Yesterday marks 100 days before the end of the year and I am joining Steve’s Hot 100 challenge for the end of the year. I’ve realized in the past week or so that I have had too many licks and tastes of things I am making, so I need to be more mindful. So what are my goals?
- Lose 10 pounds. Sounds easy doesn’t it? Yet I haven’t lost a pound since I started this blog two years ago.
- Portion control – I need to bring my scale out again – I think my 1 cup servings of pasta have gotten a bit big lately.
- More fruits and veggies! Seriously been slacking on this one lately.
- Strength train at least 3 times a week. I think I do too much cardio and not enough strength training.
Thanks Steve for putting this together again this year!
Breakfast was my spicy oats – topped with egg whites, 2 slices of really well done bacon (I actually like it almost burnt!) and swiss cheese.
The strawberries were really tart so I let them sit in Splenda for a while 😀
I went to the gym and you would have thought I hadn’t worked out in a year! Why is it that just a few days away from working out and it’s almost like starting from scratch? The bikes were taken so I did 40 minutes on the elliptical.
Lunch was my cauliflower mac n cheese – but I subbed in broccoli for the cauliflower. With a McDonald’s side salad:
I’ve talked about my grocery store having a 50% off bin for meat that needs to be sold that day. I spun the 50% off wheel and picked up a 1.6 pound bone in ribeye – score!
I made twice baked potatoes on the side – none of those pictures turned out, but I used this cheese from Whole Foods – did you know you can just ask them to try any cheese?
And thanks to Beth, I have a new screen saver at work!
Thanks to everyone who voted for me for the Foodbuzz Food Blog Challenge – fingers crossed I make it to the next round! 😀
Happy Friday – hopefully I have party pizza Friday tonight 😀
You can totally kick 10 pounds!
Just got caught up on some of your posts!!! Happy Birthday Tony! And well, that cali mac and cheese is just calling my name. And jealous! I see that Superdawg place always featured on The Food Network and the Travel channel, and they just look delicous:)
You are welcome Biz – I am so glad to have you on board!
I love your food pics as always!
I did not formally join the challenge this time. Still want to remove another 10 pounds though and like you make sure Im lifting weights twice a week just about to start level 3 of the shred. What are you doing these days for weight lifting a tape or your own thing?
Your food looks amazing as always…cooking a lot would make it harder for me to lose weight too bring out those measuring spoons and cups:)
I am just going to do tapes that are on Exercise on Demand – Jackie Werner has a 45 minute routine that leaves me sore for days! 😀
Yay! Just saw you made it to the next round!
You and my mom would go great together! She loves her bacon burnt! It’s too much for me lol! Have a great weekend!
Great goals!
Oh, I loooooooove ribeye! It’s my favorite cut, and yours grilled beautifully.
Good luck with the Hot 100 – great goals! And I sure hope you get into the next round of the Food Buzz contest!
good luck with the challenge! and some belated wishes to Tony–his note to you was amazing, too 🙂 love saving at the grocery store! last night i stopped by and spent $26 and saved $30!!
I can’t believe there are only 100 more days, that is INSANE!
Awesome goals, Biz! You can do it! I need to strength train more, for sure. I hate it, though!!!
That picture is stunning…screen saver worthy, indeed!
Have a super weekend…enjoy that pizza!
i would have subbed the cauliflower for broccoli too, cant go wrong with that decision 😉 it looks so yummy creamed up in the macaroni <3
sttteaaaakkk!!! now ive got a meat craving which needs to be fulfilled tonight 😉
xoxo
When do you find out about making the next round at food buzz??
I think they make the announcement tomorrow, but I am not sure! 😀
Excellent goals. I wanted to add a “lose x pounds” one, but every time I do, it seems to jinx me.
I utterly truly absolutely love bacon, and like you…WELL DONE. I only have it one of the weekend days usually, though I know that in moderation it’s great. All your food looks great as always. Good luck with the Hot 100! Glad to be doing it with you!
I love how succulent and juicy your grilling always looks. Feel free to come out to CO and grill for us 🙂 Or just send some extra steaks our way, hehe. Good luck with the hot 100 challenge! You have come so far in your weight loss journey and are doing an amazing job choosing good foods, getting in workouts, etc. You will kick those last 10 pounds to the curb girlie!
I always check out what’s in the value meat bin. It looks like you did score. Have a great day.
licks and tastes–we call those BLTs (bites, licks & tastes) in our Weight Watchers meetings–lol! So cut down on those BLT’s, Biz–hehe! I notice that once I stop measuring things and weighing them, my portions tend to grow incrementally as well. I like that you included strength training b/c I’ve read that has more of an impact on fat burning. I hate both but am dedicated to do both. Bleh. And I forgot to tell you I voted for you–good luck!
Thanks Veronica! 😀
i love my bacon super crispy/burnt too! i will pick around all the other parts and just eat the blackened bits…weird? it tastes good though!
good luck on your new challenge! remember how amazing you did with 30 day shred? no doubt you can do the same thing here when you put your mind to it!
awww Biz, I’m glad you like the picture. I love that spot. Right down the island from our beach house, that picture was taken facing away from the delaware bay/atlantic ocean and facing the broadkill river. So beautiful!
Good luck with the challenge – your goals are totally doable!
Oh, and that steak? Looks delicious! Have you ever done a steak pizza?
Actually – no! I was wondering if there is a reuben pizza out there – I’d like to make that some day!
Oooo, we did a steak pizza one time! We used pesto and ricotta cheese instead of tomato sauce, then put the steak slices on it, and then mozzarella and parmesan. Yum!
Good luck on completing your goals!!!
That steak looks delicious!!
” I haven’t lost a pound since I started this blog 2 years ago”. Girl, I hear ya! Ditto. Hey, but maintaining has gotta count for something, right ?
Wish I had a 50% meat bin at my store!
Hey Biz, I’m so glad we’ll be in another challenge together. I enjoyed your 100 Days of Summer so much. This time I’m really going to need a fire lit under me. I hope the Challenge can do it.
Great goals for the challenge! I am in as well.
I’ve become a stalker at the “reduced for quick sale” meat bin. A couple of days ago I got 3 rib eyes that were marked down from $51 to $20! I also got enough cubed steak for chicken fried steak (healthy, right?) for $3.
Girl, I’ll join you in trying to lose 10 pounds by the end of the year.
Oh, and I love that you put a ton of Frank’s on your eggs. I like it spicy too. 🙂
I’m glad you joined the Hot 100. I got so much encouragement doing your Challenge I figured another would be great motivation. I’ll be thinking of you every time I force myself to go in the weight room to get my strength training done. Like you, I tend to focus on the cardio and really want to gain some muscle while losing this fat. Good luck with the Hot 100 and the the FoodBuzz Challenge. I love your sexy apron photo.
Good goals Biz. Best of luck to you and all the other challengers!
Pizza party at our house tonight too but I may buy it instead of making it 🙂
My goal for the rest of the year is to work out regularly. I go through spurts of being active and then weeks of working too much! Life is all about balance – both in the kitchen and out. Right?
Whole Foods’ cheese is amazing. It can get pricey, but it really is worth the money.
I have a 2 year old twin looking at your blog with me and she’s saying NUMMY to all your food! Of course, she thought that most of it was cake.
I joined with Steve, your challenge kicked it off for me and the challenges are SO helpful!! Nice to keep up the motivation! Thanks!
