Easy BBQ Baby Back Ribs (No Skill Required)

These easy bbq baby back ribs (no skill required) is perfect for a beginner cook, or for someone who has been intimated by their grill to make bbq ribs.  One of the first BBQ ribs recipes on my website goes all the way back to 2009!  The first line of that blog post?  “I overcooked the ribs!!!!”  Not sure why in 2009 I felt it necessary to be ascloseaspossible to the food before taking a photo, but here we are.

rub and sauce for easy bbq ribs

The Winter Inn BBQ Company is a new vendor at our local farmers market.  I have been obsessed with vinegar based BBQ sauces for as long as I can remember.  When I was going down the line looking at all their different flavors (there must have been over 20!) I stopped in my tracks when it said “you said vinegar.”  Holy balls, this is one of the best BBQ sauces I’ve ever had.  Hannah can’t do too much spice, and this had just enough.  She took one bite of these ribs and said “these are the best ribs you’ve ever made Mom!”  Yes.

It’s a bit messy getting the seasonings on the ribs, but worth it.  You can buy food safe gloves at most grocery stores.  Just be sure not to use cleaning gloves, because those are not made with food safe materials.  Most everyday gloves contain chemicals, dyes, or powders that can transfer to your food.  Food grade gloves are specifically made to be safe.

tender bbq

I rarely temp my ribs.  You can tell they are done when the meat pulls away from the bone, and a knife easily cuts through the bones.

Easy BBQ Ribs (No Skill Required!)

Yield: 4 servings
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 2 hours
Additional Time: 5 minutes
Total Time: 2 hours 10 minutes

Easy BBQ ribs that require no cooking skills! Easy method gets tender, fall off the bone ribs every time.

Ingredients

  • 1 slab pork baby back ribs
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 2 tablespoons dry rub (we used Grillin with Dad's All Purpose Rub)
  • 3 tablespoons bbq sauce (we used The Winter Inn BBQ sauce)

Instructions

Preheat the oven
Heat your oven to 325°F.

Prep the ribs
Flip the ribs over and remove the silver skin from the back. This helps the seasoning soak in and makes the ribs more tender.

Season
Rub the ribs all over with the yellow mustard. This acts as a binder for the seasoning. Sprinkle the dry rub evenly on both sides, pressing it in so it sticks.

Wrap and bake
Place the ribs on a large piece of foil and wrap them tightly so no steam escapes. Put the wrapped ribs on a baking sheet and bake for 2 hours, or until they are fork tender and you can start to see the bones.

Sauce and broil
Carefully unwrap the ribs and brush them with BBQ sauce. Place under the broiler for 3–5 minutes, just until the sauce caramelizes and gets a little char.

Rest and serve
Let the ribs rest for a few minutes, then slice between the bones and serve.

Tender, saucy, slightly charred ribs, with basically zero skill required.

Notes

According to the WW app, 3 ounces of pork bbq ribs (about 3 ribs) is 9 WW points. If you count calories or macros: 200 calories, 12 fat, 12 carbs, 1 fiber and 12 grams protein.

If you are new here, welcome to My Bizzy Kitchen! I started this blog nearly 18 years ago to document my recipes and daily life, never imagining it would one day become my full-time career. After losing my husband nearly 10 years ago, I navigated the hardest chapter of my life while still finding joy in cooking and sharing my journey.

In December 2020, I took a leap of faith and left my 30-year career as a legal secretary to pursue My Bizzy Kitchen full-time, a decision that changed my life.

Two years later, in October 2022, I was able to hire my daughter, Hannah, full-time, which brings me so much joy. Now, My Bizzy Kitchen is more than just recipes. It’s about embracing life, finding balance, and making healthy living sustainable and fun.
