60 Days Soft Challenge

I’ve been in a bit of a funk lately. Honestly, I think it started when I turned 57. I can’t explain it exactly.  Just this low hum of “meh” that’s been following me around. I’ve been doing all the “right” things.  Tracking, cooking, walking, training.  But I’m not feeling as inspired or energized as I used to. And you know what? That’s okay.

Sometimes you need a little spark to reignite that fire. So I’m starting something I’m calling 60 Days Soft—a gentle, disciplined reset to help me feel more connected to myself, my goals, and the habits that actually make me feel good. Think of it as the more compassionate cousin of “75 Hard.” No extreme rules, no shame if you miss a day. Just real, doable daily habits to build consistency and confidence over time.

Here’s the breakdown of the daily challenges I’ll be doing for the next 60 days:

60 days soft challenge

Move Your Body (Minimum 30 Minutes)

This doesn’t have to be a beast-mode workout. It can be a walk with Todd, strength training, yoga, or dancing in the living room to 90s throwbacks. The goal is consistency, not perfection.

Read for Twenty Minutes a Day

No scrolling. No audiobooks. Just physical (or e-reader) pages to help calm my mind, spark creativity, or learn something new. This can be fiction, non-fiction, personal development.  You name it.

Drink 80 oz. of Water

Let’s be real, I’m better at drinking coffee than water. But hydration is key: especially for energy, digestion, and staying on track with my wellness goals. I’ll be keeping a water bottle nearby at all times like it’s my emotional support water jug.

Journal or Reflect for 5 Minutes

This could be a brain dump, gratitude list, mood check-in, or just me venting to a notebook. The point is to get the thoughts out of my head and onto paper, even if it’s messy.

No Alcohol

Just for the 60 days. Not forever. It’s not about being anti-wine.  It’s about being intentional. I want to see how I feel without the casual glass of wine here and there and if it impacts my energy or sleep.

Stick to My WW Plan

No obsessing. No perfection. Just following the plan I know works for me. Tracking, staying mindful of portions, and making meals that are satisfying and balanced. I’m not chasing zero-point perfection, just consistency.

One Act of Connection Daily

Whether it’s texting a friend, calling my mom, commenting on someone’s post, or planning a coffee date—this habit is about reminding myself that I don’t have to go through things alone. I want to nurture my relationships, not just my to-do list.

Do Something That Brings Me Joy

This is the “soft” part. Every day, I’ll carve out a little time for something that makes me smile. Thrifting, baking, walking Todd, creating a new recipe, listening to a favorite podcast, or even just sitting outside with a cup of coffee.

Why Now?

Because it’s easy to coast. It’s easy to fall into routines that feel familiar but aren’t helping you grow. I’ve been maintaining a 35-pound weight loss for a while now, but I know I’ve stopped pushing myself a little. I’m not talking about punishing myself or overhauling my life—I’m talking about gently nudging myself forward with intention.

If you’ve also been feeling “off,” maybe this is your sign to create your own version of soft structure. You don’t have to wait for Monday, or a new month, or a new year. Start today. Start where you are.

If you are new here, welcome to My Bizzy Kitchen! I started this blog 16 years ago to document my recipes and daily life, never imagining it would one day become my full-time career.
