I made another batch of my one point fruit sauce over the weekend. I am lucky that Hannah goes in spurts of making fruit smoothies, and I have about five bags of frozen bags to choose from at any given time. It made me think of all the things I’ve taken for granted while she has been living with me these last two years. First – abundance of frozen fruit. Second – hair care products. I think Hannah could open a Sally’s beauty store out of our bathroom – that girl loves her product. Pretty sure I haven’t spent any money on shampoo, conditioner, razors since she moved in.
I’ve been having a hard time finding the 5.3 ounce containers of plain Chobani, so bought a big container. I measured out a cup (3) with my (1) fruit sauce and a banana for a 4 point breakfast. You wouldn’t think this is very filling, but it really is. And another great way to use my stem less wine glass š
I got together with my sister and our friend Jenny for our walk. We call ourselves the “Walk Stars” and our 45 minute walk goes by in a flash with all our talking. As we were walking I saw this soup place – Soup Barz on Wells. I had a roast beef low carb wrap and an orange and needed to accessorize my lunch. And you all know what a soup whore I am!
The guy behind the counter could not have been friendlier. We could sample as many soups as we wanted, but after the first taste of the cheesy cauliflower soup, I was sold. I did think it needed a bit more of a kick, but that’s probably just my taste buds. My sandwich was 5 points and I am calling this soup 6, based on other similar soups on the WW app.
I was a bit hungry as I was leaving the office, so had a Premier protein chocolate drink for the train ride home. When you go to Starbuck’s just as, for a doppio shot (two shots of espresso) over ice, in a Venti cup. It only costs $2.17 – when you add the whole container of the Premier protein, it will fill it up to the top. Only 2 points and 30 grams of protein. That way when I walked in the door an hour later I don’t have the urge to eat everything within five feet with me because I am not starving.
I defrosted 90% lean beef in the fridge yesterday while I was at work to make bunless burgers, but really had a taste for fries. But it was a lower carb day for me. A quick google search of “low carb fries” and I saw parsnip fries, and thought – hey, I have carrots! So carrot fries it was. Here’s the thing though – it came out perfect in my head, but this could have easily been a recipe fail. Happily, these turned out amazing! It helped that I seasoned them with Trader Joe’s everything but the bagel seasoning. I am almost out!
Now I will say, I deep fried these fries. But I will always say that deep frying doesn’t necessarily mean it’s not healthy. Since I have a deep fryer, it holds the exact temperature for frying – so when a food hits the hot oil, it sears the outside, and barely any oil gets absorbed. It’s when you don’t have the oil at the right temperature that it just gets oily. I love that these were crisp on the outside, and still had a crunch of a raw carrot when you bit into it.
Since the carrots were on the sweet side, I loved the spicy pineapple fruit ketchup to balance the sweetness of the fries. Oh snap, I just saw they now have a mustard! I am going to get that. I may have to do a giveaway of a sample of these products soon. š
But I digress ā here is the recipe!

Iāve gotten a few questions off line asking if I miss the carbs, and truthfully, I donāt. That being said, I still love them and am looking forward to pancakes for breakfast tomorrow.
Another busy day at work ā T-minus 8 days until our office move ā so much to do, so little time!
Can you guys give me some comment love over at The Chopping Block? My new block post is up – you can check it out here.
Make it a great day!
Carrot fries? Yes please!
LOVE the new header!!!!
Oh my goodness, I just LOVE the new header photo! The photos you take with the fork/bite up close are some of my favorites. Of course, I like the city photos, the puppy photos, the people photos, just not crazy about the weird “snap chat” photos. Charlie is too funny, I love your family’s twisted humor š Can’t wait to see your new office. I’m glad they don’t have you doing the moving like your previous company with all those bins needing moved.
Thanks Kym! Yep, it was driving Charlie nuts that it was all blurry when he popped by. I’ll have to text you a sunny pic I took yesterday – today is gloomy and rainy š
No moving boxes for me! Well, I have been moving boxes around my office, but on the day of the move I’ll walk away that Friday and on Monday be in my new space, which I heard is bigger, which makes me happy – I am a little cramped in the space I am in now.
The carrot fries remind me of the oven roasted carrots I make. One of my favorite roasted vegetables. I would think they’d be less points if you roasted them. I’d do them at 425 (instead of 350) for a true roast.
Charlie cracks me up!
I was thinking the same thing – roasted carrots! I use a higher oven heat for them because I love a good roast on my carrots. May have to try that seasoning on them, as it sounds pretty good.
Thanks for the heads up Helen on the oven temp – if it were a weekend I probably would have baked them, but a couple minutes in the fryer was the way to go on a weeknight š
I love Charlie’s sense of humor š
hi biz – I wanted to pop in and let you know that for some reason I haven’t been seeing your most recent posts update on the home page of your blog. I can usually find them when I go into the post on the home screen and click next post at the bottom so I normally wouldn’t comment about it but I think I saw someone say that yesterday too so I figured I’d chime in š Also – I make my own everything seasoning at home sooooo good: http://thepikeplacekitchen.com/everything-seasoning-everything-baked-chicken/
Yep, I know Ash, but I don’t know how to fix that. Some people can go to the monthly archives and pull it up that way, some people have no problems at all, others have to refesh the home page to get the new post to pop up – I am not that technical to figure out what’s going on š But I appreciate you letting me know!
Your everything chicken is still on my list of things to make – soon! Hugs š
I have heard so much about the TJ’s seasoning recently, I will have to pick some up.
Emily, it’s so good – you’ll put it on everything! š
Those carrot fries look really good. Think I could substitute another vegetable for the carrots? I’m thinking like, maybe potatoes?
I’ve seen you mention the office move but I don’t think I caught where. Will you still be in walking distance of your prettier sister?
I’ll be even closer to Jenn! It’s about a six block walk from my current office – might add an extra 5 minute walk to my day – no big deal. š I think we will be a 4 minute walk between our offices š
