I had a glass of pinot grigio – I forgot to write down (or take a picture!) of the name of it, but it almost tasted like a combination of pinot grigio and chardonnay.
And no trip to Shaw’s Crabhouse would be complete without having a cup of their lobster bisque – we split a cup for the table, but I am pretty sure I ate half of it!
I was torn between getting fish and chips and the crab cake sliders. I asked if there were big chunks of onions in the crab cakes and the server said “there are no onions in the crab cakes.” I was sold! Mom got the fish and chips so I had one of her fish and I gave her one of my sliders – perfect!
I actually saw a lobster, brie and penne pasta entree that sounded amazing, but changed my mind last minute. When Tony was looking at the menu online when I got home, I noticed that there was baby spinach in this dish, and had I known this I definitely would have gotten this. Maybe for our date night!
Hope you had a nice lunch Mom – happy Mother’s Day!
The other day I was watching a Bobby Flay episode and he made a stuffed flank steak with procuitto and fontina cheese. The recipe called for butterflying the flank steak, but I wasn’t exactly sure how to do that, so I decided I would have all these flavors in our dinner.
I finally used my new meat tenderizer!
I ended up marinating the flank steak in 1/4 cup olive oil, one cup of red wine and lots of minced garlic. I marinated this before I went to lunch, so it marinated about 5 hours.
I forgot that my friend Renee from work had given me some asparagus, so I ended up wrapping the asparagus with the prosciutto and grilling it to get it crispy, and then finished it off with the shredded fontina cheese. We loved this, although we would like to try this again using the raw prosciutto, it got really salty on the grill.
I got to look at Tony’s awesome lawn mowing skills while everything cooked!
I made baked potatoes on the side – my plate – 5 ounces baked potatoes, 2 tablespoons light sour cream, 4 ounces flank steak and 2 asparagus.
Off to relax with Tony and Hannah – although they are watching a scary movie, and I usually don’t like scary movies! Hope everyone had a great Saturday!! See you tomorrow!
I love those proscuitto wrapped asparagus. I’ve only ever tried it with regular bacon myself. Really though, wrapping food in bacon/proscuitto is rarely a bad thing 😉
Glad you had a great time at the restaurant!! The yucky rain certainly has paid off with the gorgeous greenery!
HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!
Mmmm….. bacon wrapped asparagus is so delicious. I always enjoy looking at your wonderful creation. Have you ever tried bacon wrapped tomatoes? I’ve had them at a Japanese restaurant once and they were amazing as well.
Your yard is so spacious!!! What a wonderful environment to live in. Hope you have a great rest of the weekend.
LOVE your eats!!! And eek, not a fan of scary movies either!
