIL who is a photographer and have been obsessed w it.
Instagram helps you “fine tune” your pictures with various settings, I am completely addicted to it!
I did notice the reflection in the wine glass, but for the life of me I have no idea how I took that shot! 😀
Thanks Renee!
What a cutie! For some obscure reason I like the cowboy wall paper! (no accountin’ for taste around here!)
Tony looks very chill, can’t wait for his fried rice video! 🙂 I ‘m grilling rib eye steaks tonight, hope they look that good! Have a good weekend!
I know, we’ll get to the video soon! Hope the weather is good in your neck of the woods!
What an adorable little boy, he is definitely a ladies man. I have nothing new or exciting planned this week, but I am grilling tomorrow thanks to your inspiration.
We are grilling tonight again too! This time a beef roast – I may make a horseradish sauce to go with it.
Doesn’t it feel so good when you get a ton done in the morning? I love. The corn mixture looks totally delicious. Again, wish I worked with you! Great job on the steaks- perfect marks. Have a wonderful weekend
Thanks Erica – you too! 😀
What a cutie pie! And wow, those buffalo ‘wings’ look amazing – I’m bookmarking that recipe right now. There is hope I can get M to eat them!!
They have been on my list of things to make for the longest time!
