Okay, I know its only been Day One of my Inspirational Diet, but I have to tell you – it worked for me yesterday. I started the day with my 30 Minute Stretch – I have 14 different episodes recorded!
Breakfast was two scrambled eggs that I put into half of a leftover red pepper, on the bottom of the pepper is a couple tablespoons of marinara sauce, and 3/4 ounce of cheese on the top – then put under the toaster oven. With a side of strawberries – this plate is light on calories, but it stuck with me! 274 calories 15 fat, 17 carbs, 4.6 fiber and 17 protein.
Tony was near my office around lunch time. I never turn down an opportunity to have lunch with my husband! We went to the Assembly, which hands down has THE BEST burgers and Reuben sandwiches. I actually thought for a second “my weigh in isn’t until next Monday, so I can work it off before then!”
They cook the food right on the inside of the bar on these grills – the smell is amazing alone.
But I thought of my inspirational video from yesterday and said “Arthur wouldn’t order the Reuben!” I ended up getting a grilled chicken breast, only I only ate 1/2 of one slice of bread, half of the breast with 1/2 cup of baked beans. No fries!
Lunch estimate is: 451 calories, 14 fat, 34 carbs, 7.5 fiber and 48 protein. Thanks for lunch Tony!
I had defrosted a small beef tenderloin and remembered that I bought fresh green beans. I wondered if I could grill them? I tossed them raw in about 1/2 teaspoon of olive oil, salt and pepper and cooked them along with the beef.
I put them in a bowl and splashed them with a bit of white balsamic, lemon juice, lemon zest and more salt and pepper – these were tasty! My 4 oz of beef, 4 oz of potato and green beans (I added 1 tsp. extra virgin olive oil to the calories between the potatoes and green beans) – dinner came in at 459 calories, 27 fat, 27 carbs, 5.7 fiber and 26 protein. I loves me some rare meat!
While I didn’t get in my lunch time workout, I am happy with day one.
- 1237 calories, 59 fat, 85 carbs (nice!) 17 fiber and 93 protein
- average blood sugar was 162
- 30 minute daily stretch
Things I didn’t do:
- Didn’t eat any food leftover in the kitchen while I was cleaning up (confession time, I do that a lot!)
- Didn’t eat any snacks at work.
- I was a bit hungry in the afternoon but made myself a 50 calorie iced coffee, and that hit the spot.
- No wine. I just had vodka. Kidding!
I have my quarterly diabetes doctor appointment at lunch today, so I am up early to hit the gym.
I loved reading the comments yesterday about my Inspirational Diet. This next video? If this doesn’t motivate you to move today, I really don’t know what will.
Make it a great day!
That was just the kind of video I needed to see Biz. It’s helping with the things I’m going through right now!
And woman, you can totally do this!!!
Good job, one day at a time! That beef looks perfectly cooked to me, love it rare 🙂
Great job on your first day, you have been an inspiration to me! 🙂 ( I would have the hardest time passing up fries!)
Your inspirational diet sounds like an awesome plan. I really like the idea Biz 🙂 Your comment “no wine…I just had vodka” cracked me up…lol!
Holy shit, I am bawling. I have seen Dick and Rick’s story before, but never this particular video. I can! That’s the thing, and it’s amazing. I CAN.
Awww Team Hoyt tugs on my heart strings every time I see them running. I was so bummed that I didn’t get to see them this time.
Good luck at the doctor’s today. Great day 1!! I love your list of things you didn’t do. Good for you. Have a great day 2!!
I’m really glad the new diet plan is working so far…sounds like a great idea! 🙂 That breakfast stuffed pepper looks awesome, yum!
Go Biz, Go! I love your new inspirational diet. I’m actually a huge emotional eater myself ( from having an eating disorder I always placed huge significance on each and every thing i ate) and now food has become a comfort thing for me.. my weight increase has definitely showed it. Much of the weight I needed to put on, but now I just want to be “normal” eater and not have to rely on food in times of stress. I think your inspirational diet is going to help me out too!
Hope it helps you Sarah! Sending you big hugs! 😀
That is cute! “Arthur wouldn’t eat the Reuben!” I do that alot- put people in my head to motivate me. Kinda like WWJD but with the person’s initials. WWAD!!
I love the idea of your inspirational diet, and that “quitting” WW doesn’t mean that you’re giving up on losing weight. You have to find what works for you, or else it’s pointless!
Getting through day 1 is the hardest- and if you wake up on day 2 optimistic and happy, I’d say it’s working!!
Good job on day 1, Biz! I’ve never tried to grill green beans, sounds interesting!
Loving it! I roasted green beans this weekend- so so good! And the idea of putting eggs in a roasted pepper sounds fabulous
Your inspiration worked, because your calories were pretty low yesterday…and hey, whatever it takes, whatever works for you, is all that matters. Great start!
P.S. Did you lose any of the green beans through the grill? I can barely grill asparagus without sacrificing at least one spear to the grill gods…shorter green beans, and I’d REALLY be in trouble!
Sadly, I did lose a few, and I had to be really careful taking them off the grill – kind of like pick up sticks! 😀
WTG Biz! Keep those sneaky snacks away!
With no exercise, it completely makes sense that your caloric intake would be lower. Glad you had a good ‘first’ day. Good luck at the doctor!
I woke up today, and my first thought was “Live Like Lauren.” Lauren is my friend who died from Colon Cancer last September – she was an amazing friend, killer athlete, and super healthy. She was very young when she died (I write about her a lot on the blog). Your inspiration video yesterday has me thinking about inspiration all around, and that my first thought today was to LLL, it means your mentality has really inspired me!
The Hoyts are amazing, and I cry with joy and heartbreak every time I see the team at a race. Unfortunately, the video you posted isn’t loading. Here is another link that might work: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=flRvsO8m_KI
I also love this new approach because it isn’t about dieting but about living life to the fullest. Thank you again for changing my perspective.
Thanks for the link Julia! 😀
