Friday night pajama party! I had the pleasure of having these two littles over Friday night for a sleep over. I went to their house to grill up some chicken pitas and brought mac n cheese for the kids. After we ate, I scooped the girls in my car and brought them home. I live less than 10 minutes from their house. Their Momma? Called me within five minutes of getting home asking if we got home okay. 😀 The girls don’t spend very much time away from their parents, so I get it.
I lit candles and the littlest little asked “can we turn off all the lights like a real movie theater?!” Yep! Um, we may have stayed up until 11:30 – I seriously didn’t realize it was that late, but then again, we watched two movies! I thought for sure, no problem, they will sleep in!
Nope – the littlest little was up at 6:22. We all slept on the sofa, which is so comfy. But I have black light curtains in my bedroom, at 6:22 the living room was flooded with sunlight.
Since I already went to a meeting last week, I only had to weigh in. I am sure the girls would have been fine sitting for a 30 minute meeting, but I promised them donuts and smoothies at the coffee shop Hannah works at since she was working.
We walked into WW to wait in line for me to weigh in and the littlest little said “where are the smoothis?!”
I was very happy with -1.6 after last weeks -3.6. I think eating a bigger meal at lunch helped, and getting to the gym at night, which I am loving by the way.
We made it to the coffee shop where the girls got donuts as big as their heads. We brought half home as well as their smoothies. Their parents did some chores around their house and I told them to go have lunch by themselves.
Guess what the littles and I did? We got Bizzy in my Kitchen! They brought their own aprons and everything. That little below made up a recipe – I just had ingredients and she mixed flour, sugar, baking powder, milk, eggs – not sure what else, but they tasted really good! She could have easily addd a cup of baking powder making them inedible, but they turned out great!
The bigger little made spicy drop biscuits for her parents – using a recipe because she’s an amazing reader.
The girls and I had waffles for lunch, but around 2 their parents called asking me to meet them at the local ale house. I had the goat cheese appetizer and a couple beers – my lunch ended up being 25 points because of the beer (my guess was 7 points each – so good!) but totally worth it. There may have been a tiny melt down by the time we left. Um, turns out you can’t keep littles up to 11:30! Alison, next time promise I’ll get them to bed at a respectable time. 😀
The best part of being a babysitter is that you get to give them aback and walk away! They were asleep within moments of driving away.

Sunday morning I got Bizzy in my Kitchen, this time making bagels with Premier Protein! A girl I follow on Instagram from Cleveland posted bagels from her local bagel shop, and one of them was a cranberry cinnamon crunch bagel, which was the inspiration. I made vanilla protein powder cranberry bagels and they are delicious!
One scoop of protein powder is 1/2 a cup, so I just reduced the flour by 1/2 a cup and added in the protein powder.
Then dropped in 1/2 cup chopped craisins.
After two hours the dough was so light and fluffy.
And because I baked them on my Baking Steel, the bottoms were perfectly crunchy, while the inside was chewy, exactly what I love in a bagel. I entered the recipe in the WW recipe builder, and each one comes in at 4 smart points.
Premier Protein Cranberry Vanilla Bagels
Ingredients
- 4.5 cups flour
- .5 cups Premier Protein vanilla protein powder
- 2 teaspoons yeast
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1.75 cups lukewarm water
- .25 cups craisins
- 2 teaspoons McCormick cinnamon sugar
Instructions
- In a stand mixer, add the water and yeast and let sit for 5 minutes. Add in the protein powder, flour, salt and craisins and mix in your stand mixer for about 5 minutes. You may need to add a tablespoon or two of flour if the dough is sticking to the sides of your mixing bowl.Let rise for 2 hours. Heat oven to 425. I got 20 mini bagels out of this recipe. I weighed out 1.75 ounces per bagel, rolled each piece into a 7 inch log, then brought the two ends together and pinched to seal.Heat a pot of water - just enough so the bagels don't sit on the bottom, and bring to a boil. Once boiling, add 1 teaspoon of salt and 1 tablespoon baking soda - be careful because the baking soda makes the water rise! Boil for 30 seconds per side, then put on a baking sheet with parchment paper. Bake for 13-14 minutes. Once out of the oven, brush with a bit of butter and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar. I tried adding the cinnamon sugar before baking, but it burned before the bagels were done - so don't do that. 😀
Yesterday’s breakfast – a spinach, mushroom, geta cheese omelette as big as my head, the bagel and watermelon. So good!
And in case anyone was wondering, I got my workouts in this weekend. Friday was my day off, but Saturday night I did the 30 minute circuit then 35 minutes on the Stairmaster. Since I didn’t do Insanity on Friday, yesterday I did the 30 minute Friday Night Fight workout – holy balls that was hard! Then went to the gym last night and my goal was to do an hour on the treadmill at 8% incline, but at 45 minutes, I could feel my blood sugar dropping, so figured it was best to call it a day. I checked my blood sugar and it was 54, even though I took half the amount of insulin at dinner and ate a fruit salad with dinner. Luckily there is a grocery store next door, and I got a banana and a granola bar and ate that in the car before driving home. Damn diabetes 😛
I hit up the 50% of meat bin at Jewel on Saturday and got lean ground turkey for only $2 a pound! I have a couple great recipes to share this week – tomorrow will be Greek turkey meatballs and later this week a turkey bolognese.
Thank you Rachel! Shout out to my blog friend Rachel who sent me her old Fitbit – which is a step up from what I had so I am feeling very fancy. Her husband Dave curses me when I get more steps than me in our weekly challenges, and I love it. 😀
We may have rain at lunch time, but I’ll see if my sister wants to walk the Pedway today. Gotta get those steps in!
Make it a great day!
That’s so sweet of Rachel! We now have the same Fitbit, after my old one died I bought this one too.
And I love our challenges although it’s hard to beat you or David, but I’ll keep trying 🙂
You are a brave woman with the little ones and a sleep over! 😀
Yep, another one of the many reasons you are amazing. Volunteering to have a sleep over with a little, two littles on top of that. I’m not sure I have the patience for that anymore. Looks like you had another “Bizzy” and productive weekend.
Super sweet of Rachel to send you her fit bit. I love that she still has the box and everything. I always worry when I see how low your blood sugar drops at times. I’m glad your on top of it and know your body signals so well!
Woo hoo for another loss. You mentioned the other day you had to pay for WW. I thought you hit goal before and after that they don’t charge you any more. Is that not how lifetime member works?
Those little bagels are so cute, I need to start making more bread. Hope you have a great day.
You’re a premier protein cranberry vanilla bagel.
