No surprise in this weeks WI – I only worked out 4 times and let’s just say I ate a bit too much this week!
So 162.4. I want to be 150 by January 1, so that’s 12 pounds in 7 weeks. I am super excited about my new eating plan and workout schedule – I haven’t incorporated strength training into my routine in ages.
The company that’s sponsoring my new eating and exercise plan makes a scale that doesn’t tell you in numbers how much you weigh. Only if you’ve gained or lost since the last time you stepped on the scale.
The premise is that too often we concentrate so much on the number, that we fail to recognize small successes on the scale. Interestingly enough, that was the topic in WW today – healthy-thinking strategies for facing the scale, no matter what it says.
It was interesting to hear people talk about the scale today – if you WI and have a loss and you know you drank wine and had pizza, you think “I can have wine and pizza every week and lose weight!” Except we all know that it will catch up with you the next week.
Bottom line, if you lead a healthy lifestyle, the scale will follow you.
I am off to put my grocery list together – going to Whole Foods tomorrow too for almond flour, coconut water and coconut milk. And starting today no more alcohol – I think that alone will make my scale move in the right direction!
I also plan on taking measurements today too. So tell me, are you a slave to the scale? How often do you weigh in?
It’s a gorgeous day today, I plan to get a walk in sometime today. π
Donβt forget you have until Sunday morning to submit your BSI recipe β pumpkin!
And you have until Monday to enter my food scale giveaway.
Good for you! I know you can do it!
I haven’t weighed myself in quite some time. I don’t weigh myself very often anymore but like to “check in” once in a while. When I was losing weight, it was hard not to step on the scale every day, which sometimes could be very discouraging.
Great attitude! You will do it!
go girl! i completely agree with you and i love your attitude. good luck!
I am not a fan of the scale at all. I went through three really rough years battling anorexia. I lived by my scale! π The numbers controlled every aspect of my life. Almost 2 years ago I just said “Thats it, I’ve had enough!” And tossed out my scale. I’ve never looked back. Hopefully in the future I can learn to see beyond the numbers, and I am actually really interested in the scale you mention. To not have the stress of an actual weight, verse just seeing if i have gained, lost, or maintained, sound fantastic!
Love your blog!!!
I step on the scale every Saturday morning right now!
I cannot think
I βforgotβ to read your blog
seeing that I observed it 3 months earlier. Also busy
with operate I guess. Anyways I
have it bookmarked now to be
confident that I get
notified when you place
some new content up.
Good luck as you move forward with your plan Vat!!! We’re right here beside you cheering you on!!!!
My goal is to just get back on track. As everyone knows, that sounds easy but once that train is derailed it is so hard to get it back on the track. I think having a scale to weigh my food would be a step in the right direction. Keep up the good work Biz!!
I have been avoiding the scale for a while now, but I need to weigh…I feel fat today, so I’ll wait until tomorrow maybe π I’m curious to see how the Paleo diet goes for you, I’ve thought about trying it – but I’m such a carb addict. I had good results with Atkins several years ago, but it was SO.HARD!!
I have a scale that has no numbers – probably a lot like this one you have. It is nice because I don’t see an actual number. Sometimes I weigh monthly, sometimes weekly, and sometimes daily depending on what my goals are in terms of maintenance/losing.
Enjoy the paleo!
Pound, schmound. Don’t worry about it. You did say you ate a little extra this week in anticipation of the Paleo diet, so I am surprised it is not more. Good for you.
I think you are going to notice a huge change in the next couple of weeks, especially staying away from the wine. You’ll see! And we’ll be here rooting you on.
Enjoy your walk. It is a beautiful day here too. I have all the windows open [probably the last time this year, but I’ll take it.]
I weigh myself everyday. It kinda takes the pressure away from one big WI. I use to get really upset when I would weigh myself once a week if the scale didn’t show the number I wanted. Now that I weigh myself everyday I see the ups and downs. I now know that salty food, strenuous exercise, make the scale go up. Alcohol, too much coffee make it go down. No more flipping out about a number.
Our Walmart now carries coconut water- I wonder if yours does too? It may be cheaper than WF. I have a hard time with the scale. When I see a number I don’t like, I get super discouraged. I think it’s lady nature to get that way. I do notice a big difference when I am eating a clean diet though. Being clean isn’t always fun though!
In the past when I’ve tried to lose weight I would weigh myself every day – I was obsessed! This time around I’ve limited myself to once a week and it’s been much more successful. I try not to think about the number so much and instead focus on how I feel physically, how I feel mentally, how my clothes feel. As long as I’m making healthy choices at *almost* every meal I feel pretty darn good! π
If you calculate in the water losses and water gains, it isn’t even logical for us to think that we really lost or gained 3 pounds, or some other huge-er number than we imagined. For most people, we can only lose or gain up to 2 pounds/week. The rest is water weight either way. So we are just working ourselves up over something very small.
I agree entirely with what you say: “If you lead a healthy lifestyle, the scale will follow you.”
π Marion
I’ve been avoiding weighing myself lately because I want to focus on measurements and how my clothes feel. Otherwise the scale just makes me feel like CRAP!
Well, you know my feelings about the scale, lol! I’m excited for you (and Helen) to do this new plan and see some nice changes! Just curious – have you seen a picture of your trainer? Does he look cute like Dolvett? π
It is a really beautiful day! I’m going to follow you, and take a walk, too.
You are so right about the tricks on the scale, how the stuff you put in your body isn’t always reflected right away on the scale. I’m excited to hear about how you feel re: the new scale. Will it be good? Will it frustrate you? I want to know!
I hope you have a wonderful weekend : )
I hate the scale Biz! I really do. I was tempted to take a peak today before my weigh in on Thursday, but I didn’t do it. I have to remind myself that as I’m trying to lose 11 pounds by the new year I need the scale as a tool to track my progress. The scale can change my mood in an instant for good or bad. I despise its power.
I love the idea of the scale simply telling you which direction you are going. Brilliant!
Sounds like you have a great plan in place. Right now…i must admit… I am a bit of a slave to the scale! I want to see that pre preggers number!
