I am sure you are wondering what the title of the post could possibly mean! Somehow, not one, but two people Googled: “Fish With Big Lips” and somehow found my blog! The funny thing is that I probably have 5 fish posts in 14 months of this blog! :D
I got up in time to take the dog for a walk. You know the drill, all I have to do is say “walk” and he’s at the back door in two seconds! Today was the same. Except for one thing. As soon as I put the retractable leash on him, he went back up the stairs and into our bedroom where Tony was watching the morning news! What?? I kept saying, “Ed, want to go for a walk??” Nothing! So I went alone! A quick 20 minutes I was back. When I walked in the door Tony said “I think Ed regretted his decision after the first five minutes you were gone!” But then I had to get ready for work and there was no time. 🙁
Breakfast: 1/2 Panera Sesame Bagel, 1/2 cup egg beaters, 1 ounce goat cheese, 1 ounce deli ham and 4 ounces cantaloupe. My bagel got a tad too dark, but it was still tasty!
Can I just tell you how fricken good my lunch was??? Since I worked almost a full day on Sunday, which is my grocery shop/menu plan day, I am kind of flying by the seat of my pants this week, which is so not like me! I was looking in the fridge today, and remembered that I had turkey tenderloin leftover. Mind you, this was teriyaki marinated turkey! So I did what any normal person would do and I washed it under cold water! Why you ask?? Because I wanted to make a Rachel!
My lunch was the other half of the bagel from breakfast, 4 ounces of sliced turkey, 2 ounces of sauerkraut, my homemade mustard, and 1 ounce of provolone cheese! This sammie was amazing!
I went in the deep freeze and pulled out a serving of my Two Point Acorn Squash Bisque- score! So it was a soup and sammie day!
Before I go any further, I have to add to yesterday’s meal plan. You see, while I can have cakes and cookies laying around I am not tempted one bit. Apple fritter on the counter, who cares? But pretzels. Pretzels are my crack! Especially these pretzels!
So if anyone is keeping score, please add 250 calories to my total yesterday!!!
So since I am working out of my pantry and freezer, dinner tonight was chicken legs, chicken wings, Pam fried red potatoes and luckily I had enough stuff to make salads on the side!
I had one small chicken leg, 2 wings, 4 ounces of potatoes and the above salad. Um, turns out I deep fat fried the chicken!
So while still kind of high in fat, I still met my goals for the day!!
Stats for the Day:
- 1519 calories
- 51 fat
- 130 carbs
- 129 protein
- 12 fiber (okay, so that was 1/2 what it should be!)
- 20 minute walk in the morning
- 50 minute walk at lunch
- 15 minute walk with Ed after dinner!
I have to say one more thing before I start to watch Biggest Loser! Ed and I are down by the river and I see a black cat. Then I notice that this cat is really big. Then I notice that this black cat is a giant SKUNK! I don’t know if any of you have experienced a pet getting sprayed by a skunk before, but the smell lingers forever!! Happily we made it home safe! 😀
Off to watch BL! See you tomorrow night!
hahah google search does the WACKIEST things…5 fish posts in 14 months…I can’t believe your blog still came up in all those searches! hahaha it’s really quite funny though. 😛 Whoever stumbled upon your blog is A LUCKY LUCKY person. You and your delicious food!
I’ve never seen those pretzels at Trader Joe’s, but pretzels are my vice too! Those and animal crackers…and kettle corn. hehehe It’s probably better that I don’t see those pretzels actually. Hope all is well with you Beth!!! Happy Thursday!! 🙂 Humpday is OVER!!
I love pretzels too!! I want to try making homemade pretzels sometime soon!! 🙂
I just want to EAT your blog. the whole thing. Can I??? You eat the most scrumptious looking food!!!
Ow! I am so picking up those pretzels when I go to TJs over thanksgiving!! Josh and I love pretty much anything involving sunflower seeds 🙂 Great job with all the delicious eats. Hope biggest loser was a good one
Awww poor Ed!
Lunch looks great. I do the same thing, rinsing off meat if I use it as a leftover. Sometimes I don’t want the same flavor, just to reuse the meat. hehe
I haven’t tried those pretzels. A friend got me the peanut butter filled ones (LOVE THOSE) but covered in chocolate for my birthday. They’re great.
Thankfully I’ve never had a pet sprayed by a skunk. One vacation we were staying in a rental cabin in the mountains of NC or Tennesee and there was a den (?) of them UNDER the cabin! They couldn’t move us to another cabin, so the whole trip was park rangers coming to and fro setting and emptying traps to get rid of them. We never got sprayed, but they still have an odor about them anyways, so you never really could escape it and we were afraid to spend too much time outside or on the porch.
Your lunch does look delish! I could have done the same thing with my pork tenderloin and made a sammy out of it, but didn’t think of it.
And….I still want some mustard for Christmas. I’ll bring the pretzels!
Carp! Aren’t those the fish with big lips? People do get to our blogs in the funniest ways. I signed you up for my newsletter as I did not see you on the list like you asked. You will be getting a verification notice. Thanks!!!
that Rachel looks soooo good! What a good idea just rinsing off the teriyaki
i’m going to have to try those pretzels. i love the look of that sammie!
Cracking up at Ed regretting not going for the walk with you…a dog’s true dilemma, staying in the nice warm bed with one person or going for the walk. Now I’m wondering if he went this morning!
Glad you found the magazine – I told my kids they were getting autographed copies for Christmas…they did not seem all that excited about it, go figure!
hahaha, what a fun google-ing experience!
probably a fun blog title too.
your meal looks too good!
I love your site… o many great ideas and tips, wonderful looking meals, and indulge on the pretzels in moderation (as you did). If you ignore the cravings, they become binges.
ewwwww skunk!!! gross! my cat got sprayed by one once, i think it scarred her for life!
poor Ed! that’ll teach him not to be lazy!! hahaha
Some search terms make me go, “Really?!?!” One of mine was ‘sexy man voice’ and it’s because I complained that my voice sounded like a man when I was sick.
Ughhhh skunks!! My dog got sprayed by one when I was in middle school and I STILL remember the smell 10+ years later. It was awful!
Ugh, keep away from that polecat! That smell is wicked bad!
Ohmigosh, isn’t it hilarious seeing what people search to find your blog? I once got ‘angry husband hits me sometimes.’ WTH?! That made me sad.
I’m loving the reuben-esque lunch!!!! 🙂
Oh, that soup sounds so good! I have an acorn squash ready to use! Can you post or send the recipe to me? Somehow, I must have missed it..
Love that TJ’s. 🙂
Thanks!
If you click on my Index of Recipes at the top of the page, its under the soup category. 😀
i’ve never seen a skunk before – i’m sure i would freak out irrationally
I almost ran into a skunk twice last year on my walks. As soon as I realized what it was, I slowly, ever so slowly backed away. 🙂
Hilarious!!
Your meals look so tasty! Goes to show that we can eat well and healthy. Great job!
People can google weird sh!t and find totally unrelated blogs – it’s funny!
