Whew, what a busy weekend!  But I think Hannah had a great birthday and that’s all that matters!   Now to catch you up on my Sunday!

First of all, the weather sucked!  We probably got 5 inches of rain (thankful its not snow!) and water in our basement like we usually do this time of year.  It’s not a big deal, just a hassle.  Our backyard looks like a lake!

So before Hannah and I left for my mom’s concert, I made soup and a sammie.  This soup was so good!  It’s one of those soups that come in a box – cream of tomato with chipotle and it was nice and spicy!  And then I made half a grilled cheese and ham sandwich on the black sesame bread we got at the Japanese market.  Both Tony and I didn’t really taste much sesame though!

Hannah ended up driving – thanks Hannah!  Luckily there was only one downpour on the way there.  My mom lives an hour away from us.  She belongs to a choir called Sing to Live – everyone in the choir is either a cancer survivor, or touched by cancer in some way.  My dad died of cancer 10 years ago.  They have been rehearsing for a long time and it was beautiful music!

When we got out of the concert the temperature REALLY dropped – it was 30 degrees and windy and I only wore a sweater!  Luckily the walk from the car to the restaurant wasn’t too far!

As soon as I saw this, I knew I was going to get the tomato bisque!

It was amazing! There was a dollop of cheese in the middle and a swirl of olive oil.

And then I went back and forth about my entree, but when I saw they had a wood burning stove, I decided on pizza!  You knew I couldn’t go a whole week without pizza, right?!

My mom and I each got a flight of wine.  She went with white – I went with red:

They went from mild to more bite with each glass - loved each one!

I almost always order coffee when we go out to eat – I had Hannah order it for me while I checked out the cheese display and when I came back, I had my own personal french press, with a timer to let me know when it was ready – so cool!

Our server had asked us if we had ever been in before and we told her no.  Next thing we know the manager is bringing us desert – on the house!  It was a trio of creme brulee – one was ginger, one was vanilla and one was espresso – Hannah and I loved the espresso the best.

So they have the most amazing cheese display, but what caught my eye was “cheese ends.”  Normally at my local grocery store they have cheese ends all wrapped up together for like $2.00 a pound.  I just bring them home and shredded them myself.  But these were amazing cheeses – and pricey too!  So I decided to bring home a small taste of a few:

can't wait to try them!

And look at this one, a pecorino romano cheese – $29.99 a pound!

I took $2 worth! :D

So while it was a whirlwind weekend, we had a great time.  Hope to catch up on all your blogs in the next couple days – there just wasn’t enough time this weekend!  I’ll post breakfast and lunch together today – see you at lunch!
