Good morning, and happy Mondaayyy! What a fun day I had yesterday! I took the train into the city, and my friends at the Kimpton Hotel Monaco hooked me up with an awesome king bed suite. So spoiled!
Could the view from my room be any more gorgeous?!
I was meeting up with my friends Erica and Dan to meet Bobby Parrish and his wife Dessi who just came out with their first cookbook. My sister first told me about Bobby probably a year or two ago – he’s got amazing videos on YouTube, and you can check out all his recipes on his blog here.
Last week on one of his live Instagram posts, he wore the shirt I am wearing, and I just had to buy it. Now I just need to find a shirt that says “lick my balls (meatballs!). ”
My Instagram daughter Christina met me at my hotel before the event. We each had a drink and shared a couple appetizers.
I tried the hamachi crudo, and sans the onions, it was delicious!
And you can never go wrong with burrata – it had grilled asparagus and delicious crusty bread.
I love how Erica and Dan get my sense of humor already. And I call Dan my Chicago boyfriend 😀
Sadly about 100 people didn’t show up last night- maybe because of the season finale of Game of Thrones??
Erica, Dan, their daughter and I had “family dinner” downstairs from the event. I was able to meet Chef Todd Stein, the Executive Chef – their restaurant group has three restaurants, can’t wait to check out the other two.
Let the food porn begin!
More burrata!
Okay, I said the other day that I didn’t like raw kale, but this kale salad was incredible. It had a slightly sweet dressing, with the salty and nutty pecorino romano cheese, and I think it had golden raisins too. So good.
Sauteed mushrooms – swoon.
And the bucatini carbonara – buttery, velvety, perfectly cooked pasta. I have a recipe for a shrimp carbonara this is really good – you can check that out here.
I don’t remember what this dish was, but it was a stuffed pasta with the lightest cream sauce.
And sugar snap peas. I need to recreate this dish at home.
And what’s dinner out without dessert? We split the chocolate cake and tiramisu.
And their almost three year old daughter was so cute at dinner. Perfectly behaved, danced when she felt like it, and ate fish roe and alfredo sauce together. I love how the restaurant presented her with an etch a sketch!
Sadly I didn’t get any pics of the people I was with, but it was so inspiring to be with Bobby and Dessi – they created the life they wanted, and there is nothing from stopping any of us from doing the same.
You just have to put yourself with the right people, and it’s amazing where that could take you.
I am giving a copy of their new cookbook away – you don’t have to be on the keto diet to like this cookbook – its using whole foods and I can’t wait to try some of them.
To enter: tell me what you dream job is!! I’d love to hear. I’ll pick a winner on Wednesday.
I had to laugh at Bobby’s inscription on my copy:
Now if you’ll excuse me, I have about 45 minutes before I have to walk three blocks to my office. I am pretty sure 30 minutes of that will be in the deluxe shower.
Happy Monday friends – make it a great day!
Although I love to cook new foods and try new recipes with my family I think my dream job would be a photographer….I love to capture people having happy memories. Sadly most people do not take enough
pictures that get printed and hung up….they are all selfies nowadays that stay on a phone gallery. People also do not really want
to pay for that service so it is not really something one can make a living off of.
I will just keep it as one of my passions that I can enjoy and share with friends and family.
My dream job would be to work with goats! I love them so much. Maybe own my own goat farm or work on one! Haha
My dream job would be to own a doggy rescue! And part-time canner on the side 🙂
I must say I am living my dream job – I’m an OR nurse but I always have said if I didn’t go to nursing school I would have become a hairdresser!
My dream job would be to be a photographer. All outdoor & landscapes.
My dream job is teaching someone to read and seeing the lightbulb come on when they get the connection between letters, sounds, and words. Absolutely amazing!
Dream job. I have that right now.
I just sit at my desk, ignore my phone, texts, and emails, and just dream all day long.
I tried writing a comment but it didn’t stick – I will try again – Dream job – working at a animal resuce center
I’d love to win this book. Interested in Keto. Looks like a fun event.
My dream job growing up was to be a teacher. My dream job now being a nutrition coach — I’m still new at this so it does not pay the bills. In the meantime, I turn 62 years old in July so I can see retirement from my day job in a few years.
Mary
wow..dream job ..probably what I’m doing now…a physical therapist..and mom… love both of these !!! and love to cook healthy as well ….would love to win this cookbook! thanks biz ….trying not to eat like an asshole today!!! helen
I just re-organized my home office and I can almost smell how amazing it’s going to be to work out of there full-time, taking calls while going for walks around my neighborhood, shuffling into read morning emails with my coffee. It’s happening because I need it in my life. I hope you are going at yours full force, too! I believe in you, Biz!
Wine and Food Pairing Taster! I love how wine and food can change dramatically when paired with just the right thing. Compare, contrast and all the little nuances in between! The combinations are endless! A little education can help just about anybody pick out a wine from a menu based upon what people are eating.
My dream job would be being able to volunteer full time at a animal rescue center!
I always thought it would be nice to have a small bakery or diner. Something where the menu and items changed on a regular basis maybe according to my mood. 🙂 I also LOVE to come up with party themes/decor. I can’t believe so many who rsvp didn’t make it. Looks like an amazing time. I sent you a DM about a week ago not sure if you got it. I know your Insta app was down for a bit. Don’t they realize who you are and how many questions etc. you get daily?
I always wanted to be an artist but my too practical nature has kept me from pursuing it.
Dream job? Book Editor in NYC. I’m 58 and still haven’t ruled it out 😀
Hey Biz! Sounds like you had a great night out! I am an animal lover and am involved in animal rescue. I live in southern CA and most shelters are high kill😢 I want to open a dog and cat cafe. People can come to my cafe and hang out with a dog or cat and maybe find their forever friend. The cafe would also have resources to help educate people the importance of spay and neuter as well as as teaching them an animal is a lifetime commitment!
I wish you lived closer because we are doing a fundraiser and you would love it! Drag Queen Bingo. So much fun and not a clean version of bingo at all😂
Hope you have a great Monday!
After 35 years with a desk job it’s hard to imagine anything else! But if I’m dreaming- I’ll go with personal trainer who also provided healthy recipes that taste good!
My dream job is to be a fitness instructor, and actually working towards that goal now. Have 35 more pounds to lose for a total of 140, and am taking my spin certification next weekend!
My dream job is writing from home! And it would help if that home had a good view, preferably of water!
