These warm temps in our neck of the woods is making me want to bring out my outdoor furniture and gazebo already. But, it being Chicagoland, I know mother nature has her way of toying with us with summer like temperatures in March, only to snow in April.
I am starting to be like blogger Kath Eats who has oatmeal nearly every single day of her life. So I give you . . . ANOTHER PARFAIT! This time it was Chobani mango – 7 WW points.
With the temps in the high 60’s I decided to be like Lori and get my maiden 2012 bike ride on! I still had my bike stored at work, and since I have an air compressor (not sure if that’s the correct name – Tony may correct me on that one!) it took all of a couple minutes to get air in my tires and take off. I work a jacket for all of about 5 minutes – it was gorgeous! Although, it does look prettier when everything is GREEN.
This 50 minute bike ride was hard – part of the trail is pretty hilly, which I conveniently forgot from last fall. Some of the hills I was huffing and puffing so hard, no one would know that I could run kinda fast! Felt good though – its just such a nice break in my work day and I feel refreshed when I get back, even though its depressing to sit behind a computer all afternoon. š
So here I give you ass on a plate . . . that tastes delicious! I had baked up some baked potatoes the other day, just to have on hand. When I was looking for something else in my pantry, I realized I had an unopened jar of sauerkraut – what??!! I love sauerkraut. I could eat it straight up out of the jar without even heating it up. But Skippy, no sauerkraut for you – after I put in one cup of sauerkraut into fatsecret.com, while a cup has only 27 calories (basically zero points) it has 939 grams of sodium per cup! I’ll need to up my water intake for the rest of the week. š
On top of my 1 cup of sauerkraut, I have a 5.5 ounce baked potato (4), 3 ounces of lean pork (3) with 2 tablespoons of Buffalo Wild Wing Spicy BBQ sauce (1). This delicious plate of food comes in at 8 points.
Tony didn’t have much of an appetite for dinner last night, so it was all me. I ended up making a GINORMOUS taco salad – while it looks like a ton of food (and took me nearly 30 minutes to eat) it’s really mostly vegetables: 3 cups chopped romaine, carrots, celery, yellow pepper and cilantro (0), 3 ounces of cooked 85/15 ground beef (5), 1/2 ounce of cheese (1) and my dressing was 1 tablespoon salsa, 1 tablespoon hot taco sauce and 1 tablespoon of light ranch dressing mixed all together (1) – so 7 points for this whole salad. š
Check out this weeks BSI – Parmesan Recap and Winnter at My Kitchen Adventures: Tami from Nutmeg Notebook won with her Parmesan Spinach Cakes: Don’t those look delicious?
You’ll have to come back tomorrow for this quick bread recipe – ready from beginning to end in just an hour and 15 minutes!
I have yappy hour at my friend’s house after work – should be fun! Make it a great day!
I LOVE sauerkraut! One of my favorite sandwiches is sauerkraut on a hamburger bun.
If you rinse it, it reduces the sodium š
I always rinse canned veggies. It’s better for you and doesn’t change the taste
The bread looks delicious, but so does your potato & kraut plate! I’d totally hit that. Great job on your bike ride!
I have four words: BEST BLOG TITLE EVER!!!!! š
Um, the sauerkraut meal does look nasty. The fact that I have never eaten sauerkraut (should I?) and don’t like hot wing sauce may affect my views, though. The salad looks good, and you better deliver on that bread recipe.
Your title cracks me up because it is so true! Everything looks delicious to me!
Pretttttty much everything I make both looks like ass and tastes delicious! So proud of you for rocking out on the exercise, Biz!
I think that ASS looks delicious! š
That taco salad looks delicious, and I don’t think the potato concoction looked bad at all. Here in AZ we are enjoying our last few weeks of awesome weather before we turn into the summer blast furnace.
YAY for biking!! Yay! I love it when other people bike. Seems like everyone just runs.
Sauerkraut….shudder… I can’t do it!
You crack me up. My work internet filter didn’t like A $ $, so I had to hop on my phone to comment – LOL! And aren’t these temps amazing? I am seriously in love…and down right depressed to be inside all day long.
P.S. I made Apple Cinnamon Quinoa Parfaits with Greek yogurt and I am in love. Recipe coming soon, but I think you would love them!
The title of this post made my morning! I think most of my food looks assalicious. I’ll never win an award for most decorative food plating.
Isn’t this weather amazing?! Glad you got your bike ride in. I think it’s awesome that you can get out for such a nice work out on your lunch break. It looks like a beautiful area.
ASSALICIOUS! Definitely going to use that word going forward – thanks Aimee!
I made an entire dish of ass yesterday for my son’s dinner. He kind of hesitated when he saw it, but courageously went in for a serving. He did declare it delicious after the first bite. Though I do kind of wonder if it was actually delicious or was delicious in comparison to what he thought it was going to taste like. š
There’s more snow in our forecast today!!! Ick!
I am so sorry about the snow in your neighborhood Jenn! š
Sometimes I get in food ruts too. Lately I’ve been having peanut butter on a buckwheat waffle. Everyday for almost 2 weeks, I’m finally sick of it!
I love taco salads. Always so satisfying and you can throw on tons of salsa and hot sauce. YUM!
YES! The weather is absolutely fabulous. I ran at 6:45 this AM and it was already 60=loveeeeeee. I agree- delicious food doesn’t always look GREAT. Hello, soup? Chili?
haha…you know what I had for lunch yesterday? My favorite combo in the whole world…leftover braised cabbage and smashed potatoes….cabbage and potatoes…a GREAT COMBO….and what is sauerkraut after all…cabbage right? I bet it tasted wonderful indeed!!!!! It’s all in the eyes of the beholder!
Biz your breakfast looks so delicious every day.
Great that you could take your first bike ride of the season. I’m not much of a biker, more a runner or walker. That’s mostly because of Bella. She doesn’t like to sit in the basket when do a bike ride. She prefers walking š
Tasty, gross looking meals are my specialty! lol. I love your blog titles!
Foodgawker may not be picking up Ass on a Plate anytime soon but I’m sure it was awesome! My favorite meals look gross! š
Nope – foodgawker usually says “composition too tight/lighting coloring issues” or my favorite “not compelling subject!:
That salad looks delicious! Maybe I will throw together a taco salad for lunch today! š
My mom is just like you with sauerkraut! She can eat it out of the can. Great minds think alike!
That does kind of look like as…but I bet it was delicious, yum!
I must go buy a bike and rack for the car, ASAP!!
Sam, I bought my bike at a garage sale 7 years ago for $20 bucks – still works great!
Glenn loves sauerkraut but I’ve never made it or served it. He has to get his fix at a sandwich shop or maybe this weekend when we go to a friends for a St. Patricks day feast.
Mornin Biz! I’ll call you when I get to work.
Great job on the bike ride!!
