Wow – I was overwhelmed with the response from my last post. It makes me think that I am not the only one who gets unsolicited advice! All I know is if anyone puts Biz in a corner, I have a posse backing me up! (insert Dirty Dancing reference here!) 😀
That being said, I’ve officially decided to join Weight Watchers! The location near me has 20 meetings during the week, and someone told me that the Saturday morning leader is awesome. I will be there with bells on at 8:00 a.m.! 😀
For breakfast I had red pepper egg white tostadas with avocado. I just put corn tortillas in my office toaster oven to crisp up – you need to be careful because they can go from being done to burnt in a matter of seconds.
Later in the morning I decided it was a good time to sneak out to the gym. Only thing is that I drove the Explorer and not the Mazda – and my gym clothes were in the Mazda. 🙁
So later I went to heat up my lunch. I had the remainder of my ancho chile and hominy stew. After I heated it up though, it had a funky smell and taste. Then I remembered I made this right after Thanksgiving! So I went down to our office cafe, and got an unBiz lunch:
They call it an 8 inch personal pizza – I ate four slices, or half. I’ve only had pizza twice in the last couple months – this one was delicious! Maybe I can convince Tony to bring back party pizza Friday? 😀
Dinner was another bust. I had defrosted pork chops a couple days ago, and again, when I opened the package they were just gross. So on to Plan B. Taco Salad!
If you have a stocked freezer it will save you. At all times I have at least a couple pounds of chicken breasts and ground beef.
My salad: romaine lettuce, iceburg lettuce, cucumbers, pickled jalapenos, ranch dressing, Tabasco chipotle sauce, 1/4 cup guacamole (that turned out to be spicy – sorry Tony!) and 3 ounces of ground beef.
I also didn’t have any taco seasoning. Turns out I took it to work and never brought it home – hey, I have to have a stocked work pantry, right?
So I made a quick one:
Biz’s Taco Seasoning
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon sea salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
Oh, and for a snack today I tried new almonds – salt and vinegar! Oh my goodness, so good! My CVS had these on sale for .50 a package – and while they say its one serving, I make each bag two servings.
And when I left work last night – it was snowing 🙁
BSI UPDATE! We are taking a break from BSI because of the holidays – we will resume on Monday, January 3, 2011. If anyone wants to host, just shoot me an email at mybizzykitchen@gmail.com.
So it will be a fun weekend – starting WW tomorrow, and then my Mom is coming over on Sunday and we are going to a Voices of Harmony Messiah at the Raue Center in Crystal Lake. Then she’s staying for dinner. And sometime in between, sorry to say this Tony, but its time to bring out the snowmen and decorate our Christmas tree!
I still can’t believe Christmas is 15 days away already!
Stats for Thursday:
- 1516 calories, 94 carbs, 88 protein, 88 fat and 15.1 fiber
- no exercise 🙁
So have a great weekend everyone – and thanks for having my back! I’ll be back on Monday with a weekend recap. Hugs! 😀
Congrats on the WW decision! That will be good. It’s a good program and having the support in meetings will be helpful. Good luck!
Hope you enjoyed your first weight watchers meeting yesterday. I have herd great things about them versus just doing the program online.
I am SO Excited you are doing Weight Watchers!!!! I am finishing up my 2nd week on the program and LOVE IT!!!!! You will too 🙂

Those tostadas look super fab!! 🙂
The snow in your photo and the snowflakes in your header make me wish for snow! It’s been soooo dry in Colorado this winter.
Love the looks of those almonds too. One of my favorite treats.
I wish we had gotten to have a drink in Chicago too! But yes, 50 miles away is a bit out of the way – eek! I did think of you from when you went their earlier with your family!!
Congrats on joining WW!
In other news, I had your breakfast nachos this a.m. AMAZING. And we made your buffalo chicken chili! It was bizzy in my kitchen! 🙂
That’s awesome! Glad you liked the breakfast nachos 😀
Congrats on your decision to join WW. I am curious how it works when you cook so much at home. Do you have any way to convert your recipes into points?
I ended up getting the monthly plan for $39.95, which includes free eTools. They have a recipe builder and I’ve already entered some of my favorite recipes, like my buffalo chicken chili – its so cool!
Good luck with weight watchers 🙂 I love that last picture too – gorgeous!
I have got to try the Biz home made taco seasoning looks easy.
Thanks!

I”m joining WW again, but this time not at work. The only time we could meet was lunch, and to have to weigh in then and sit through the meeting didn’t work for me. I prefer a morning meeting on the weekend. I think I will like the new program, will see what it’s all about! Good luck to us!
ooo that tostada looks soo good!! mexican food has got to be one of my favorites
Thanks for stopping by my blog! The taco salad looks so delicious. Anxious to read your thoughts on weight watchers new program. HAve a great holiday.
Biz – A well deserved break. Have a joyous Christmas and New Year’s, stay warm and happy!
Good luck with WW! I’m sure you will do great.
ps- I’m so jealous of the picture with the snow. Out here in arizona its 76 degrees. It would be nice to experience just one REAL winter in my life.
OMG!!!!! I love all your photos of food!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YAYAYAYAYAYAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Love all the exclamation points!!!!!!!!! 😀
