I got half way to work and realized I never made anything for my breakfast. I got to work a bit early so I jumped over to Subway to pick up a breakfast sammie. I was looking at the nutritional information on the glass, and it said that a steak, egg white and cheese on flat bread was only 210 calories – nice!
I loaded it up with veggies and hot sauce and had a cup of raspberries on the side – super filling.
I later went on Subway’s website to double check the nutrition. Um, the THREE INCH flat bread is 210 – my 6 inch? 480 calories! I didn’t even realize they made a 3 inch sandwich. All told it, breakfast comes in at 544 calories, 18 fat, 61 carbs, 13 fiber (nice!) and 33 protein.
I finally got my ass outside! It was about 84 degrees, kind of humid.
The corn across from my office is starting to get really tall! I walked for the first 10 minutes, and then started my run. Holy shiz. Not working out for 2 weeks, it feels as if I am starting from scratch. The first half of my run/walk was pretty pitiful, but the second half was decent. Those of you who follow me on Facebook saw that I was able to smile after my 5k!
But today is going to be in the 90’s, so as soon as I hit publish, I am hitting up the air conditioned gym! Um, turns out I need to go to bed earlier to get up to go to the gym. As soon as I hit publish I’ll have just enough time to do a 30 minute DVD at home. I love sleep!
Lunch was leftover pork tacos, 1/2 cup of yellow rice with corn, and the best strawberries I’ve had all year. Lunch comes in at 561 calories, 26 fat, 54 carbs, 7 fiber and 32 protein. I am loving the 100 calorie packs of guacamole – and the fact that they freeze so well.
My boss is a Starbucks junkie. Every day, rain or shine, she gets her $4.50 triple shot coffee. For those of you playing along, 5 days a week, for 50 weeks (taking into account vacation and time off) that is $1,125 dollars a year . . . for a cup of coffee!
Anywho – she bought these VIA refresher things. $5.95 for five of them. They are described as follows:
Starbucks VIA Refreshers™ Cool Lime combines kaffir lime with hints of mint, cucumber and apple, and pairs that with the natural energy of green, unroasted coffee beans. It’s a breakthrough in instant refreshment that tastes nothing like coffee. Light, juicy and thirst-quenching, with a natural boost of caffeine. Enjoy Starbucks VIA Refreshers™ wherever the moment takes you
It seemed like an awful lot of powder for a 16 ounce bottle of water – I had a 23 ounce bottle of water at my desk. I actually didn’t take a picture of the actual water, because it really looked like dingy dish water. And the taste? Interesting. There was a slight aftertaste. It was citrusy, but not overpowering. It wasn’t until after I drank it that I read the ingredient list:
CANE SUGAR, WHITE GRAPE JUICY POWDER (MALTODEXTRIN, GRAPE JUICE SOLIDS), NATURAL FLAVORS, LIME JUICE POWDER (MALTODEXTRIN, LIME JUICE SOLIDS), GREEN COFFEE BEAN EXTRACT, ERYTHRITOL, CITRIC ACID, ASCORBIC ACID (VITAMIN C), REBAUDIOSIDE-A (STEVIA LEAF EXTRACT)
Not sure that being diabetic, my drink of choice should start with cane sugar as the first ingredient. It was 35 calories and 10 grams of carbs. I’ll stick to my water, thank you very much.
My store makes the best marinated flank steaks – on sale this week for $4.99 a pound. We can’t even figure out what the marinade is, because if you were to look at it, you couldn’t even tell its marinated. But it cooks up super quick. In fact, even with turning the gas grill on, dinner was ready from beginning to end in 15 minutes – nice, easy weeknight dinner.
Dinner comes in at 562 calories, 22 fat, 44 carbs, 10 fiber and 23 protein.
So here is my new vow: move for the next 20 days – even if its just walking, biking whatever. I can’t get out of the habit of working out, and they say it takes 21 days for a habit to form.
Stats for Wednesday:
- 1607 calories, 67 fat, 150 carbs, 30 fiber (nice) and 32 protein
- 5k walk – 50 minutes total with walking
- average blood sugar 132
How many of you are Starbuck’s junkies? I actually only indulge at Christmastime for the Pumpkin Latte – although I think that is now out by October! Guess what we got in the mail at my office yesterday? A catalog for Christmas cards! We just got through the 4th of July!
Make it a great day!
Your breakfast food always looks so yummy. Who am I kidding… all your food creations look yummy!
I think I could live on coffee. I love coffee flavored anything as long as it isn’t too sweet. I do limit my intake to one 12 oz. cup a day except on Friday & Saturday. Starbucks is my favorite but I try to limit my trips to once a week. I usally get a venti black iced coffee w/ no ice. I take it home and add my own sugar free creamer and ice. It works out great because that way I get two drinks for the price of one. 🙂 My weekly morning coffee is made with an instant coffee(Pilon) my husband calls it “liquid crack”. I have jars of it stocked in my hurricane supply kit 🙂 It reminds me of the Starbucks via coffee.
omg, where did you get 100 calorie packs of guacamole???????????
Sam’s Club! I think there are about 20, 100 calorie packs in a package, and its like $7.99. You can freeze them too! 😀
Hiiii Bizzz! Sorry I’ve been a bad blog friend. 🙁 Forgive me!
Who eats 3 inches of a sandwich? Not me, that’s for sure!!! And your price breakdown on coffee is scary. I frequented Tim Hortons when we lived in OH and my coffee was $1.55 and I got it about 3 mornings a week. I even had trouble justifying that!!
Well – I loves me some coffee, but I would prefer other places over Starbucks. Problem is – Starbucks is the only cafe open at night around here!
Yay for working out! Christmas already … wow crazy. I do enjoy a Starbucks every now and then, but not everyday, that is for sure! There is one across from my work, and my boss gets one everyday too!
Good for you Biz! I’m sorta in the same predicament. I have been off for about 3 months due to a broken foot (which you probably saw linked on my blog 1000 too many times). I walked 2 hr today. Next week I want to lift weights again. But it’s so hard when starting from zero! Good luck!
