I am always surprised when someone reaches out to me on Instagram and wants to do a meet up – I am a total people person and I love meeting new people! I love that otherwise our paths never would have crossed.
Dina and Veronica are two women who follow my Instagram – both are on WW and Veronica has the sugars like me and is doing amazeballs since being diagnosed last fall – she’s down 30 pounds!
Well, they both work at Kimpton Hotel Monaco and their restaurant Fisk & Co. as a Senior Sales Manager and Assistant Director of Catering. They asked if I would like to meet them for lunch (duh) and then said that I could bring my sister (double duh!).
I’ve never been to Kimpton Hotel Monaco or Fisk & Co. It’s located just a tiny bit north east of the Loop – a short 5 minute walk from my office. If you are planning a trip to Chicago, I highly recommend this hotel – the rooms are gorgeous and the hospitality we were provided was top notch. It’s centrally located near the Riverwalk, Magnificent Mile shopping district, and a short cab ride to Navy Pier.
The chef started us out on a few items – this was a smoked trout deviled egg with roe – OMG, so good!
Next up was a special salad – it was a cauliflower salad with herbs and capers.
Gulf shrimp and oysters on the half shell. For a second I thought I’d give the oysters a try, but changed my mind – the shrimp was awesome though!
Dina ordered the lobster roll with a warm buttered split bun with slaw and kennebec chips.
Veronica ordered the arugula salad with candied walnuts, apple, shaved Parmesan cheese and steak.
Jennifer got the chicken schnitzel sandwich with slaw and pomme frittes.
I got a burger – you knew I had to get that. I am always on the quest for the best burger in Chicago, and this ranks pretty high up there. Two beef patties which were perfectly seasoned, with a bit of crispy edges on them. Soft bun, homemade pickles #swoon
This restaurant is known for their mussels and pomme frites – they have six signature dipping sauces for their fries, including green goddess, roasted garlic aioli and black garlic ketchup. Um, yes please!
We then got to tour the rooms.
The suite was amazeballs! I could live in those window seats.
And because I am doing the 100 Day of Honest Tracking, I tracked everything the best I could. Turns out Fisk & Co. isn’t in the WW app. 😀
But knowing I was going to have a big lunch, I had a 3 point breakfast and 4 point dinner. And I went to the gym last night – these photos are out of order, but I ended my day with over 18k steps.
(note to self: reply to notifications on WW connect!)
So yesterday was a great day! I am blessed to have opportunities like that lunch, and now have two new friends – thanks again Dina and Veronica!
And I think I have plans to meet up with two new friends for happy hour there next week – fun!
Happy Tuesday friends – curious out of those four lunches, which one would have picked? The burger, lobster roll, salad or fried chicken sandwich??
Make it a great day!
The Lobster roll for sure!! I can’t see the pics, but I’m sure it was amazing. R
Lobster roll and yes to the oysters. Funny that I can only see a couple of the food pics so I’m picking these without seeing the pics 😉
lobster roll every time
While all of that food looked amazeballs to me, after much consideration I would’ve chosen the lobster roll. Yum!!
I would of gone with the burger too minus the bun because I can’t eat gluten. All the food looked good though.
It would be a toss up for me between the burger and the chicken sandwich. It looked like everything was great except the oysters as I’m not a fan. I bet it comes with a high price tag. I still can’t believe your awesome veggie burger lunch was $17. I’m not sure how you will top this lunch tomorrow but I’ll look forward to finding out .
I would have gone with lobster roll looked awesome
All that food looks awesome! I’ll keep that hotel in mind next time we do an overnight in Chicago! I would go with the lobster roll, arugala salad, chicken sandwich, burger. Oh, and those appetizers all sounded wonderful – I can do raw oysters if I know they’re fresh. Not my favorite, though, I’d rather have them grilled – YUM!
