rather than running up hill! (This is going to be quick, I have exactly 6 minutes left on my lunch break!)
I’ve walked the route I ran today before, but I guess I never noticed how hilly it was before! I ran 26 MINUTES WITHOUT STOPPING! 😀 Not sure how far I went, I am going to map it in my car after work.
I checked my blood sugar before I left and it was 133. That’s okay if I am not about to go running – what to do?
Okay, not the healthiest choice, but at 63 calories and 11 carbs it was perfect. And it worked. I walked 5 minutes to my “start” ran 26 minutes, and walked 5 minutes for cool down. My blood sugar was a wonderful 125!
The only problem with running outside, is that I wasn’t able to carry my “diabetes bag.” I carried glucose tabs in case I needed them, but it would have been hard to carry this – my daughter made it for me so everything is in one spot (my blood sugar testing supplies, disposable needles, etc.):
I have a fanny pack at home, but that is so 1980s! Does anyone have any suggestions on what they use?
Lunch:
- red lentil soup
- salad with 1 ounce salami, carrots and light balsamic dressing
- 6 tortilla chips
- lots of Tabasco!
Lunch break is over, see you after dinner!
Thank you so very much for your comment on my Potato-sour cream biscuit post!
My brother -in law struggles with his Type 1 diabetes daily. I will have to send him over to your blog.
I think I might try the fanny pack!
Thanks for the ideas Cassie and Rhodeygirl!
i have a cute fannypack that i use once in a while. i dont care about how it looks.i like it.
I usually stick things (money, keys) in my shoes when I walk or run, but it’s not very practical (and can cause blisters). Maybe Hannah can sew some small pockets on the inside of your shorts waistband, or you can get one of those iPod armbands with little pockets.
Running for 26 minutes is great! I have no endurance for running – maybe it’s because I get bored or something. Have a great day 🙂
