What a great day we had!  My mom ended up coming to my house and we left for lunch and Goodwill in one car – worked out perfect because she stayed for dinner too!  And my step-son came over and hung out with his Dad while I was out and about and Hannah was at work – he stayed for dinner too!  It was a nice impromptu dinner!

Since the sushi place was closed we decided to try a place near Goodwill called Moe’s Southwestern Grill.  Neither one of us had heard of it, but I remember someone commented one time about their salsa bar – nice!

I ended up getting the two taco combo – one crispy and one soft with chicken.  I could only eat one it was so filling – my toppings included black beans, cucumbers, and my beloved pickled jalapenos! 😀

the chicken was so flavorful, I was surprised at how good this taco was

I got guacamole on the side (sadly, had HUGE chunks of onions) and tomatillos salsa on the side:

the green salsa was very good - had lots of cilantro in it

Then we headed to Goodwill – we probably spent about an hour and a half there!  The first time there Hannah and I were just concentrating on the clothes, but they had racks and racks of odds and ends.  I ended up getting a few mugs for Hannah that I thought she would like and some canning jars.  Here are some oddball things:

But my biggest regret was that these sandles were 1/2 size too small – I fell in love with Born brand shoes when I bought a pair at my local thrift store, brand new, for $10.  They are slip on shoes and I literally wear them almost every day.  They were starting to look worn so I decided to look them up to see where I could buy them and was shocked to find out they cost $100 new!

and they were only $4.99!!!!

I had one steak defrosted when I thought it was just me and Tony, but once I knew my Mom and Joe were staying for dinner, I did a quick run to the store for more steak.

one is a ribeye that I defrosted, the other two are strip steaks

I found that after the steaks are done, I individually wrap them and put the steak on each persons steak in the foil – that way they have all their own juices after the meat has rested – I am happy to say they were perfectly cooked!

1/2 the grill has the coals, the other half is cold, so once the meat sears it finishes cooking on the cold side

I baked potatoes in the oven, but finished them off on the grill for a cripsy skin.

yum!
yum!
I ate half a baked potato, two garlic shrimp (that was Hannah's main meal since she doesn't eat steak, so I made a few more) and I ate about 3/4 of my steak - Ed happily ate the rest! :D

It was a nice dinner and nice to have Mom and Joe stay.  Now I need to clean my kitchen and get into some comfy clothes!

Thanks for all the comments on my haircut – my mom loves it too and took lots of pictures to take to her hair dresser!  Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend, see you in the morning!
